oh btw it is baby crow season (May-June in most of North America) so if you get screamed at or attacked by crows it is because you have accidentally walked too close to a fledgling crow who is hiding on the ground somewhere and the parents are just doing their job. proceed calmly and quickly away from the adults and do not fight back or stand your ground. if you fuck this up badly enough and convince them you are a threat, they will remember your face and start attacking you the rest of the time even when there aren't babies around. if you see a fledgling on the ground leave it completely alone unless it's in immediate danger of being run over, eaten by a predator, or stepped on, in which case pick it up gently and firmly around the body, holding the wings closed, and move it into a sheltered area, preferably dense underbrush. touching a baby crow won't "make the parents abandon it" but they will get very mad at you until you put it down and leave. also keep your cats and dogs inside unless you're escorting them
