Cancer sucks & I really need your help.

As discussed in the title, cancer sucks. It is literally the worst thing I have ever been introduced to that wasn’t even a real person that I could punch in the face. 

Late last year it made the foolish mistake of trying to come for one on my best friends in the shape of a brain tumour. Now, I could sit here and tell you all about her illness but if she knew I was doing that she would hate it because she hates sounding like a sad story. She’s brave and she’s beautiful and she’s kind. You ever look at your friend and think “You’re a miracle and you don’t even know it yet”? That's her. 

I’m a writer before I am anything else and not being able to give her enough words to save her has probably been one of the hardest things I’ve struggled with. So now I'm trying to do something much bigger. There’s a line I once said to her and since it’s kind of become a staple slogan for when I think of her. I once told her “You’re the entire sky” and Now I’m trying to prove that sentiment to her across as many countries that exist under the shared sky we’re all living under.

What I’m trying to do is this: Get as many people as humanly possible to write the words “Sarah, you’re the entire sky.” on a piece of paper/post-it note/ just about anything and get a photo of it taken in as many places as possible. I’d like to get the town/city and country also written on the paper (so she can see just how far the words make it) along with a quote of your choosing. Maybe it’s a favourite line from a book/movie/play that you just love the idea of making its way from wherever you are in the world.

It would be great to get a snapshot of your location in the background. Maybe a skyline, maybe a famous building, a gorgeous beach or just your favourite downtown bookstore. Get creative! And don’t forget to sign your name, though this is of course is optional. (But I know she’d love to know your first name!)

This is a global mission of words for someone I care about and love very deeply, I understand that you don’t know me and you certainly don’t owe me anything but this is something that I think could be really beautiful and in the world we’re living in I think we could use a little more beautiful.

If this is something you’d be willing to help me with please spread the word, if you have friends and family in other parts of the world, get them involved in what I hope will be something pretty spectacular.

The end collection will be posted on a website and will also be printed into a book. I have lots of ideas where this journey could go and I’d love to bring you on the ride.

I know I can’t fix things for my friend; I really just want to be able to do something for her in a big way because she’s worth doing anything for if it gives her a good day.
