I want to bear the weight of rebellion in our first kiss, feel shackles free when I go form on you. I want to hold your hand when we get yelled at once we're caught. I want to protect you from our parents' anger. I want to feel your anxieties settle when our mother admits she allows it. I want to fight with you, to make things safe for us and others like us. I want to learn how long I go into a stupor after finishing you. I want to have a mock wedding and lie about why we have the same last name.

One of my long-standing favorite characters is my ranger who was raised by wolves, and her animal companion is her sister— it was actually her that wanted to go adventuring, and the ranger is tasked with keeping her safe. Of course, even without magical aid she's able to communicate with her family:

"Why don't you pack a bedroll, don't you get cold in the night?"

"Well, my sister is basically a heated blanket with teeth so it's easier just to cuddle her."

Embarrassed wolf noise

"Don't give me that, you whine if we don't sleep in a pile!"

But more than that, her older sister status means that there's pseudo parenting moments:

"Hang on, did you sneak in some extra entrails before bed? Your breath is going to smell terrible come morning, let's brush your teeth again."

"I know liver is your favorite, but you have to eat other parts too, it's important to have a balanced diet!"

And you might say "This could literally just be any ranger", and you're not wholly wrong, but consider that maybe I just want a wolf sister to cuddle
