One time I wrote "he pulled his hoodie over his headie"
It took me a second to figure out why that was wrong
That'll happen
I've been possessed and writing for hours straight and I just reached a point where I wrote "flail" when I meant "frail"
I had to google that because *something felt off*
I think i need to go to sleep now

10 Non-Lethal Injuries to Add Pain to Your Writing
New Part: 10 Lethal Injury Ideas
If you need a simple way to make your characters feel pain, here are some ideas:
1. Sprained Ankle
A common injury that can severely limit mobility. This is useful because your characters will have to experience a mild struggle and adapt their plans to their new lack of mobiliy. Perfect to add tension to a chase scene.
2. Rib Contusion
A painful bruise on the ribs can make breathing difficult, helping you sneak in those ragged wheezes during a fight scene. Could also be used for something sport-related! It's impactful enough to leave a lingering pain but not enough to hinder their overall movement.
3. Concussions
This common brain injury can lead to confusion, dizziness, and mood swings, affecting a character’s judgment heavily. It can also cause mild amnesia.
I enjoy using concussions when you need another character to subtly take over the fight/scene, it's an easy way to switch POVs. You could also use it if you need a 'cute' recovery moment with A and B.
4. Fractured Finger
A broken finger can complicate tasks that require fine motor skills. This would be perfect for characters like artists, writers, etc. Or, a fighter who brushes it off as nothing till they try to throw a punch and are hit with pain.
5. Road Rash
Road rash is an abrasion caused by friction. Aka scraping skin. The raw, painful sting resulting from a fall can be a quick but effective way to add pain to your writing. Tip: it's great if you need a mild injury for a child.
6. Shoulder Dislocation
This injury can be excruciating and often leads to an inability to use one arm, forcing characters to confront their limitations while adding urgency to their situation. Good for torture scenes.
7. Deep Laceration
A deep laceration is a cut that requires stitches. As someone who got stitches as a kid, they really aren't that bad! A 2-3 inch wound (in length) provides just enough pain and blood to add that dramatic flair to your writing while not severely deterring your character.
This is also a great wound to look back on since it often scars. Note: the deeper and wider the cut the worse your character's condition. Don't give them a 5 inch deep gash and call that mild.
8. Burns
Whether from fire, chemicals, or hot surfaces, burns can cause intense suffering and lingering trauma. Like the previous injury, the lasting physical and emotional trauma of a burn is a great wound for characters to look back on.
If you want to explore writing burns, read here.
9. Pulled Muscle
This can create ongoing pain and restrict movement, offering a window to force your character to lean on another. Note: I personally use muscle related injuries when I want to focus more on the pain and sprains to focus on a lack of mobility.
10. Tendonitis
Inflammation of a tendon can cause chronic pain and limit a character's ability to perform tasks they usually take for granted. When exploring tendonitis make sure you research well as this can easily turn into a more severe injury.
This is a quick, brief list of ideas to provide writers inspiration. Since it is a shorter blog, I have not covered the injuries in detail. This is inspiration, not a thorough guide. Happy writing! :)

out of context tag game
thanks for the tag @keeping-writing-frosty !!
---
She drifted into the family aisle. Here was the collection of animated movies, from Moana, all the way back to Pinocchio. There really was something comforting about the old animation style. The way each frame was hand-drawn, evoking emotion and individualistic art styles was really –
And then Eileen died.
Felt like it, anyway.
As she mused over whether to rent out The Jungle Book or The Aristocats, a boy popped up over the shelf, somehow producing a noise that Eileen could only describe as unnatural, or perhaps demonic.

I'm not sure if this counts as a trope or not, but like, when a group has an uneven number of people in it, and everyone pairs off into couples until there's one person left single by the end of the show/book/whatever
And the creator will ALWAYS make them randomly meet someone in like, the final scene
It kills me every time
Yesterday we did tropes we enjoy, today, I wanna do tropes we dislike! I personally don’t have a least favorite, I like to read any tropes as long as the story/plot is good. Plus there’s like so many tropes too I believe. How about all of you?

In a new post, show the last line you wrote/drew and tag as many people as there are words, or just as many as you'd like

these just kept getting better
Quick tips for writing kisses
⇰ the pause. THE PAUSE. like “are we doing this? oh god we’re doing this.”
⇰ looking at each other’s mouths like it’s a life-or-death decision
⇰ someone whispering “can I?” or “just once” before going for it and RUINING ME EMOTIONALLY
⇰ hands. gripping shirts. cupping faces. hovering like “do I touch?? I WANNA TOUCH”
⇰ breath hitching?? yes. shakiness?? absolutely.
⇰ that stupid moment where one of them pulls back a few inches like “wait are you sure” and the other just goes for it again
⇰ kissing like they’re scared it’ll be the last time
⇰ kissing like they’ve been waiting ten goddamn years
⇰ teeth clashing awkwardly and both laughing about it but STILL FEELING IT
⇰ one of them freezing for a second mid-kiss because the feelings just hit
⇰ the post-kiss moment of “uh. so. yeah.” where neither knows what the hell just happened
⇰ OR the post-kiss forehead touch. destroy me.

My ultimate goal with being a writer is to scroll somewhere and see a fanfic of something I made. I couldn't be happier if I was capable of helping someone with a foundation I set. <3

"I missed you" "I've been gone two hours" kills me every time
soft vs hard love dialogue and prompts
➣ SOFT LOVE
♡ "you're cute when you're mad."
♡ soft shoulder kisses.
♡ "home is where you are, whether it is here, in the deepest ocean or hottest desert, you are my home."
♡ slow and curious first kiss, both characters seemingly nervous, blush painting their faces.
♡ stolen glances across the room.
♡ "the gods took their time with you."
♡ wearing their heart on their sleeves around each other.
♡ character A's face blushing as B smootheres them in compliments even years into their relationship with character B.
♡ quiet murmurs of affection.
♡ “i missed you.” “i was gone for two hours.”
♡ coffee shop and bookstore dates.
➣ HARD LOVE
♡ guttural rain confessions.*
♡ "do you not get it? every second i spend in the absence of your presence pains me."
♡ harsh and passionate first kisses.
♡ "i fucking yearn for you and you haven't so much as spared me a glance in years!"
♡ walls that they have each spent years building crumbling in the presence of one another.
♡ heated arguments turned into heated confessions.
♡ "i hate you! i hate you so much i can't bear to be near you." "you are walking a fine line between hate and desire, love."
♡ both being far too stubborn to admit their feelings, their hearts both caged deep within them.
♡ (years/months) of pent up emotions being aired in an argument and when the dust settles the only emotion left is their desire for each other.
♡ “do you think i want this? do you think i want to be stuck in this endless cycle of wanting you? do you truly think i enjoy waking up every morning realizing you’re not there?”
♡ tears spilling as they finally give in and proclaim their feelings.
♡ “i am not an easy person to love.” “i think i’ve got the hang of it.”
REBLOG TO SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL WRITERS!!<3
* rain confessions coming soon !!

New Intro Post
I've been around consistently since April, and I think It's about time I updated my intro post!
I'm Nightmaricwriter, though I usually use Nightwriter to refer to myself. Others have called my Nightmare and Night, and I don't mind being called such. Sometimes I try to play into my Nightmare name, but that's rare. I'm nineteen years old and I attend a university, where I'm working to get a Creative Writing Major.
My previous intro post claimed that my writing journey began with original fiction, which... I think is a half truth. I began writing around third grade and it started original but eventually became Warrior Cat fanfiction. Don't ask how that happened. However, I didn't truly love writing until a sixth grade assignment in which I had to write a story on a single notebook paper... which turned into a thirty-three notebook paper long story complete with a brief intermission talking about the characters in the middle, I believe. I don't think I have that story anymore. I've been reading obsessively since third grade as well, and you can guess the book series that got me hooked.
I'm a writer. That's what I am and will always be. With that statement, I have to introduce my writing, don't I?
Writing
I write fantasy stories. I like the escape that fantasy can bring, and so that is what I write. However, to practice writing, I write fanfiction. I explore character ideas, magic system ideas, even backstory ideas, within fanfiction if I don't create a character specifically for fanfiction.
Stars of the Sky
My original story, which is my current focus! It is my spin of the idea of names holding power, fantasy, with a magic system my older brother claims is backwards, and a female protagonist who may or may not be a bit too strong at the moment. Hades leaves her Clan to learn more ways to fight as a way to better protect her Clan, which takes her all over Reaki either on missions or to thwart a reversal of an ancient event. Tags I use for Stars of the Sky -sots: stars of the sky, which is my tag for official Stars of the Sky posts that are relatively canon. -sots: world building, which is my tag for posts regarding the general world in Stars of the Sky, such as the naming conventions. -sots: character information, which is the tag for character information and what I use for ask/tag game responses that have canon or canon compliant information. -sots: lore, which is the tag for the lore and history of the world in Stars of the Sky. -sots: setting, which will be used in posts regarding locations in Stars of the Sky. -sots: shenanigans, which is for when I write something random within the real of Stars of the Sky and wish to share it. -stars of the sky, which I use for every post regarding Stars of the Sky. My general use tag. The oldest posts of Stars of the Sky have this tag, while the previously mentioned tags are newer implementations. I have a side blog specifically for Stars of the Sky information! @stars-of-the-sky-nightwriter I have a Naming Conventions series for this going out!
A Court of Death and Ruination This is ACOTAR fanfiction in which I threw Hades, the protagonist of Stars of the Sky into ACOTAR. I explore her abilities, actually writing her, the magic system that is present in Stars of the Sky, and a few other things. Updates every Monday! The master list for this is here! The main tag for this is nightwriter: a court of death and ruination, though I also use nightwriter a court of death and ruination for this. These tags appear on every chapter release as well as posts with information more specific to this, though older posts of this category belong to the tag below. nightwriter fanfiction is also used for this, but this is my general use tag for fanfiction.
Honored Mutuals
@bardic-tales has cool world building posts for their (I would use her, but it seems there's multiple people in that system and I don't want to offend) Fantasy Worlds Collide work, and they often reblog cool images and posts regarding self shipping and writing, I believe. There's a lot to be found with them and they are quite the cool mutual to have. @shepardstales has fun ideas for what she might write, even if she gets writer's block, and her diamond painting progress is cool to see. Also fun to interact with! @kingragnarok-writes has a series, The Heralds of Blood (which he posts chapters of weekly (on Sundays)), which I might not look at but it is cool to learn about the background of! He also reblogs writing related posts, cool images for inspiration, and positive posts! @ominous-faechild is a chaotic gremlin, but also writes things! Most of my interaction with them was them being an art anon. They write a series? Story? called Faerie's Dawn! Heck if I know when they update. @keeping-writing-frosty writes interesting things and is fun to interact with! I might not always read his stuff, but that doesn't mean he writes poorly so check him out.
Those are just a few mutuals and more will be added later.
Hobbies
I write as a hobby, sometimes, but writing is slowly becoming more of just what I do. I read for fun, listen to music for fun, sometimes watch a movie, and I watch anime for fun! A few of the anime I have watched are MHA, Demon Slayer, Haikyuu, Black Butler, Jujutsu Kaisen, a bit of Attack on Titan, Ouran High School Host Club, Nanbaka, and a few others. I also draw sometimes!
Fun Facts
-I am biromantic asexual. Screw the sexual parts of relationships, but I'll go for both genders :> Due to this, many of my characters are on the queer spectrum since I write what I want and no one can stop me. I might have a poor romantic history but that means nothing. -I have a terrible sleep schedule. It gets absurd. -I am slightly autistic. It's there enough to affect me--screw the sound electricity makes when it is trying and failing to turn something on--but not there enough for me to recognize how it affects me fully. -There was a Gaza scam. Here are my thoughts from when it was around.
Tags I use
nightwriter, which I use for every post I make. I do not use it for reblogs. nightwriter writes, which I use for posts regarding my writing. nightwriter draws, which I use for posts with my drawings in them. nightwriter wip, which I use for writings in progress. nightwriter fanfiction, which I mentioned previously. nightwriter reblogs, for the rare time when I reblog the writing of others. Otherwise, reblogs aren't tagged. nightwriter asks, which I use for asks I answer. nightwriter polls, which I use for polls I make. nightwriter shares, for when I reblog posts of friends. nightwriter cat time, which I used when visiting home and taking images of the cats. nightwriter college time, which I use for talking about my experience attending a university. nightwriter art anon arc?, which I used when there was a wild @ominous-faechild hiding in anon and being chaos. nightwriter messes around, is self explanatory. nightwriter music tastes?, when I talk about random music things. nightwriter out of context, for when I post about things without giving context. nightwriter ponders, when I wonder things. nightwriter paper break, which I used for when I was taking a break from writing a paper. Might use again. nightwriter randomly reblogs, which explains itself. nightwriter reflects?, when I think about things from the past. nightwriter rants, when I rant about random things. nightwriter reads, which I use when I talk about what I'm reading. nightwriter rambles, which is a the same as the rant tag, but for when I just ramble. nightwriter sprouts nonsense, which explains itself. nightwriter struggles, for when I am struggling. nightwriter tagged, I think I used this when I was tagged? nightwriter writing pains, when I am hurting due to writing. nightwriter writing advice, when I've found writing advice. nightwriter panders to the faechild, for when I try to appease the chaos gremlin that is @ominous-faechild when I like their stuff without reading even though the glimpses of their writing I get is amazing and people should check it out.
