Yet another obvious gardening hack
Please label your seeds when you plant them…
Especially if the plants look similar!
I thought I had grown a very nice peppermint plant…. until I smelled it this morning…. it’s lemon balm!!
So yeah, please label your plant pots to avoid little mistakes like that!

Witchy Energetic Cleaning
Cleaning out energetic debris, or stale energy that hasnt moved, could include anything! Losing a job, a family member, lingering feelings about a breakup or even spiritual energy that was in your home before you moved in.
You can clear energy by using smoke, sound, movement, magical waters, and help from minerals and crystals. The idea is to fill the space with a positive energy so there’s no room for negativity to linger.
Here’s a way to clean the energy in your home using herbs:
Gather your selected herbs, a fireproof bowl, and matches or a lighter on your workspace. Before you start, set an intention. What do you want your home to feel like? Hold that in your mind. Light your herbs, and wave the smoke around the furniture and along the walls. Make sure the smoke gets under furniture, in corners and closets, and anywhere dust and stale energy might collect. Move through the whole house until you get to the front door (or an appropriate window if you live in an apartment building), and as you open it, watch the smoke carry all of that excess energy out of your home and life. You can repeat this whenever you feel the energy in your home become stale.
*make sure to have proper ventilation in your home before smoke cleansing to protect your health. research every herb you use before burning. stay safe!

i’ve been seeing a lot of shitty divination advice going around on witchblr, especially concerning alternative tarot and cartomancy reading techniques. fuck that. anyways, here is the cartomancy system that i use lmao. it’s based heavily (but not exactly) on the minor arcana of the thoth tarot deck. there are a ton of playing card divination systems that often conflict or rely on really niche esoteric folk symbolism, so i just use this system. it works for me, it can work for you. great for if you dont have any tarot cards on hand, even better for parties. give a reading with the cards they were just playing with! never fails to impress haha. the absence of the major arcana also keeps the mood light without losing any of the details.
this system uses words that are collectively idealized. it’s a system to work with the ego. remember, with truth comes burden and with pleasure comes pain.
magic = power, force, unseen nature, divine will
compassion = love in all it’s forms (storge, philia, eros, and agape)
understanding = knowledge and application of human machination(s)
opportunity = a moment in space/time for new manifestations
the court cards represent people, objects, events and otherwise tangible focal points of any readings they appear in
i’ll also mark the jokers, one as The Fool and another as The World. if there is a 3rd joker, i toss it. but marking it as The Devil or even as The Lover would be good options imho.
hope this is helpful to someone out there <3

Tea drinkers read this!!!
If you buy pre-made herbal tea blends (usually have names like Bedtime, Calm, etc) check the ingredients. I just saw a Nighttime blend that had St. Johns Wort in it, which can be dangerous when mixed with some medications. Talk to you doctor what herbs you should avoid. (Especially when you want to ingest st. Johns wort or mugwort)
A simple hint to remember is just because its in a food store, doesn’t mean its safe.

Graduating from a beginner to a full practitioner: altars
I’m about to share with you the secret to figuring out Altars.
Are you sitting there looking at a display of objects that don’t bring any emotion? Are you arranging things based off a diagram you saw on Pinterest with no real attachment to it? Are you just kinda stuck and nothing feels right, but you don’t exactly know how to fix it?
Here’s the secret.
Put something silly on your altar.
Useful, purposeful, but objectively silly.
For me it was the tiny Ho-oh figurine ive had since i was a kid, got it from pre-ordering Pokemon Heartgold. It’s a fire type so instead of dedicating a candle to my Fire element representation (it was a squeeze financially at the time and I had to make all 6 of my tea lights last as long as I could) I used this tiny Pokémon figurine.
And it made perfect sense for its purpose! A very adequate, sensible representation of the element fire that just so happened to come from a video game. It even looks cool!
And once my brain accepted that yes, this tiny video game statue belongs on my altar... it was like the floodgates opened and suddenly I could just... put things there. Take things off. Move things where they made sense to be! Keep things in places that helped me be productive and at ease in my workspace.
Everything made sense the moment my brain accepted that having a Pokémon statue on my altar was okay because once THAT was okay suddenly things like moving my wand to a shelf on the wall above the altar or keeping my divination tools on the left side of my table because I’m left handed and that’s the direction I’m going to be reaching seemed like nothing in comparison even though I was terrified of them before.
And you know what? That statue is still there today.

Witchy Updates!
So i collected my first jar of rainwater today! super excited, im already getting this really refreshing and soothing vibe from it and I personally feel so much calmer. I cleansed the jar with some incense, and used the same incense stick to cleanse my room(not sure if thats allowed but oh well).
i’m also planning on starting a “jar collection” to help fund my need for jars, and starting a nightly schedule of meditating and journaling. right now all i’ve got is incense, a shadow journal, and a jar of fresh rainwater. not sure how i’m going to get my crystals, i know where i can get the candles, and i have some of my herbs figured out. ahhhh im so excited!!
(if you have any tips for baby witches still in the broom closet please pm or send an ask!)

So you’ve made a spell jar….now what?
I was recently asked what to do with a spell jar once it’s made. I thought my answer would be simple, but the more I wrote, the more I realized it wasn’t. So here’s a guide for those that need it showing what to do with different bottles depending on your intent.
Positive influence on yourself or in your life: -Place somewhere you will see it very often, like a sunny window, bedside table, desk, or altar. Seeing it every day will help strengthen your intent and remind yourself why you made it. -Place somewhere that you meditate. If you meditate regularly you can take a few moments during that time to hold the jar and focus on the spell, the result that you want, and how to help make that happen. -Keep it on your person throughout the day. If the jar is small enough, it can be kept on you inside a purse/bag, coat pocket, or as a necklace. It will act as a conductor for the positivity that you want.
Beauty/Glamour: -Place on vanity or in bathroom. Placing it at the central point of your daily beauty routine will maximize the use of the spell bottle. -Keep in makeup bag/kit. Keeping it in a container with all of your beauty supplies will infuse it’s intent with everything inside. -Stash inside your dresser or closet with the clothes that correspond to your spell (date clothes, party/club clothes, formal wear, lingerie). -Bury in a pot of flowers and keep by a mirror you use for your daily beauty routine. Flowers are a universal symbol of beauty and having something living channel your spell makes it much stronger. -Keep it on your person throughout the day. If the jar is small enough, it can be kept on you inside a purse/bag, coat pocket, or as a necklace. Keeping the jar close to you will help influence the beauty spell/glamour longer and stronger.
Weight Loss/Gain and Exercise: -Stash inside your gym bag/locker. It will serve as a boost right before you work out. -Keep with your food. If you are using it to control eating habits, keep it in your pantry/fridge IN FRONT of all of your food. It will be a barrier between you and your food. You’ll have to get past the jar before you touch anything else. -Keep it on you’re kitchen table. If you are using it to battle eating disorders and/or increase your eating habits, place it where you eat all of your meals. -Take it with you while you move. If you like to ride your bike for exercise, use an unbreakable/break resistant bottle and tie it to your bike. If you like to walk/run with your kids in a running stroller, put it on the stroller where your child can’t reach it. -Store it with your work out clothes. The spell will bleed over into the clothes so that you have it whenever you put them on. -Keep it on your person. If the jar is small enough, it can be kept on you inside a purse/bag, coat pocket, or as a necklace. It will influence you as well as remind you of our goals all day.
Influence Relationships: -Place in the heart of your home. If you are trying to influence your family or the relationships within, keep it where you’re family spends time together the most (kitchen, livingroom mantle, game room, dining room). If you can’t practice openly at home, use a container that is pretty and not see through, fill it completely so it doesn’t rattle, and glue it shut. That way, to everyone else, it will just be pretty decoration. -Give it as a gift. Decorate the bottle and give it as a gift to the person whose relationship with you, you want to influence. -Keep next to their photo. Keep it next to a photo of the person you wish to change your relationship with. -Keep it on your person. If the jar is small enough, it can be kept on you inside a purse/bag, coat pocket, or as a necklace. The bottle will work it’s magic whenever you are around the specified person.
Health: -Stash in the bedroom. Placing the jar on your nightstand, under your pillow, or under your bed will allow health spells to work while you sleep, especially if you are bedridden. -Store with your medicine. If you have to take medication regularly, store it with your meds. -Keep next to your drinking water. If you use drinking water that isn’t from a tap, store the jar where you store your water. The spell will bleed into your drinking water to influence your health. -Keep it on your person. If the jar is small enough, it can be kept on you inside a purse/bag, coat pocket, or as a necklace. If it is on your person, it can influence your health all day, healing you or protecting you from an illness that is spreading.
Dreams: -Stash in the bedroom. Placing it on your nightstand, under your pillow, or under your bed will keep it close while you sleep so it can influence your dreams. -Store with your pajamas. Storing it with the clothes that you sleep in will infuse them with the spell’s energy (unless you sleep naked of course, but I don’t need to know about that).
Wards/Banishments: -Keep it on your person. If the jar is small enough, it can be kept on you inside a purse/bag, coat pocket, or as a necklace. It will act as a shield to keep away whatever you want. -Bury it in your yard. If you are just trying to banish something/someone from your life or ward them away from your home and family, bury it in your yard. It will act as a shield. -If you are trying to banish something/someone and send them far away from you, bury next to train tracks. -If you are trying to banish thoughts or habits or trying to forget something, bury it in a cemetery. If you can’t bury it in a cemetery, bury it somewhere in the woods and forget it’s location.
If anyone wants to add something that I missed, please feel free!

This is a charging board!
It is a simple way to charge up and cleanse your crystals without having to focus on visualisation. Simply put your crystal in the center of a piece of paper, and write around it two categories of words: the things you want to fill your crystal with, and the things you want out of them. Then draw arrows pointing into the crystal for the positives, and away from it for the negatives.
This is a visual way to charge/cleanse without having to maintain focus. I’m certain it could work for any object you want to use, not just crystals!
