Now that I’m going to be home a lot more often, I was thinking about opening up a few slots for lessons. This will be a limited basis, but if your child is interested in pursuing a career in music or if you just want them to learn an instrument, let me know.

Do they need to be a certain age?  Rhys is only 4 but it might not be a bad idea.  I know giving children as many creative outlets as possible isn’t a bad thing.

Maybe go out for pampering this weekend, stay in next? The crowds for the holiday weekend are bound to be crazy.

Smaller balloons are often harder to make pop too.  Let’s put it in our long range plans for next year.  

That sounds great!  You’re probably not wrong about the crowds and the holiday weekend. I’ll book the spa.  What would you like?  Facials?  Manis?  Pedis?  The works?

That’s awesome. Though to create it individually, I wonder if you could just cut the canvas into smaller pieces after the work is done? Unless you were wanting them to each have a piece that they did on their own. My kids can definitely get a few extra inches, and maybe a bit more power in the throws. 

It ended up worth it, so I’m pretty excited. Yes, please. I feel like I’ve been running non stop for the past couple of weeks trying to get the school year over. What do you think we should do? Movie marathons with pizza? Spa day? Both? Or whatever you have in mind?

Well, I’d like them to have for sure done a part of it.  But I did think about that.  It would be good to collaborate and foster learning communities.

Good.  I really don’t care, as long as I don’t set foot in the school.  How about all of the above?

Is it paint balloons like water balloons? Just thrown and splat? If so, can I come when you do it again?

My class did a tile mosaic where all of the little pictures made a big picture? That was an undertaking. Probably think up something simpler for next year.

Yes!  Exactly.  I stretched a canvas over one of the gym walls and we just had fun.  For sure. Maybe we should collaborate on it next time, because it was hard to get some colors up high.  

Oh wow. I can’t wait to check that out.  Really cool.  But definitely seems like quite a large project.  We should plan something for next weekend and the long weekend.  Kick back and NOT actually go into the school.

Oh god, speaking of dreaded reunions - I just got an invite to my 10-year high school reunion and I’m just like ‘Why?’ Most of the people I went to HS with, I have on some kind of social media, so I’m good. 

I lost contact with a few people that I wish I wouldn’t have, and it would be nice to see them, but I’m not a fan of putting us all back together again.

I would hope not. Still…crazy that she’s even liking boys or girls already. I don’t think I looked twice at a girl until I was at least 13.

I feel like in some cases, it is the way we’re expecting and exposing our kids to more maturity at an earlier age.  I definitely don’t remember thinking about anything other than friends at that age either.

Picked up Lia after school today, and on the way home I found out she has a boyfriend. I don’t know his name yet, but I suddenly get the whole over-protective dad thing. I know she’s only ten and it’s nothing serious, but the fact that she has a date to her spring dance has me in my feels. Please it makes me feel old - any advice for how to combat that?

They honestly grow up so fast.  I think the best thing is to remember while we’re talking about things like a date to the dance, and a boyfriend,  it doesn’t necessarily mean the same thing to a ten year old as it does to us. Chances are she still needs you more than anything.

I’m sorry to hear about your marriage.  I applaud your ability to look on the bright side though I guess.

So I was listening to this radio station yesterday, and they were basically a “throwback” station. They were playing ‘90s pop-punk, and hip hop. I was jamming out to it, but then I realized that “throwback” is basically the same thing as “oldies” now, and I suddenly felt extremely old. ‘90s kids have an oldies station? How the hell is this okay? I’m too young to be old. Help.

I feel like while this holds some truth in theory that it’s actually very subjective.  I still consider 60′s and 70s oldies.  My parents consider 50s and 60s oldies, etc.  It’s a sign though that you’re moving into that next stage of life when the music you grew up with is now throw back or retro.  Another sign is the sometimes dreaded reunion.

Our school is having an Art Fundraiser the last day of school to raise money for some things we’d like to purchase, put in place over the summer.  As a class we’ve done a couple of things but the one that I am so excited about that I’m now wracking my brain to come up with a way to do a smaller version of it for each child to put in the year long art portfolio.  But for all of you with a child in my class you are not going to want to miss our paint balloon canvas.  It was so much fun to create and looks better than I could have hoped for.
