I laughed at this so hard I stopped getting air in my body and had to sit down. This isn't a vibrator it's a failed homunculus and it's in terrible pain

"im not interested in this. this genre's not my thing"
"this was boring. i couldn't finish it"
"i just cant get into anything retro. it looks too old."
"im waiting for a remake of this game, it's old so the gameplay is too jank."
my hottest take that artists and authors have a hard time hearing and understanding is that if you want to create anything actually good and of value you need to experience at least 10x more art than you create. especially stuff outside of your comfort zone.
i had a friend in highschool/college who was obsessed with horror and was writing really bad novels and was aiming to get published but he refused to read or watch any classics (and stuff outside of the genre) so his stuff just ended up being accidentally derivative and basic.
similarly, one of my core beliefs is that its important for your soul and mind to experience a wide variety of art genres all the time as much as you can. because if youre stuck with one "thing" you get moldy. you grow mold.
