Bruce does sometimes absolutely forget about his privileges in life, so when reality hits him over the head with a dose of what things are like without privilege (like when @clawsextended's Holly is being a menace, and he's realizing Selina raised Holly when she was still a teenager herself and also with minimal resources), he has real moments of "wait, wtf??? HOW???" and then has to sit and wrap his head around the situation, and donations to various charities are made within the next few days.

Also, for anyone not following my main blog: no, the health issues are not resolved yet. I am scheduled for an EMG at the end of January to test my nerves and am being referred to both a neurologist and a pain clinic. So. We’ll see how all that goes.

But I am mostly done with school and just have my final paper to work on, so that’s my main focus as well as trying to revive the muse to be here!

I am thinking about the way that Bruce puts so much on his shoulders, that he only relies on himself, but how that is so heavily contrasted with the way that he believes in people and needs a family, and how because he's seen the way that humanity can be so, so bad, it all just convalesces into a man who overthinks everything to degrees that should be impossible.

Like, the man is just so full of contradictions and juxtaposition, and he doesn't know how to actually put these contradictions into his boxes, so then he just. Overthinks.

I was rewatching Young Justice and the fact that all versions of Robin are the only one forced to keep their secret identity even with their teammates and friends is usually written off as Batman being paranoid. I think it's more than that, that it's his way of giving the kids an 'out'. If they ever decide they don't want to fight crime anyone they have a safe identity to return to, no obligations.

They are children first, soldiers second. Bruce knows better than anyone the loneliness his job brings and of course he would want better for anyone, especially his kids.

I will be making The Batman (2004) verses for Bruce, Dick, and Babs (and I think Clark shows up later; I haven’t met Dick or Babs yet, either, but I know they show up), and I’ll probably add Ellen Yin once I decide on a faceclaim.
