Herbal Remedies for Cold and Flu Season
1. DIY Elderberry Thyme syrup – elderberry has been used for centuries in healing because it provides immune support (and has long been thought to banish negative energy). Can be taken both preventatively and to shorten the course of a cold.
2. DIY Cough Drops – these cute cough drops are made with tea and honey to sooth an irritated throat. The original blogger chose hibiscus tea for the taste, but consider using one of the herbal teas she lists at the bottom for a more healing herbal remedy.
3. Lemon, Honey, and Ginger in a Jar – a traditional and internet favorite, this mixture turns into a jelly for when your throat needs serious soothing. Honey has been used for millennia to heal a variety ailments, just be sure to keep this away from infants.
4. 30 Herbs for Cold and Flu Season – for those that like to have options, here is a long list of healing herbs with suggestions on how to use them during cold and flu season.

🚫 witchy warning 🚫
it probably goes without saying but I’m a dumbass and have suffered the consequences before so.. friendly reminder to clean up/cleanse any spell setups once they are finished! Even if your intent is “complete”, tools and ingredients can remain active, overcharge your work, and force undesired results !

📚 A Witch’s Book 📚
there are a lot of different names for a witch’s personal book, which can define what type of book it is. a witch might have multiple books, or just one. however, you don’t need to have one singular book for each topic, it’s perfectly acceptable to keep everything in one book.
📚 GRIMOIRE / AGYR - a book of spells and other knowledge
📚 BOOK OF SHADOWS - a wiccan term for a witch’s book
📚 BOOK OF MOONS - spells and knowledge relating to moon magic
📚 BOOK OF TIDES - a book of sea witchcraft and related knowledge
📚 BESTIARY - lists and accounts of the creatures/spirits you encounter
📚 DREAM JOURNAL - records of your dips into the astral plane
……..and many more types, whatever you like!
things you might want to include in your witch’s book:
rituals / offerings ideas
moon cycle notes
sabbats / rituals
chants / prayers / quotes
astrology notes
spiritual correspondences
herb and crystal associations
recipes / spells / notes on spell results
divination board illustration
tarot readings / notes / spreads

To be a Local Witch
Throughout history and our legends, Witches and Wizards were the crazy men and women that lived on the outskirts of the village. Their craft was wild and strange to those that lived in the village, but, nonetheless, people would seek after their wisdom of the land, the plants, the local spirits, and for wisdom or guidance in their path. These men and women, often bachelors, would know the ins and outs of the region and often went walking alone.
Today, our villages are less rustic and more like local towns, and suburbs. But one can still be a Local Witch, and develop special connections with the land you call home.
Become a Local Witch:
Learn Local Lore Folktales, legends, and even tall tales develop the culture of a town or area. Learn these. Retell them over summer campfires, and over drinks with friends. People will start to LOVE your stories.
Start Frequenting locally owned shops and stores Develop connections and relationships with the owners and those that work there every day. Learn their names, and introduce yourself after visiting more often. Supporting locally owned shops helps small business owners and provides nourishment to your community. This is putting down roots, and develops your connection with the people that shape your town.
Find a Local Bookstore This is an extension of 1 and 2. Locally owned bookstores always have a Local Writers, Local Plants, and Local History sections. Ask inside where these sections are, and start devouring these books. Not only will you be supporting a local shop, but you have a direct source of helpful information. Oftentimes, employees and owners also know a lot of Lore. Talk to them about what you’re interested in learning. They probably have some hidden gems of information.
Learn about your Indigenous Plants Start researching and learning about the flora that grows locally, learn their lore, their uses, and magical or folklore associations. If Natives from your area used these plants, find out how. Learn where these plants grow and research local foraging. If you’ve never foraged, see if you can find a local group that can serve as helpful guides to stay safe. Never ingest anything unless you are SURE.
Start a local Plant Grimoire Keep dried presses of flowers and plants in it, draw and diagram to help you remember what they look like.
Learn about the indigenous animals Research their folklore and mythology. Start finding out what they eat, and what their habitats are. (Safely) Do your part to help foster their growth and health. This could be making insect houses to help local endangered pollinators, or leaving out special birdseed for endangered bird species in the area. (Safely) Start interacting with the non-aggressive species and leave them treats. This is great for birds, deer, rabbits, moles, chipmunks, hedgehogs, etc
Join local Conservation Projects Getting directly involved in wildlife conservation strengthens our spiritual and natural ties to the land we call our home. Taking personal responsibility and interest in it’s stewardship is honoring the spirits of the land, and the Gods.
Use Google Maps while exploring parks, or protected open spaces to drop pins and places where you find animal habitats or useful plants for foraging.
That’s all for now. More will come later I’m sure. Now go be the best local Witch or Druid you can be!

Witchy Wishes:
I want a small, warm house within walking distance of my tiny town. I want a lavender door, and a big tree in the yard. I want to be comfortable in everything I wear, and I want to feel beautiful and mysterious. I want crystals and rocks and gems all around my house. When people walk in they will smell my candles, my incense, my cooking–they will be welcome. My altar will have a home at a window, and I won’t have to hide it for anyone.

Musicians and Witchcraft
Hey all!
Playing an instrument and making music is already so magical. You have the ability to create something from nothing and change your emotional state and of others. Not to mention when you play in a group and everyone’s in tune and you just lose yourself in the music. I can go on and on, but here are some ideas I came up with to add some dank witchcraft:
- charm your instrument for various things like playing more in tune, making you or the listener happier, etc. The type of instrument you play can make this even stronger. For instance, playing a cello or bass is better for grounding vs a violin.
- charm the music you play to do various spells when you play them: change yours or others emotional state, curses, anything really. I like to think of it like sigils, where you charge the music with your intent and playing it can activate the spell.
- on the topic of sigils, put them on your case or music to use them later. You can also put stickers on your case charged with safe travel, protection, etc.
- Put an actual spell on your case to protect your instrument, provide grounding/stability, a find me or theft protection spell, etc
- Use the act of cleaning your instrument! For woodwinds, cleaning all that nasty spit can be a way of cleansing the instrument of negativity/negative thoughts or you can imagine yourself by extension. Polishing can be used to correct mistakes and negativity as well.
- Use your voice! It’s such a strong and powerful instrument at no cost. Sing an original spell or use a song you like, charge the words with your intent, and make it so by singing it into existence.
- compose your own piece. There’s so much power involved in making your own composition because so many little decisions need to be made to further the intent of your spell. What key? What mode? What instruments? What chords? Do the notes stagnate? Go up? Down?
- Play as an offering for deities or spirits. By doing this, you put energy not only in the music but in deciding what they would like or what feels like them.
- Use the energy in making music as an energetic exercise. When playing, feel your aura and work with raising/lowering it or sensing others and what they’re feeling. I know this sounds weird and I’m not explaining this too well, but when I play I can feel energy better. Maybe it’s because my conscious mind is busy and my subconscious comes out more easily?
- A lot of these can be even stronger when done with a group. Not only is it more people throwing their energy into the mix, but you can play with the different instruments and music.
- there’s literally so many different things you can do these are just things i can think of off the top of my head.
Enjoy and hopefully this helped someone!
