I have talked about this before but the types of people who go “Oh sweetie don’t say you lack empathy, that’s just being harsh on yourself. If you did you would be abusing me right now but instead you are very kind” are fundamentally working from the same principles as the people who go “people with no empathy are inherently evil subhumans who hurt everyone around them for fun.”
Both types of people not only fail to model what having low empathy entails but also arbitrarily assign malice and danger to it, one is just more aggressive about it.
And despite that aggression, I actually find the other type of reaction more personally off-putting to me since I don’t like it when people assume they know my thoughts or feelings better than I do.
I wish people learned to separate empathy from basic morality.

hey. the celebrities and corporations are going to try tumblr. you may want to drive them off the site, or find them amusing, ie “well THIS one can stay.” they may try to engage with the culture. they may do their research. DO NOT ENGAGE. do not bother. don’t fucking acknowledge them. don’t mess with their heads. don’t reply to them as a bit. let them think this site is a lost cause. let them fizzle out and die

There’s a quote from Bert where he says he‘s “known big bird since he was a little bird” and the thought of it makes my heart cry so here’s that
