Wriothesley comes in with business for ‘sir’ Rafe. Cromwell nods to him, and then turns to go.

It’s like he’s passed over the mantle, fully, and this is really the end. They’re managing fine without him, doing the work he did, unknowingly beginning to fill the gap he’s about to leave. This life they’ve had together is over now, Thomas will step out of it forever.

And indeed, this is the last scene he and Rafe have with each other before his fall and arrest :(
