transness exists in such a frustrating space right now where psychiatry as an apparatus & industry will swear up and down that while they used to classify transness itself as a mental disorder, now they just have the authority to diagnose Gender Dysphoria(TM) which is supposedly "non-stigmatizing" and just to facilitate trans people getting insurance to cover care.

(not acknowledging that getting this diagnosis from a psychiatric authority of some sort is pretty much the only way to legally access gender affirming healthcare that is outside of what's permitted for your birth assignment, and the only way to get insurance to cover any of it).

so they're constantly trying to pitch the line: "sure psychiatry used to be transphobic but now we just have near exclusive power over trans bodies--but that's totally different and not structurally transphobic at all <3"

psychiatry is like "we provide access to trans health care" & it's like, oh for sure, just like how landlords "provide housing."

recently i talked with a (tme) friend about I am a trans woman. I am in the closet. I am not coming out and i think its just worth it to reiterate that a trans woman who will regurgitate internalize transmisogyny and the authority imposed by the ability to make Decent Art is something that tme people looooooooove. they love her! they love feeling like they agree with and are defending trannies while not once questioning the actual biases and ideology they've internalized.

As many posts you see talking about the problems trans women face, never forget that it has been worth it. Every trans women i’ve talked to has said they wouldnt reverse their decision to start hormones or get surgery or whatever. Its worth it. I feel so much better about myself generally. I didnt think tjat would happen. You expect nothing to change. You expect to keep being the same depressed boy with no light. But genuinely hrt has added a brilliance to my life i never thought possible. I used to think it would be the same bleak shit. But it isnt. Everything is in color now. Just dont die wondering, ok?
