late introduction

I made a few posts, but I didn’t introduce myself.

I’m Lynn, I’m a self-taught oil painter, living in the Netherlands, aspiring to be a professional painter one day. I have several chronic illnesses and I’m recently diagnosed as neurodivergent and I face quite a few challenges, but I feel like I’m finally mentally at a place where I can feel comfortable making art and enjoy myself.

I’m still learning but I’m having fun. Art is something I love doing but because I had no formal education of art and the world pressuring me to put me into a mold of their perspective of ‘success’, I used art as a form of therapy to make me relaxed and as an hobby.

Then my body crashed, and every goal and my job crashed with it. I got several diagnoses that helped me realise that the mold that the world created wasn’t made for me.  I’m glad to have a decent support system to help me out, but I always like to be more independent. Although my energy, hands and how long I can sit has its limitations, I’m more focused on my wellbeing and learning because I feel like there is so much to explore.

That’s it, I don’t know what I’ll blog about next, but time will tell.

This week I made a painting that I didn't enjoy, so I'm waiting for it to dry to work on it. In the meantime I made this and it made me smile. I'm into pastel colours lately so i added it here as well.

After my cat passed away unexpectedly, I used painting to cope with it. Now I can see him when I miss him.
