Oh definitely. One great parent is still really awesome to have. I don’t think I’d change anything if I had the opportunity, the grass is always greener when you’re a kid tho I guess. I dunno.

If only I could be that lucky. Nah, I’m saying that a review of Revenge of the Sith was the first review I put up on my channel, or at least as much of a review as a twelve-year-old can do, and now movie reviews are my full-time gig and I got to attend The Force Awakens premiere a couple years back.

Yeah, he is. I get what you mean about being lucky on the parent front, my mom is like the best mom on the planet. But I can’t imagine not being in his life. I know what it’s like to have a dad that’s absent and it’s shit.

It’s not exactly the same thing though.... is it? I feel like they’re still totally different things. Similar maybe, but not the same. That could be the denial thing though.

So I was listening to this radio station yesterday, and they were basically a “throwback” station. They were playing ‘90s pop-punk, and hip hop. I was jamming out to it, but then I realized that “throwback” is basically the same thing as “oldies” now, and I suddenly felt extremely old. ‘90s kids have an oldies station? How the hell is this okay? I’m too young to be old. Help.

From what I’m hearing there is no real cure.  Sounds like I better scotch guard my uniforms and get the Colonel to do the same before the next time he’s home on leave, keep stashing the wet wipes everywhere, and hope for the best.  And in piece of blinding wisdom, to remember this is just a little phase and they are only like this for a small amount of time.  Good luck if your son ever hits this part!

Damn, well I’ll just spend the meantime praying that David just stays on the normal level of messy path. I don’t know if I can handle anything past that.

I don’t want to think about him being Sunny 2.0 until I’m much older. But he’s also his own person, and maybe he’ll take after my nerdier side. You know, can’t pressure him to live up to an icon. Does that make me selfish?

Maybe they are, but I think you have to be at least thirty before you can really rock it. Otherwise, people don’t really see you as a dad.

I don’t know I think sometimes as parents we are harder on ourselves, and each other, than our kids are?  At the end of the day they want to be loved, feel secure, and have fun. That seems pretty doable. 

That’s probably true. I don’t think that my kid is old enough to see me as anything other than cool, but I still definitely feel the pressure to stay ahead of the curve. I think it’s more the fact that I didn’t have a dad so I’m still trying to figure out what that’s supposed to be like.

I don’t think that my mom ever tried to hide a dvd from me, but I watched Phantom Menace all the time as a kid, and seeing Revenge of the Sith in theaters is what really jumpstarted what would become my careers, so I guess that’s sorta the same thing?

Most people I know had that one movie as a kid; that one movie that they would watch over and over and over to the resigned acceptance of their parents. I’ve always thought that movie says something about a person.  Mine was The Mummy. I watched it so many times I was able to preform a one woman re-enactment at 8 years old. It got to the point where my parents had to hide the DVD from me. That being said, what was your movie?

The nanny thing is still a thing? Definitely, don’t have any recs for you, but I’m hoping that the nanny you find doesn’t wind up like one from those straight to dvd thrillers.

You know when people encourage you to move to my new house with toddlers, they don’t tell you how utterly stressful it all is. Today alone, was spent unpacking my house, faster than I would have liked because I couldn’t find Mile’s Hulk Blanket. Turns out, it was in the car. Then I had to stop by the hospital with the twins so I could check out my office and the Residents and Interns, because I am new so I have yet to find a Nanny to help me while I am on call… I don’t drink and yet pretty sure I could use a drink right about now. Also if anyone knows a nanny looking for a job, I am interviewing asap.
