When I was finishing drawing the solavellan, the news came out that there would be an inquisitor in DA4. And then I came across the song by SeiðrSkald "Ar Lath Ma Vhenan". And I could barely finish drawing it, trying not to cry.

I love them too much.

So THATS why he was so vicious to Rook. They were the physical embodiment of all the pain, greif, sacrifices WASTED. He sacrificed his life and friends with the inq, his true love who let him act a as spirit of WISDOM again (why his approval is tied into questions and learning) and not a tool for war. He sacrificed a friends life, ten YEARS and here comes rook rendering the entire thing USELESS once more. Another mistake, another regret, another thing he cannot take back and its all directed and connected to rook.

Solas is crying in the DAV prologue

I've stumbled across gameplay breakdown, where authout (Lady Sulevin) states that Solas is crying as he faces the freed gods.

At first I was hesitant, as this just as much could have been rain droplet (he is covered in them), but after closer inspection it does seem to be the case!

His face as he looks at Rook, after the ritual was interrupted by them.

While wet from the rain, the left side of his face doesn't show any tears. His expression is tired and sad. (He screamed "NO!" twice, as we watched statues fall)

Then, as he turns, his face becomes angrier and a bit annoyed?

He is fully turned towards the rift, but before he catches two figures -> now it's a bit desperate on top?

The moment he noticed evanuris (shocked)

And here it is. The tear texture appears at this moment. Fuck me.

My poor baby. I want to comfort him so much. He is devastated: his plan is in ruins once again, all he sacrificed for the last decade, the person he became - all for nothing.

Please, please let my Lavellan hug Solas. Both of them need it.

I'm reminded of Cole's comment about how it's harder to read inky because of the mark, that it's like "counting birds against the sun", and that he can only read people when they need him (compassion).

Cole is sensing Solas's pain first and foremost, which allows him to connect to Lavellan's.

So whenever I get this banter all I can think about is how not only Lavellan is hurting so bad that Cole is able to pick up on it, but that Solas is also still so distraught that his mental barriers are down until he manages to shut Cole out.

It's also worth noting the amount of time it required him to do so, Cole just about ruined this man's whole career by starting to blurt out Solas's biggest secret.

I’m not done. I’ve had a bad day and crying things really feel cathartic right now, so this is going to be a FUCKING SAD SOLAS COMIC. ENJOY MOTHAFUCKAS.

I am bawling, I just had to film this… Solas gently holding Lavellans hand before he takes the anchor. This is invisible without using flycam, WHY?

I don’t really know why but this just fucking gets me right in the Solavellan feels, I understand this happens regardless of your relationship status but it feels extra special when you romance him. He fucking gives you his old hangout and then fucking paints all of your accomplishments beautifully in a space he spends countless hours in. You kiss him in the fade and then when you wake up and go see him, boom there’s three beautiful artworks in the rotunda, about you. OW my heart.

First: sorry for being so inactive lately. I didn’t forget Dragon Age’s beautiful fandom and all the friends I made here, and of course I did not forget Solas. Simply, I left my harddrive with all the Dragon Age stuff at home so I had nothing to share. When I will be back to my parents’ home I hope I can start to share a lot of stuff again. Second: I’ve thought it would have been interesting to share this extract from Tevinter Nights: Solas’ demon of Regret.  Third: Hope everyone is safe during these hard times.
