Also I’m also a comic nerd…I think we would classify them closer to mammals…like whales. They give live birth, have mammary tissue/glands from what we can see.

My only qualification for this debate is I received my bachelors in animal science:
Fish are classified because they are an aquatic vertebrae and have gills and fins
Aquatic means they spend their entire lives in water, vertebrates classified by having a backbone/spinal column, most fish have gills that extract oxygen from the water however most do and only some animals that are fish have evolved alternative methods to extract oxygen from water, typically have fins for swimming but not all.
There are very few cases of fish that don’t have scales, fins or gills. But the important distinction from fish and humans is that fish have a flexible backbone (almost cartilage like) to help them swim and keep light in the water. We don’t have like….what the skeleton of the three are made of…perhaps they can be lighter to be able maneuver in water…but also keep in mind that humanoids are typically classified as a humanoid for having all characteristics of a humanoid. We typically walk and fish do not have the ability to walk.
I think the best like answer to put it frank is Aquaman, Namor and Mera are Atlantean- a fictional species of humanoid that evolved for aquatic life. I wouldn’t call them fish on an evolutionary standpoint but obviously we don’t call them human.
I’m having a debate right now.
