what a way to announce your skills issue anyway how long is y'all's longest internet friendship, mine is 14 years
#my as of writing two closest online friends I've known for nearly 5 and 6 years respectively#most of the rest of my close online friends are anywhere from less than that to about 8 years#and I have a couple of good friends I've known for over a decade and while I don't hear from them too often we are still in contact#I have never been in a voice call with any of them and most of them don't know what I sound like but I love them#also I have a D&D group that are my closest IRL friends made up of people my closest high school friend met at university#i've known high school bestie anywhere from 12 to 17 years depending on who you ask and have known the rest of the group almost 7#they're technically online friends as 99% of our interaction is over voice call but we have gotten together IRL a few times

So wait are livestock guardian dogs to their flocks like… Clark Kent among the residents of Smallville? He’s been here since he was a baby, we all know him, and he’s… generally one-of-us shaped, uh, approximately. And then when something goes wrong he suddenly leaps into action and does some terrifying impossible shit none of us could do. And then comes back home and settles in like nothing happened and he’s one of us again.

very strange phenomenon now that many people have learned online not to pet service dogs is that they walk by little bird and me, wave their hands at little bird, and say in a baby voice "oooohh you're so cute! you're so cute! i'm not going to pet you because i know you're working! ooohhhh puppy puppy puppy, i want to pet you but i'm not allowed~" and i have to tell them what they're doing is literally as distracting as petting her. this happens almost every single time i'm out with her.
