Poppet Tutorial

Original inspiration for this lesson comes from iladisparu’s Voodoo Doll Tutorial on YouTube. I make my dolls slightly differently, but they’re very similar :) 

Materials:

Yarn (color of your choice)

String

Sewing needle

Buttons

Other Accessories of your choice

Step 1)

Loosely wrap the end of your yarn around four fingers and tie a knot.

Step 2)

After tying a knot, wrap the end of the yarn around your four fingers 8-9 times. Then, remove the bundle from your hand, and, making sure it doesn’t come undone, begin wrapping the loose end of the yarn around the center of the bundle (second picture). Next, separate the bundle into four sections so that it resembles a sort of butterfly (these are going to become the doll’s limbs!).

Step 3)

Once you’ve separated your bundle into four different smaller bunches, start wrapping the loose end of your yarn around the center of the bundle to create a fifth bunch of loops (This is for the doll’s head, I recommend making 4-5 loops for this section). Then, you can begin solidifying your doll by wrapping the loose end of the yarn up and down one of the bundles of loops (do this for all four limbs). 

TIP: Every time you make a limb, wrap the loose end of your yarn around the doll’s center before moving onto the next limb. This helps keep everything together!

Step 4)

Once you’ve finished all the limbs, you can move onto the head. Wrap the loose end of your yarn up and down the bundle of loops dedicated to the head and bend the resulting stub over. Then, begin wrapping the loose end of your yarn around that, keeping in mind you want the result to look spherical. 

Step 5)

Almost there!

When you’ve finished making the head, you can either glue the loose end of your yarn in place on the doll, or, using a large needle, weave it back into the doll’s body. 

At this point, your doll is a blank canvas and ready for you to decorate however you please. I personally just sewed a couple of black buttons for eyes onto mine, but the possibilities are endless. :) Just don’t forget to give your new friend a name.

You’ve mentioned Casting Stones: What are they?

My casting stones are my first divination tool which I devised when I was a baby witch because I couldn’t afford to go out and buy a pendulum or tarot cards. 

The idea for them was inspired by Elder Futhark Runes and Pendulums. I wanted something that could reliably answer Yes/No questions, regardless of slightly shaky hands. I haven’t seen anything similar to them so I wanted to share how I made them and how to use them for all the baby witches and broke witches, or people who are just looking for a different kind of divination tool. 

I picked four smooth river stones from a nearby stream.  that could all fit in my hand at once. They’re all different shapes and but mostly are the same size, and are fairly flat. each of them is a color i connect with one of the four elements. A reddish one for fire, an off white one for wind, a true brown for earth and a dark grey for water. I find that this distinction in color brings more balance to the Casting stones as a group. Then on one side of each of them I drew a sigil each  for truth, connection to the universe, connection and answered questions.  

Here’s how they work: Casting stones like pendulums can tend to take on a life of their own, developing a personality as you work with them. Mine can, and do sass me when I ask silly, confusing or indulgent questions.  They can be used to ask questions of spirits or of the universe, and I have even on a few occasions used them to communicate with deities. I recommend cleansing and charging them once a month at least. The following is the method for using them. 

1. Hold the stones and ask the question aloud or in your head.  2. Toss the stones.  3. Interpret the results

4 stones face up, is a definitive yes.  3 stones face up is a yes, but the answer may be influenced by your actions.  2 stones face up and 2 face down is an unknown, or a maybe.  3 stones face down is a no, but the answer may be affected by your actions.  4 Stones face down is a definitive no.

Use the website sigil scribe to create a sigil for your intention, then set it as your phone lock screen/background and leave your phone to charge overnight. It will charge your sigil along with the device.

Ways to memorise tarot 🔮✨

Do you want to become more efficient at tarot reading? 78 cards to learn in a whole deck can be confusing, here are some strategies that may help you to become the master tarot reader you are destined to be !

1. Break the cards down into the major arcana and minor arcana - focus on learning one first then the other

2. When learning minor arcana break down into groups of swords, cups, pentacles and wands - learn what each group represents and then focus on the numbers that go with them

3. Draw a card every day and try to memorise it’s meaning

4. Connect more with your deck - you can do this by sleeping with it, talking to it or carrying it around with you places, connecting to your deck will help you feel more motivated to learn the cards

5. Give practice readings to yourself and others! Practice makes perfect

Simple ways to protect yourself! 💫🌙

When doing things anywhere from tarot readings to large rituals it is important to protect yourself. Here’s some easy ways to protect yourself and your space/home.

1. Call upon your Angels and Spirit guides for protection

2. Carry charged and cleansed crystals with you such as clear quartz or black obsidian

3. If you’re a Wiccan wearing pentacle jewlery can provide protection

4. Bless your home or yourself with sage/incense

5. Make consumable moon water and drink throughout the day

6. Carry salt and rosemary charm bags in your pocket or handbag, you can even hang these in the corner of your home for protection

7. Draw/carve sigils on of protection on every day things such as foods, tables, cars, handbags etc.

8. Meditate and raise your vibrations

9. Invision yourself surrounded and protected in a bubble of white light or whatever color you feel drawn to

10. Talk to someone who will understand - If ever you feel extremely threatened or uncomfortable during any time of your practise talk to someone who is experienced and will provide support and help, your safety comes first!

Psychic dream enhancing potion 🔮

This potion is non consumable :) it is to help enhance psychic dreams and messages (my own recipe)

Ingredients:

[EDIT - I forgot to say but yes definitely dilute the essential oils!!]

- 1 tablespoon of lavender essential oil

- 1 tablespoon of frankincense essential oil

- 1 teaspoon of dried chamomile (can be cut open from a tea bag)

- A pinch of dried or fresh rose petals

Method:

- first mix together the oils

- Add the chamomile and stir well

- Lastly add the rose petals

- (optional) let some clear quartz crystals soak in it overnight in a container

- Bottle up mix into a roller bottle or a dropper bottle (squish chamomile and rose leaves in the bottle as well)

- Use before bed, massage onto your temples, neck and wrists and say “may my ancestors, angels and spirit guides allow me to receive psychic messages through my dreams”

- Then go to sleep! (If it does not work the first time, try using it for a consistent amount of days as it may take some time for it to start working)

strawberry luck spell

strawberries are well known in magick to bring about good fortune and favourable circumstances. this is a simple spell to call the energy of the strawberry and bring you luck and perhaps help improve the outcome of a situation. best done during a waxing moon. you will need:

♥  a large ripe strawberry (luck, fortune, favor)

♥  a pinch of sugar (getting what you wish for)

♥ a green candle (good luck and fortune)

light the green candle and hold the strawberry in your hand. pluck the leaf from the top and wave it over the flame (so as not to burn it), then place it in front of the candle to rest.

as you hold the strawberry, think about the issue at hand and what you’d like the outcome to be. meditate on that until you feel as though the strawberry has been adequately charged.

sprinkle a bit of sugar onto your tongue and then eat the strawberry. blow out the candle, and carry the strawberry leaf in your pocket to bring good luck with you.

Drawing Sigils: My Way

Dedicated to the anon who asked, thank you~ <3

 My sigils are basically just a variant of the Witch’s Sigil Wheel. I’ve just added my own flare to it. If you don’t know what that is, it’s this thing, you kind find pictures of it on google pretty easy.

The first thing you’re gonna want to do is come up with your phrase. This will set the sigils intention. We’re gonna use the phrase “The Earth keeps me safe” for this example. Once you’ve got that figured out, pick out the words that are most important to you. We’re going to use “Earth” and “Safe” as our keywords.

(note: traditionally letters that are doubled are taken out, and only single appearing letters make the points.)

Next thing you’re gonna do, is draw lines from one letter to the next. You’ll be making separate lines for each word. Feel free to curve some of these lines, but i think it looks like a mountain or a crystal so we’re gonna keep it c:

And then the next word.

This is really starting to look like a crystal in my eyes! Now it’s time to add some flare. One thing I like to do is add circles around letters that have multiple points on them. And I add crossing lines to any other line that doesn’t have an angle or connection.

To really long lines, I like to add another line parallel to it.

The last part, make it personal! Add some sort of your own flare to it.

I played around with the crystal idea that I was getting, and added things to make it look sparkling and an arrow in the middle to represent protection. 

Lastly I like to keep my sigils in circles, but feel free to skip this step and call it done! Here’s what I came up with!
