Rylee Hestia Perri
full name: Rylee Hestia Perri nicknames: Rylee usually just goes by Rylee, but some of her friends call her Ry gender: Female age: 24 blood type: B+ date of birth: September 6th zodiac sign: Virgo religion: She's not religious, but she is spiritual. overall appearance:  I aspire to be strong, independent, and carefree, but damn, no one ever told me it's this hard ! height: 5'7 weight: 158 lbs eye color: Greyish blue hair color: She's dyed it orange, but it's naturally brown fashion style: Rylee tends to prefer dark colors and has sort of a dress casual style. She'll usually wear a white dress shirt with a bowtie ( x x x ) and a floral skirt (x x x ) When she actually gets the chance to dress up formal, she goes for dresses with again, flowers. ( x x x ) scent: Rose, Cherry Cola, Autumn Species: Human personality: Ry has always been fairly smart, but is very physically weak. Everyone really just relies on her brains. She is often stressed and anxious with her job and other things in life and has always been an all around anxious person. She stays organized to help with that and has a very certain way she likes everything, she wants nothing out of line or place. Rylee is pretty kind, and tries to treat everyone with respect unless they get on her nerves, in which case she can throw some backhanded comments which is also some of her humor, so it's hard to tell which is which. She was raised in a household that taught her to show a lot of respect and have manners. She's polite. She's loyal, yet never depends too much on someone since she tries to be independent and be able to take care of her own issues herself, but she won't hesitate to ask for help if she really needs it all while avoiding talking about her feelings. She usually needs help most when she gets impulsive, which only really happens when she gets panicked or around reckless people. It's not a lot, and otherwise feels she can handle her problems well and thinks things out. She can also be impulsive when she needs to let go a little, doing something without thinking it through but it's not always bad, sometimes it can be fun. Ry has always been pretty loud, whether she's yelling because she tends to be strict, and likes everything to be exactly how she likes them (especially regarding her living space) or if she's just laughing or talking loudly. When she walks in a room, no one forgets she's there. She also finds herself flirting a lot, but she's usually just joking around. Speaking of jokes...her sense of humor can be bad, she doesn't always have good timing and has a hard time knowing when to keep to herself. She is also a mom/older sister friend, she cares about her friends deeply but will also yell at them if needed and gets easily concerned. Rylee can get afraid easily but she doesn't like to show it. She doesn't want to appear weak, or fearful, so she usually sucks it up and acts fearless for the sake of her own pride. She also doesn't ever cry in front of people, another thing about her not wanting to feel weak.        positive traits: Witty, Polite, Organized, Loyal, Caring        neutral traits: Flirty, Loud, Independent, Impulsive        negative traits: Closed off, Forgetful, Strict, Anxious background: Rylee actually grew up with two dads, and some people thought she didn't have a proper childhood. Three girls raised by two guys sounded a little strange to some people, but their surrogate is a close friend of her parents, and she has always looked at her like a mother (and she kind of is, considering she gave birth to her). She even lived with her for a while when she wanted to feel independent and move out of her parents house but couldn't quite afford rent. She had a fairly okay childhood, but did experience bad mental health when she was in her teenage years. She mostly overcame the depression she had, but her bad anxiety and stress never seemed to leave her. She always felt the need to impress them, pushing herself constantly so they would be proud of her and admire her. Also, growing up while trying to be this perfect person along with being the oldest sibling, she taught herself not to cry in front of anyone. She doesn't completely lock away her emotions, but she does express them more when she's alone. The only person she has really allowed herself to cry in front of is Veronica. status: Alive familiar: She has a grey ferret named Artemis. hobbies: Embroidery, Flower picking and pressing, Dancing, Playing violin, relatives: She's the oldest sibling of three girls, the younger two by three years being identical twins which has often been a nightmare for her, the two using their bond or alike looks to gang up on and trick her. Lydia is her one younger sister, the older twin. She always pretended to be years older than Faye, sometimes even older than Rylee which just annoyed all the sisters, honestly. She has this almost joking sense of maturity to her, when really she panics under pressure. Like Faye, Lydia has a strong bond with Rylee because besides their birth mother, she's the oldest female in her life.   Faye was always the mastermind behind all the dumb pranks her and Lydia pulled on Rylee growing up. Whether it was pretending to be the other just for kicks or acting like they missed the bus and making Rylee drive to school just to find that they were actually home. Dumb things like that. It did cause Rylee to get pissed, but she loves her sisters. Rylee adores seeing the bond her twin sisters have, and adores seeing how much they look up to her. Veronica is the name of their fathers' surrogate, and although she didn't live with them the girls often saw her at least once a week. They all really did look to her like a mother, and Rylee has the closest bond with her since she doesn't have an older sibling to turn to. Their bond is like a mother and child, but also sisters and friends. She's really close with Veronica, and she admires her greatly. Anthony is one of Rylee's dads, and he was always kind of uptight. He was the more strict one while his partner was more laid back. Because of this, Rylee was always slightly more distant from Anthony, but she probably got her bossy attitude from him. Anthony was the one to make dad jokes, and Rylee probably also got her humor from him because her jokes are like dad jokes but so much worse they aren't even funny. Christian is Rylee's other father, and he as mentioned before is fairly laid back. He wants to give his kids a good life and tries to be spontaneous and fun. Besides Veronica, Christian was usually the one Rylee went to when she needed advice and help. Overall, Rylee loves her family with all her heart and would easily die for any of them. extra: She writes almost everything down in notebooks, and has them all labeled.

Ariel let him take his time admiring the painting on her phone. It looked a lot better in person, as most her work did and although when listing her work she used a much nicer camera, this was just taken quickly with her phone.
“I don’t have anything like a business card on me today, but if you’d like when we get back from walking Sunja I can give you my number?” Although she had a business email, it wasn’t uncommon for people to text or call her about her pieces, but since it seemed that her and Saeran had similar interests in might just also be nice to have his number.
She was an extrovert, she liked surrounding herself with as many people and friends as she could and often felt lonely if she doesn’t talk to her friends or leave the house every once in a while.
When Saeran asked her about her becoming a nurse and wondering if it was blood she didn’t like, she just shrugged. “Kind of. I mean, I’m not going to faint if I get a papercut, but I can’t do a lot of blood. Also just seeing injuries, things like broken bones or infections, it makes me uncomfortable. I think I’d feel sad working a job like that, I don’t really like seeing someone in pain.”
Ariel tended to be very empathetic, and sometimes felt tingles of pain if she listens to someone talk about an injury they got, so working in a hospital would not be a good idea. On top of that, she’s very emotionally empathetic and picks up on others vibes, often feeling sad when they are, or happy, or whatever it may be. It’s probably also the reason she tends to try and take on everyone’s problems.
“You said you like coding? Like, on computers?” She didn’t know that was a hobby, more a job. It’s defiantly not something she’d enjoy doing, but it still sounded interesting. Eating ice cream, though, that was something she could enjoy.
The redhead nodded a little when he explained that he grew up sheltered. At times, she felt like she was being sheltered by her parents but defiantly not anything like Saeran was. If anything, her parents were just strict, which she didn’t mind now but back when she was a teenager it bugged her and often caused her to become reckless.
Like, the time she sneaked out of the house and rode around on the back of a guy’s motorcycle. She even had a pregnancy scare in her senior year of highschool. She’s changed since then, and often finds the need to impress her parents since she knows an artist was not their first choice for a career.

Ariel’s face lit up when Saeran expressed his interest in her work. It seemed they had common interests, then. “You would?” She replied out of instinct, since a lot of people would defiantly rather a painting of something else. That’s why she threw abstract things in there, things you wouldn’t actually find in a real nature scene. It’s probably the main reason her stuff even sold.
“I think I have pictures on my phone, if you want to see my work.” It didn’t seem Saeran had much of an option, because Ari was already fishing her phone from her pocket with her free hand. They were walking slow anyways since Sunja wanted to smell everything around them.
“If you like my stuff, you could always buy something. Or even commission whatever you want.” She did have a hard time with money and she wasn’t talk him into buying her stuff, but it couldn’t hurt to have another customer. He did say he would buy it, so, it would be dumb not to mention she had stuff he could buy.
“Here, this is the most recent thing I painted. It kinda shows my style, but my work is all pretty different.”
She handed Saeran her phone so she could look, not wanting to take her eyes off the animal she was walking for too long. She was still freaked out by it. The painting on her phone was of a city, grey buildings taking up most of the canvas. The sky had the colors of a sunset and the clouds were in the shape of a rose with some of it’s petals flying away. Although the clouds itself were white and fluffy, the tops of the buildings were littered with red rose petals. It gave it a fantasy vibe, she didn’t like being too realistic with everything, but she would if that’s what people wanted.
“I’m just lucky anyone buys my work. I’ve been painting since a very young age but I really didn’t expect it to go anywhere. My parents thought it would be nice if I went to college, to a medical school to be a nurse.” Ariel paused, laughing softly at the memory. “Yeah, dropped out after my first year. Turns out I have a sensitive stomach that could not handle the things I’d see in an average work day.”
“Besides helping out at the shelter, what do you usually do? Like, do you have any hobbies or work a job?” She felt bad for talking about herself and her art so much, when she really didn’t know much about the other.

Ariel laughed softly when he referred to his brother as a pet. She had always wanted a sibling, but had grown up an only child for many reasons. One of them being her parents just couldn’t really afford two kids, so the closest thing she ever had to a sibling was her cousins, although they were in America now.
“I hope to get another cat soon, but like what you were saying, I’ll have to wait until I get another place. My landlord doesn’t allow any sort of animals except maybe a fish, which isn’t exactly what I’m looking for. Maybe one day when I have a little more money I’ll be able to move.”
When Saeran started to talk about how she could do some art for the shelter she looked at him with a smile, although she was kind of shocked. He hadn’t even seen her art yet and he already thought it could auction off? She was good, but she wasn’t that good. Well, maybe not in her eyes anyway.
“You think so? I’d be happy to but my best work isn’t in animals. I’d have to practice. I usually do watercolor skies. . .that sounds pretty lame but they can be cool. I just like the sky, I guess, I paint it at any point in the day. They all kind of have fantasy elements to them, it’s hard to explain without you seeing them.”
“I also used to study botanical illustration which was really interesting since you really look at plants and flowers and draw them as accurately as possible. I was good at identifying plants a while ago but I’ve forgot most of it.”
Yeah, as mentioned before, when she started talking about her art it was hard to stop. Ariel loved everything about it, and she wanted people to feel the same passion and excitement over it that she did.
“Do you? I feel like she can smell my fear.” She joked, not sure who she was trying to lighten the mood for. Probably herself. “I guess I’m feeling a little better around her, but I can’t imagine going near a dog even slightly more aggressive. Not yet, but I’ll get there.”

Ariel was shifting her attention between Sunja and Saeran, trying to make sure the dog didn’t suddenly turn against her or anything while she walked her, but having something else to put her focus on made it a little easier to stay calm rather than panicked. It made sense that people were more likely to adopt a younger animal, since they were likely be around longer, but he was right, it is unfortunate.
“Oh, do you have a cat?” She asked, thinking that was what he was implying. “If I was to get a pet, it would defiantly be a cat. I used to have one when I was younger, but she had some health issues and we had to put her down when I was a teenager. I wanted to get another, but I haven’t been in a home that allows one since my parents’ house. I moved out as soon as I was done highschool because they wanted me to go to college, and I’ve been in strict apartments since then.”
Ariel had dropped out of college after her first year. She was in medical school and quickly knew it was not for her. She couldn’t handle all the disgusting images and things they talked about, her parents only wanted her to give it a shot because it was such a well-paying job.
“I’m lucky enough to be able to live alone in a small apartment, but since I’m an artist and income can be slow sometimes, I have a diner I’ll work part time at when I need to. Time wise, volunteering wasn’t the best choice, but I seem to have an artist block right now and little to no inspiration. I thought doing something could help get that back. I usually paint skies and flowers, nature scenes, but I’d like to get better at animals and people as well.”
Ariel hoped she wasn’t boring him, she tended to ramble when she was nervous to get her mind off whatever was stressing her out - a bad habit. And, when she started talking about her art sometimes it was hard to stop. She was just so passionate about it, she had been drawing since she was a little kid and knew that, that was what she wanted to do in life. She was lucky that she actually got to. Her painting style was usually a nature scene, with an abstract twist.
“I’m talking a lot, I’m sorry. Nervous habit.”

Ariel wasn’t exactly prepared for just how loud it was. It was almost scary hearing all the barking, it completely freaked her out and she tried to focus on where Saeran was leading her rather than the dogs surrounding her. Loud rooms where just overwhelming for her at times, she didn’t like so many sounds coming at her at once and all of the dogs barking was even worse.
When Saeran opened the kennel to let Sunja loose, the redhead took a few steps back just to create a little more distance while she made sure this dog wasn’t going to try and jump on her despite being promised she wouldn’t.
Very hesitantly, Ariel leaned down to let the animal sniff her hand, assuming the dog would act better once she was more familiar with her scent. There didn’t seem to be many problems, and although she was still pretty freaked out she felt like she could handle it.
“No, I can try.” She spoke up, trying the leash and hooking it onto the clasp, her hands just a little shaky. The more she did, the more she could see that Sunja was a fairly tame dog.
“What’s her story? If she’s such a nice dog, why doesn’t she have a home?” Ariel was curious as to why a family would give up a well behaved animal, although maybe it was just born a stray.

He wanted her to what? This was one of the things she was afraid would happen, this was her first day and she was already interacting with her fear. She’d have to try, although hopefully it wouldn’t be too stressful on her. It probably wouldn’t be, but if the dog showed one sign on hostility she’d freak out, and that wasn’t something anyone wanted to see.
Ariel could also hope the dog wouldn’t bark at her that much, she found the noise loud and startling even if it wasn’t meant to be aggressive. She just didn’t want to say no so fast, she was trying to leave a good impression and she did have to warm up to dogs if she was going to spend a lot of time here.
“Yeah, no problem.” There was a problem, “I can do that.” Could she do that? “If she’s friendly it should be fine.” She paused for a moment, running things through in her head, “She doesn’t jump, does she?” She knew it was a form of excitement but God, it terrified her.
Ariel felt weird that, on her first day, this was the impression people were getting of her. The girl with the fear of dogs wants to help out the animal shelter, but she felt like she could get past that fear the more she was around them. Any friends of hers that had dogs usually had them outside when she came over.
“Okay, I guess let’s go meet her.” She was trying to act as if she wasn’t afraid, but it was kind of obvious she was. She couldn’t get over a fear without even meeting a dog. Well, it’s the thought that counts, right?

“Oh, no of course. I didn’t mean to imply I thought otherwise, I don’t. That’s all anything wants, right? To be loved?” Ariel bit her lip and exhaled through her nose softly, pausing for a moment before she responded to his statement about her fear. “I think so too. I just tend to get freaked out by them, I guess. My neighbor’s dog attacked me once when I was like eight years old and I had to go to the ER and get stitches. I guess it’s a dumb thing to still be afraid of 15 years later- but I can’t help it.”
Ariel listened to Saeran as he expressed his interest in the the shelter and how he felt about everything, genuinely interested in his answer. It was clear she didn’t just ask to be polite, although it didn’t seem he thought that. She agreed with some of the things he said, such as needing someone who would love them and wouldn’t abandon them. She could relate to it, in a way, but only with past relationships, not nearly in the way Saeran could but she didn’t know that, obviously.
“I think that’s really beautiful, honestly, I’m glad you found something you’re happy doing.” She gave him another smile, but this one was gentle. Again, it was interesting hearing about everything.
“Oh, my reason isn’t quite as meaningful. I just really like animals, although due to my current living conditions I’m not allowed to have any pets, my landlord doesn’t allow it. But, my apartment is small anyway so I don’t think it would be a good space for a pet.” She explained, thinking about how her current income didn’t allow her to get a very big place.
“But, aside from that, I just have a lot of stress and I get anxious kind of easily or I just wake up feeling down. Being around animals cheer me up a little bit, plus I don’t have to worry about how they think of me like I do with people– that sounds so stupid, I’m sure, but I guess those are the main things that appealed to me when I found out about volunteering.”

Ariel was a little surprised to hear how little he seemed to care about his well-being, that or he had a very high pain tolerance. That could make sense, hers was very low, but she imagined dog bites were still painful. She almost gasped when she saw all the scars on his hand but she kept herself from doing so.
Very gently, the girl reached out to take his hand in hers to get a closer look at the scars. “I don’t feel better knowing that happened since it must have been painful for you, I’m sorry, but I guess I do feel more comfortable knowing that you’ll take care of the aggressive dogs.” She confirmed as she let his hand go, I’m kind of freaked out by a lot of dogs so I was hoping through working here I could also get over my fear.”
Ariel had always been extremely empathetic, she never could hear about sometimes pains without feeling bad for them and if it was an emotional burden she had a bad habit of trying to take it on herself. She just felt it was worth it to see other people happy, although she did it enough that it was a problem for herself.
“What made you decide to volunteer here?” Ariel asked out of sheer curiosity, her eyes scanning the room they were in. She had already expressed her love for animals and want to get over her simple fear for dogs, she could assume Saeran’s reason was like hers; that he liked animals a lot. But he sounded like he’s been here for a long time, and all the time spent here was unpaid so something must make him want to stick around, right?

Ariel smiled warmly when she saw the taller male she would be working with. He looked young, probably around her age, early 20s. He, Saeran, seemed pretty nice, as far as she could tell. But it was hard to know what one was like so early on. “Nice to meet you!” She happily chimed.
She walked with him, taking note of the area around her so she didn’t get lost when she was left to walk around alone. The building wasn’t too big, so she didn’t think it would be too much of a problem. Listening to the other describe all the nice tasks, she felt excited to start volunteering. But, she was fully aware of the bad things too. She knew that animals had other needs than just to be played with and fed.
“I can handle the boring tasks,” Ariel told him confidently, not too worried about having to take them on. She had to do boring things quite a lot herself so it wouldn’t be much different. She did highly dislike talking on the phone with strangers, but she felt there were other things she could do to make up for it.
“Bit or attacked?” She repeated, seeming a little put off by that part. “That doesn’t happen often, right?” Hopefully, he was just mentioning it for the reason of safety, not because it was a common thing that she had to be wary of.
Pausing her steps when Saeran turned to face her, she shook his hand. Looking at her, she was clearly not Korean, but she had lived in Korea for a long time. “Thank you, I think I will, as long as all my fingers stay intact.” She joked playfully, referring to his previous statement about being attacked by some animals here. Definitely not helpful to her fear of dogs in any way. Should she mention that?

Ariel was extremely excited yet, strangely nervous to start volunteering at an animal shelter local to her apartment. She knew it could be stressful as it was taking up a lot of her free time, but she felt that it would be worth it in the end once she got the hang of everything and was easily helping out tons of animals every day.
She was concerned about the dogs there since if they had bad backgrounds they could be aggressive, and she was already freaked out by them as it was. Hopefully, she’d be working with some other types of animals, but she also hoped this would let her get over her fear.
As she walked into the small, but neat building she looked around, trying to decide where to go and how to start things. She had gotten a tour last week, but she didn’t feel comfortable going straight to the back and jumping in when she didn’t know what she was supposed to do. Deciding to ask someone, she walked to the front desk, tucking some of her hair behind her ear and out of her face for easier eye contact.
“Hey, I’m Ariel, uh, Archer. I’m here to start volunteering but it’s my first time so it’s all a little confusing.”
She explained, laughing softly in hopes to excuse the fact that she probably looked like a lost puppy. Ironic. She watched as the women behind the counter flipped through some notes before smiling and looking back up at her.
“I have you down here. We put someone down to show you the ropes, is that alright?”
She was thrilled to hear that someone would be helping her, it would make things much easier for her. She prayed they would get along well, hopefully, they wouldn’t be too bossy or rude. “Yes, that’s great, actually!”
“Perfect. Follow me back here, Ariel, I’ll take you to meet him.” The redhead nodded and followed the women, excited to see the man she’d be working with.
