Tutorial: adding new shapes to bodyshapes mod
Here's the promised tutorial. I'm sorry about the delay. Please also note that this is for v2 of the mod only; v1 is no longer supported.
Before I begin, I've realized I forgot to credit Quinctia the first time around. Their tattoo boxes and tutorial were where I started experimenting with overlays, and this mod contains resources cloned from their work. So, I'm giving them belated credit here.
First, one very important warning that was exceptionally frustrating to figure out and is responsible for most of the delay: you MUST use SimPE v0.73.44 for this. IIRC, later versions process certain kinds of resources a little differently, and the difference in the resulting package breaks a few kinds of mods/CC. This is apparently among them. Following this tutorial with any version of SimPE past 0.73.44 will very likely damage the character file of the sims the resulting overlay is applied to. (Specifically, in testing I found it to screw up the face and body meshes stored there.) If you test the overlay and the test subject's UI portrait completely blanks out (not just their face texture, but their hair/body/accessories too), then this is probably what's happened, and the best thing to do is throw it all out and start over.
With that out of the way, you'll need...
a pair of nude meshes, top and bottom, for each age group the shape is available for. A full-body nude mesh won't work.
a full set of seven outfits in the shape, set up as in this tutorial, for each age group the shape is available for. YA/A/E can all use the same outfits as long as they're enabled for all three ages.
a shape number. This has to be an eight-digit hex number; the first six digits all have to be zero, and the last two can't be zero or one and can't be the same as any other shape for the same gender. I've got a list here on Dreamwidth of a few numbers I've used or am planning to use. Please leave a comment telling the rest of us which number you're using for any shape you set up.
these template files.
You probably want...
a hex editor. This is optional, but it speeds things up quite a bit. I'm using HxD in the screenshots.
Open up Bodyshop and start a new project. All we need are valid group and family numbers; once you've copied those down somewhere, you should throw the project out. (If you leave it in the Projects folder, it'll conflict with your shape.) An eye color is probably quickest.
Get the following numbers together:
the new group and family numbers from your Bodyshop project
the shape number
two new GUIDs (generated however)
the instance-high and instance numbers for both the CRES and SHPE of each nude mesh
the group number for each outfit being used
Make a copy of the two template files and the template spreadsheet.
You have two main options from this point: either use the 'Hex Editing' tab on the template spreadsheet to find-and-replace various numbers reasonably quickly and then do a few more things by hand, or go the slower route, use the 'By Hand' tab, and replace them all in SimPE.
If you're using a hex editor:
Fill the requested numbers into the correct green boxes in the "Hex Editing" tab. Do all of them before you do any find-and-replacing.
Copy/paste the orange boxes into the hex editor's "replace" field, and copy/paste the yellow boxes into the hex editor's "find" field.
Make sure you pay attention to which numbers you can expect to find in which file, make sure you're in hex mode when you f&r, and make sure the numbers you're using are correct. If you paste in something with a different number of digits, your file will break and you'll need to start over.
Once you're done with find-and-replace, open up SimPE. Make sure you don't get any errors when opening resources up, and do a few spot checks to make sure, for example, that the most common group number you're seeing is the same as what Bodyshop gave you. If things seem OK, do the remaining replacements listed in the "Hex Editing" sheet by hand.
If you're editing by hand:
Look at the "By Hand" tab in the template workbook, which lists the various places you'll find the numbers you need to swap out and gives you room to organize the new ones. Please note that all numbers are hexadecimal even where not marked: 10 isn't twice five but twice eight.
If you'd like to speed things up without a hex editor: export all the resources inside Template1.package, open up the package.xml file in a text editor, find-and-replace every instance of "3166489547" with the DECIMAL version of whatever group number you got from your Bodyshop project, save, and then import those resources to a new (shape)1.package file using the edited package.xml file. (Note that SimPE won't show you the package.xml file by default.) You'll still have a heck of a lot of numbers to replace, but this will take care of several dozen.
Regardless of the method:
You'll need to make the BHAV edit pictured above - change Literal 3 (which is invalid) to Literal 0 or Literal 1 as appropriate.
One thing you'll want to keep in mind: the gender BHAVs detect for any given sim will always match the pronouns on their chance cards. If you're setting up a shape for trans women, for example, you'll want the BHAV to make it available to women even though those outfits are in the broader-shouldered half of the catalog. The mod won't be able to stop you from trying to apply a shape to sims it won't fit; if that happens, you'll get an error message and the sim's appearance won't change.
At this point you're ready to check things out in game.
One last, frustrating troubleshooting note: if most things seem fine but one particular outfit makes the game crash when a sim swaps into it, then after double-checking that it's been referenced correctly, make sure the GZPS in the recolor file is not compressed. I don't know why that's sometimes a problem, but I ran into it a couple of times during testing.
Here's a link to the updated V2 SFS folder, which contains the shape templates (note that the UniformTemplate file is for the older tutorial on giving sims with certain traits different age-up outfits), an updated version of the core mod and the Lady Apple files, and the Athletic Girl files created while getting this tutorial together. All meshes are included. If you set up any other shapes, please let me know!

It's the same story over and over again. Please stop giving your money (or promotion!) to people who call us (yes, all of us!) fools, and continue to be mean lest anyone responds with anything but unconditional positive engagement. There's no way that this community is so deprived of content that we'd settle for bare minimum. Bare minimum in this case is releasing content that works (allegedly), and responding to feedback respectfully.

🎱POOL TABLE DEFAULT🎱
i fixed the hideous mapping on the pool table "Corner Pocket Pool Table" that comes with university. i used smart uv project in blender (i think) and got the uv to work with patterns mainly.
i also did some recolours of both the wood and the felt, the felt is mainly patterned and the wood is in goat's textures and some of pooklet's naturals and unnaturals, swatches are below for those
felt texture went from 256x128 to 512x256. didnt touch the mesh except for the uv but the polys for that are 1.9k polys
this is my first ever default made from scratch (without editing other defaults) so any problems pls let me know!!
you can also even further default your pool tables with @pforestsims' pool balls replacement!

it's been on my mind for some time now but i feel like the way many simmers approach ts2 hobby system is a bit... too one-dimensional to me?
i don't know, everyone is too focused on the "one true hobby" that basically nothing else matters. i like the idea of one true hobby but i feel like in a way it deters players from trying other hobbies with the same sim. the way the game decides on it is also personality-based which sometimes makes little sense, like artists and mechanics can sure as hell be grouchy
and usually in this case people also choose to change oth they think doesn't match, but i've been thinking about it as well and uhhh
i guess i choose to interpret it as the thing your sim would be naturally good at, like a talent, but not necessarily the only thing they want to do, if at all. would be interesting to have a sim with oth for sports, for example, but they actually wanna do science
i dunno just putting my thoughts out there
#the sims 2#ts2#sims 2#yeah#this makes sense#but also i will always change tank grunt's oth to dance#ballerina tank for life

It's funny to me how The Sims 2 still showed up in the top 100 video games tags for 2023 Tumblr Year In Review. Against all odds, we're still relevant. Cockroach ass game.

saw an absolutely hilarious animal crossing theory that i now 100% accept and it’s that in the animal crossing world, humans are going extinct, and so all the animals have locked you in an elaborate zoo enclosure and are trying to give you enrichment. and that’s why they give you infinite pointless tasks, hide money in trees and rocks, invented debt that doesnt matter etc. it’s why they always act so happy to see you even after you raze the entire island, relocate their houses twice, and always act so pleased about your choices no matter what. it’s all to keep their little endangered human healthy and enriched. and thinking of it this way has genuinely improved my experience of the game

Happy screaming! You figured it out! You have no idea how long I've been trying to figure it out!
Saline Bodyshapes Mod - Lady Apple
Here’s a proof-of-concept set of bodyshape mods. It’s likely to be subject to further polishing in the future but is, as far as I can tell, fundamentally sound.
With this in your downloads folder, your adult/elder female sims will have a self-interaction allowing you to choose the Lady Apple bodyshape. Once chosen, their clothing will automatically change to a full set of Lady Apple-sized garments from the Acme Catalog project. Their new body type will be showerproof and will stick across lots and saves, and if they’re adults, they’ll age into Lady Apple-sized elderwear as well. Finally, using a specific hacked object, they’ll be able to automatically buy hidden, Lady Apple-sized copies of correctly set up clothes to prevent the catalog from being cluttered with both Lady Apple and Maxis sizes for the same dress*.
Please note that this mod uses a token and must not be removed without first removing the token from each sim you’ve given it to.
To use this, you’ll need to download clothing meshes and Maxis-sized recolors from the Acme Catalog directly. I’ve only included peasant wear in this; all five everyday peasant recolors are included but only one recolor of each is included for the other categories. I have included the necessary nude meshes, which can also be found here, with thanks to the Acme Catalog’s generous TOU.
Posts going into more detail about the inner workings of the mod will follow at some point.
Download the mod here at SFS.
*Caveat: the method I’ve used doesn’t work for clothes that are categorized exclusively as outerwear (though outerwear plus casual, etc., is fine), nor does it permit maternity wear to be chosen.
Some pictures are below the cut.

Hi! You mean the ones in 267 Avon Avenue, right?
They are actually maxis, not sure which EP, but you should find them in the Stone selection, and they are a set of three different but matching floor tiles. :)

Maxis "Dirty" Neighborhood Templates
Someone in the ld server was asking about this, and for the life of me I could not find this on google no matter how hard I looked, so I decided to upload it here. These are the original neighborhood templates from the sims 2 install files. Including all the corrupted ancestors, mismatched hair and eyebrow colors, broken faces, maxis townies, etc. In case you want to make your own clean templates, rawdog the sims 2 the way daddy Will Wright intended, or whatever else.
Download them here

Yuxi's "Xiao Outfit 2" in 6 Male Body Shapes
新年快乐, everyone. Take this as my New Year's gift to you.
I've converted this outfit to the body shapes shown above. Textures are a bit better in game because I took these pics before I re-imported the textures in Simpe :S Standalone files, AM only, enabled for everyday and formal wear, fat and preg morphs, normal shoe sounds, compressorized. Comes in the original 5 colors. LBB and Fat come in (legacy) BSOK options.
Let me know if there are any issues! Also, I'm open to feedback as to what body shapes are most popular that you'd like me to focus on. I personally use the bottom row pictured above, but I can make more shapes for followers if desired :)
Download! (SFS)
credit to Yuxi, @withlovefromsimtown, @julietoon, and Aquilegia for the WSO's, @blueheavensims for the tutorial I followed, @synapticsim for NuAM

TS2 Death Mods
There are some lists like this out there, but none were quite what I had in mind, which was mods that make sims more of a danger to each other, rather than a more dangerous environment or being a danger to themselves.
Kill Visiting Playables - Playable sims can die as visitors to another household
Disease Mod - Recovery points (how fast a sim recovers from disease) are easier for sims to lose and more challenging to accumulate; The "Advanced" version of the mod enables the gain/loss of recovery points and disease markers (left on the tile where a sim expressed a symptom that can infect other sims) to also happen on community lots, instead of only the sim's home lot
Frequent Disease Processing - Severity of disease changes every single cycle (~1 hour) instead of every six cycles (~9 hours)
Deadly Zombies - New zombie interaction "Eat" where if they win the fight, the other sim dies and their hunger is filled
Deadly Werewolves - New werewolf interaction "Ravage" where if they win the fight, the other sim dies and their hunger is filled
Deadly Neck Bite - New vampire interaction "Deadly Neck Bite" where the other sim dies after being bitten and their hunger is filled
Thunderbolt - Either the original PandoraSims version (in the "spells_full" zip folder) or the version edited by MidgeTheTree (requires Midge's main "witchspellsmod" file); New evil witch spell "Thunderbolt" that kills the targeted sim with a lightning strike
NOTE: You have to edit the ingredients BCON in the mod package via SimPE to adjust the amount of required reagents for casting the spell, otherwise the spell needs 12 Viper Essence, 12 Eye of Newt, 12 Dragon Scales, and 12 Mystic Dust
Crate of Throwing Axes - Exactly what it sounds like; Choose a target sim, and they get an axe in the head (and death). Buyable object under Misc. > Misc.

When they stopped sending my prescription to places that would fill it & I had skipped enough doses, I went like close to a year without meds because I Could Not Enough to even begin to climb out of that pit. (I'm good now.)
"to get treatment for adhd you (person with untreated adhd) need to schedule and then show up for several appointments" is the kind of shit the greek gods would inflict on a guy who ate his son

Oops, wait, I was up my own Tumblr for a second, but there's also the Skydiving Tube from TS1 (not mine) & the Ice Cream Stand (not mine) as some of my favorite 1t2 remakes.
You ever see any mods that add any real cool content from sims 1 from to sims 2, always thought those weird phone call were cute extras
Lazy Duchess added the ts1 prank calls, you can get them here. There's a few postal systems that will let you send things to other Sims like you could while on vacation in Sims 1. Here's a pinterest with objects that have been converted, @crispsandkerosene has made several useful objects and @deedee-sims mad a gnome crafting station. I made an object to make it look like Sims are acting. I always loved the Studio Town stuff in Sims 1, I wish we had more of that for SIms 2

Um, do you want one car (NL Driveable)? Because I have one car (linked) but with less rust & more colors. Actually I think the TS1 version was a hardtop Bel Air now that I think of it, but, I mean, ya know... It's something?
