Quality - 9.5/10 First Impressions: Smells like real leather, none of that factory hydroxyfufu smell I have heard so much about on this subreddit Looks and feels like LUXURY Leather, hardware and strap all in perfect condition Materials: Leather: really beautiful leather, lovely grain, nice sheen, a little stiff but I expect it will soften with use and some conditioning. Lining: inner lining feels like genuine suede, nicely stitched in and flush to the leather. Hardware: hardware is nice and heavy as well as well secured. Engraving is crisp. Button closure is slightly stiff to push the button in but I expect it will be more smooth to close and release with use. Not sure whether the auth is like this as I've never held a real one in my hands. Crystals: crystals are uniform in colour and size, however, one of the crystals(-0.5). I only realised once the bag was in my hands, I didn't spot it in the PSPs (you can kind of see it in this PSP but I was more concerned with assessing their shape and the number of them so I missed it). So really, I can't be docking too many points off as I didn't see it myself on the PSPs. If I was being super nit-picky I would say that crystals and stone settings don't fit together perfectly but I really don't think anyone is looking that closely. Also, something I need to remind myself of, I am paying 1/8 of the price of the actual bag, I cannot expect things like the metalwork to be perfect. Chain: chain feels nice and heavy (138g), not sure how heavy the auth is but if it was any heavier, it would seem ill-matched to the size of the bag. Craftsmanship: This feels like well constructed bag, sturdy but not too stiff. The stitching is neat, even and well done throughout the bag. Honestly, it's black stitching on black leather so even if it wasn't as neat, it wouldn't be noticeable. The glazing is even and smooth all around the bag and the stamping is neat and clean. Accuracy - 10/10 Shape & Dimensions: Overall shape: correct slight trapezoid shape that is more obvious in person than in photos for some reason. Shape of key elements: double flap looks correctly proportioned, the 'triangles' created by the two layers look good, closure tab is the perfect balance of round vs pointy like the auth. The leather on the tab has the slight bump in between the middle of the horseshoe where it's attached between the two pieces of leather. The flaps' corners might be a liiiittle too sharp/angled at the corners? Some auths look like they might have slightly more rounded corners but some are more angled like this rep. Proportions: proportions are like the auth. Measurements of bag: width 16.5cm x length 10cm x depth 4/4.5cm (depending on how full you stuff it). Handle/strap drop: 61cm at full length but can be adjusted to different lengths depending on how you double it up. Exterior: Color(s): black is black is black innit. Leather: the grain looks good, it feels smooth to touch and has a slight sheen like the auth. Glazing color: again, black is black is black. It matches the leather perfectly in shade. Hardware: Color/tone: aged silver colour is impressively correct on the horseshoe, chain and keychain. Horseshoe spur: the jewelled horseshoe tiger spur has the correct number of jewels, the two at the base near the head are correctly pointed/teardrop shaped, gem colour is correct. Width between the tiger heads looks right and positioned correctly. Crystals: correct number (11 on the front, 12 on top, 12 on bottom), colour and shape, the two positioned above the head are teardrop shaped like the auth. The ones on the top and bottom are marquise shaped like the auth, with upside down tear drop shapes that flank the tear drop shapes above the tiger head. Shape and size of the keyring are correct, and works correctly. The D-rings are the correct shape and colour and hold the chain well. Chain links are all even and interlock perfectly. Engravings: the engravings on the keyring are correct (the i in Italy is lowercase, like the auth). However, the two GUCCI engravings on the button looks slightly shallower than the auth (as seen in Auth 1 link in pink). Either way, it would only be seen when you open and close the bag and if someone is looking that closely, they would be very close to you/your crotch and definitely violating your personal space. So I won't be docking any points but please keep this in mind if this is something that matters to you. Interior: Lining material: the suede lining is the correct sandy beige colour, feels smooth and soft. Stamps: Inner stamping of logo and serial number looks to be the correct placement, size, spacing, depth and font . The 'Italy' in 'made in italy' is capitalised like the black auth on Fashionphile (not sure if it's just because it's black so unclear but my eyes can't take anymore squinting at it) but unlike the pink auth on Fashionphile so not going to dock points. Either way, you would have to be like an inch from the stamping to see whether it's capitalised or not. Hardware: the width of the chain D-rings and keyring D-ring are all correct. Satisfaction - 10/10 When I had carefully unboxed and unpeeled all the packaging, I was SHOOK by how accurate this rep was. I have to regularly remind myself this is not made by Gucci but by a replica factory in the middle of nowhere in China. This super mini bag was perfect for the wedding I went to, I was able to fit an iPhone XS, money and cards, a lip stain/gloss and a small set of keys. The horseshoe spur is much more shiny/sparkly irl than in photos but not blindingly so. I was a bit disappointed about the missing teardrop stone but it's so small and the metal setting is kinda shiny, it would've gone unnoticed so won't be docking points. Overall, I love this tiny bag. I love that I can change the length of the bag for different ~lewks~ so it can be a bit more versatile than my previous wedding clutch. Seller Communication and Service - 9.75/10 Dodoluxury is very fast to respond on Whatsapp and gets straight to business. He was quick to let me know the bag was in stock, its price and assured me it was top quality when I asked if it was. I can speak/write Mandarin to a basic-personal fluency level but his english is great so I could just send messages in English. Pink sent great (and numerous!) PSPs that showed off the leather, hardware and stamping. I'm in two minds about the missing crystal on the horseshoe spur. If I had looked more closely to the crystals in the PSPs, I might would have been able to see the missing stone so it can be said that it was my fault for GLing it. However, I would have preferred that Pink let me know right off the bat that there was a stone missing from the horseshoe spur. I realise he has to go through many items and take all those PSPs but the missing stone could probably have been spotted by a bag expert, which I think he is. So I feel I need to dock some points for it (-0.25). The bag and chain were packaged nicely so it arrived safely and damage free by the time got to me in the UK.

Is an Omega watch as prestigious as a Rolex?
Without any doubt : NO! Omega and Rolex are often compared and that’s ok. Both brands operate in the same category of sports watches between $5,000 and $15,000 in steel. Both have an iconic model, the Speedmaster for Omega and the Submariner for Rolex. Both have massive annual production of 800,000/900,000 watches produced, each year. And above all, both are really great brands that are loved by watch aficionados.
But we are talking prestige here. Not intrinsic quality, which both brands have at a great extent, no debate on that. And if we’re going with prestige, the winner is Rolex. Hands down.
Just look at auctions, has there ever been any world record that was set by Omega? Of course not! Are people going crazy whenever a new auction is announced? Yes, but only when Patek or Rolex is involved.
A few months ago, this watch, belonging to the last emperor of Vietnam, sold for more than $5 million at auction, setting a new world record.
You’re just never gonna see that happen with Omega.
That doesn’t mean that there aren’t prestigious or highly collectible pieces from Omega. Some vintage Speedmasters are performing quite well on the collector’s market, but nothing that can be compared to Rolex.
If you are interested in comparing those two legendary brands, I suggest reading this article : Rolex versus Omega - History and quest for precision
To conclude, I would say that buying a watch for its supposed prestige is a bad idea as you won’t enjoy it as much as a watch you truly desired for whatever reason it is :)

There are two reasons why Rolex, Omega, and IWC are expensive. One is the cost of advertising and marketing for these watches, especially for Rolex. Rolex has brand ambassadors and some of these ambassadors are celebrities and well-known athletes such as Tiger Woods. The cost of these programs is factored into the prices of Rolex watches.
Many of these watches have high-grade mechanical movements that are assembled and decorated by hand. These watches evoke an emotional response in those who own them. The design and construction of these movements, especially the micromechanics of complex movements, are noted for how their complications allow them to do what they do. Swiss watches with such complications as a perpetual calendar or world timer watches that show the time in various time zones are among the more expensive watches.
Some of the cases of these watches are made of precious metal (gold, platinum, or high-grade stainless steel or titanium. Many Swiss watches have artificial sapphire crystals that provide a high degree of scratch resistance. And bracelets made of precious metals or exotic leather can be expensive.

Is it worth it to buy a Rolex watch? It can be very worthwhile to buy a rolex compared to many other material purchases. If you were to have bought a car for $9k three years ago and used it fairly frequently you would probably find it to be worth around $5k today through depreciation. However, if you had spent the same money on a Rolex blnr or Submariner you would probably find it had held its value a whole lot better and the Blnr, if in good condition, might actually be worth more than you had paid as some people are paying a premium in the used watch market to avoid some lengthy waiting times on the new model. So in short, yes, a rolex can be worth it. Remember its not an investment. If you want your $9000 to grow steadily in value then you are far better off finding some good long term growth shares with healthy dividend returns etc. Rolex is not an appreciating asset unless you are buying a rare antique. However if you want to buy something luxurious and recognizable but that wont depreciate by 30% the moment you walk out the door then a Rolex is a very good buy and your kids or grandkids will surely be happy to have it passed onto them in the future if you choose to hold onto it. Edit: The Submariner, Gmt (Blnr) and Daytona tend to hold their value the best. Not so sure about all of the others. Time will tell but these ones are the safest and tend to do very well at auctions and within the used watch market. This comment applies to stainless steel watches. Rolex watches with gold and diamonds etc. dont tend to do so well with Rolex’s key audience of business people and manager’s etc. Think something a law firm partner would wear and not something an athlete or hip hop entertainer would wear. Their watch would probably be Hublot.

As you can see in the pyramid below, Rolex falls in the middle upper tier of it. However, it is perceived by many as a high end luxury brand, whereas in reality it is an “affordable luxury brand”, off course in the relative pricing world of watches. Really, any dude in his 30s or younger with an extra bit of cash can pick up a new date-just or a second-hand Submariner for around 5000$. Again, in the world of luxury watches, this is considered mid-range. Although, I don’t totally agree with the placement of some brands in the below pyramid, brands like JLC, IWC, and more importantly Patek, Lange, AP, and Vacheron develop mind blowing in-house watches with high end complications such as moon-phases, perpetual calendars, tourbillons, minute repeaters and other fascinating complications where as Rolex don’t (they develop mostly tools and sports watches). Any of the brands I mentioned develops higher end watches than Rolex. EDIT: I just fixed some typos EDIT: 9/04/2017 I am really tired of replying to all the people who are telling me that this chart misplaced many brands. I think so as well; I already said this in my answer! I used this chart to demonstrate my point. I think that it got the top tier and ultra luxury almost 100% correct. This is what matters for this answer. However, yes I strongly disagree with the placement of many brands especially JLC and IWC.

Is a Rolex still a Rolex if it is pieced together from authentic parts?
Yes. But—there is always a but—the answer is more subtle than binary.
What is an original watch? Every component in there the same as the day you bought it from the dealer?
No. If you send a watch for servicing spa, they’ll dismantle the entire watch, down to the bracelet links, and replace, refurbish, clean or lubricate any and all parts, returning a like-new watch to the owner. Sometimes, they can change the entire case if there is severe-enough damage and there are spares lying around.
Is that a franken watch? After all, it’s “pieced together from authentic parts”.
No.
What about those minty-looking vintages from decades ago? One watchmaker I patronize works on a freelance basis for a second-hand dealer. He regularly scrounges parts from donor watches to build those peachy examples that collectors regularly pay thousands for. It may be a scratched up crystal, a corroded/faded dial, decaying lume, worn caseback, awful bracelet links, or even something as simple as a period-correct watch box and accessories. Generic parts like gaskets and lubricants are plentiful, but many parts are out of production and NOS alternatives are harder to come by every year. The only way to keep these oldies going is to cull and keep the best. The best examples are faithful to the original but many watches end up with some combination of dial/hands mismatch, case/bracelet mismatch or case/caseback mismatch, among a long list of potential problems.
And we have not even touched on the movement, with more than 100 parts. Short of the baseplate and case that are serialized, every other part is generic and shared within a model or movement family sharing close production dates.
A proper rebuild or “franken” by an expert watchmaker is indistinguishable from a serviced original. But it takes deep knowledge to choose the right components, especially if they are missing, damaged or were poor replacements themselves. That is why many vintage watches can be identified as obvious frankens—there is no magic encyclopedia out there showing every dial/hand variation, movement upgrades/changes, case/bracelet/strap variants and so on. Even in the age of information technology, this information is not as comprehensive as we would like today.
Is a “franken” Rolex still a Rolex? Yes, just usually not worth as much as you’d like it to, even if it looks in such good condition for its age.

Patek Philippe is a relatively high-end consumer group, the rich circle, the symbol of the noble clock enthusiasts is to have a Patek Philippe watch, noble artistic realm and expensive production materials shape the enduring brand effect of Patek Philippe. There are no specific groups of people.
Patek Philippe belongs to the top luxury watches, even today it has the title of "King of Watches". As an important representative of Swiss traditional mechanical watch brand, Patek Philippe has maintained a relatively independent position compared with other brands. Whether it is a new watch or an antique watch, Patek Philippe has always had a performance of "the king of the table, who give up me". Patek Philippe's advertising slogan is "no one can have Patek Philippe's watch, just for the next generation of custody." Corresponding to this, many of Patek Philippe's advertising is based on the theme of inheritance. Unlike the accreditation of the Observatory, Patek Philippe has its own independent accreditation standard, that is, Patek Philippe Seal. As far as the accuracy of the machine core is concerned, the standard of Patek Philippe Seal is - 3 + 2 seconds per day, while the standard of Swiss Observatory is - 4 + 6 seconds per day. This is Ref. 1436, a billionaire steel watches, which was born in the 1940s and is said to be one of the only two watches left. At that time, the auction price was about 3.3 million Swiss francs (about 21 million RMB). This is a Budapest Jade pocket watch, Henry Graves pocket watch, which has made a record price of 24.4 million dollars. This is a Grandmaster Chime (Master Chord Tables), which was said to be too rich to buy at that time. Although the price was as high as $2.5 million, the intended buyer had to pass the personal interview of President Patek Philip to qualify for the purchase. That's all right.

Rolex's Submariner is a very iconic man's watch. But Submariner has long been more than just a watch name, and now it has become a real "handlebar" in the wrist surface. Of course, the reason why Submariner has such a difficult position today is related to the brand's omni-directional marketing strategy. Submariner, who bombarded audiences from the perspectives of technology, advertisement and film performance, has long been familiar with it. With the support of Rolex, the top watch brand, and its profound brand culture and quality assurance, Submariner has no difficulty in keeping up with it. Submariner is worth purchasing both in appearance and value-preserving attributes. After all, wearing a submariner, which has a high status in the world of clocks and watches and is well-known by all, is also a great sense of achievement.
In fact, Submariner's appearance has always been the representative design of "simplicity is beauty". Simple dials and diving watch rings based on style are more atmospheric, which is also in line with the aesthetic of most people. Styles without date display seem to have become more popular in recent years, but no matter how Submariner changes, its most basic core design concept has been retained, and classical heritage is also one of the important reasons for Submariner's popularity.
Rolex's Submariner is undoubtedly one of the most successful and popular watches. Although the original intention of the design is to specialize in the diving watch market, it was unexpected that Submariner broke through the restrictions of the field and became the choice of land sports users, including football, bicycle, baseball, basketball, etc. Even Hollywood celebrity movie stars, hip-hop singers can not resist the invincible charm of Submariner.
Submariner can be said to be the essence of Rolex's brand.
As one of Rolex's most popular and prestigious wristwatch series, Submariner's appearance has no gorgeous decorations or gimmicks. I found that Rolex's classic wristwatch series have one thing in common: at first glance, it seems nothing special, but after a long time, it is more and more able to feel its inherent charm. Series like Submariner, Sea-Dweller, GMT, Explorer, Milgauss and Daytona are all very impressive, but I'm not very interested in Cellini, Datejust, Day-Date, Skydweller, Yachtmaster and others that focus more on beautiful appearance.
I think maybe Submariner's success means something similar: Submariner was originally just a diving watch, but wearing more people naturally became a benchmark legend.

What kind of people wear a Patek Philippe Nautilus?
If a person has large amounts of money, good taste in watches, and a lifestyle involving exposure to sweat, dust, shock, water, formal occasions, meeting Royalty, and sleeping in vast deep smelly mud-pits, the Patek Nautilus should be a suitable watch. But is the limited availability a problem? It is not unknown for the rich and famous to be somewhat short on time, and such a person galloping from point A to point B and able to stop for no longer than 12 minutes at a jeweller's somewhere between with the aim of buying a Nautilus, may be disappointed. There is a waiting list for Rolexes so they won't be able to buy one of those either. I bought a Seiko product in about 5 minutes once, and many Seikos are mudpit-friendly. There was some female celebrity who wore an unidentifiable male diver's watch on a loose band. It made an interesting contrast with her formal jewellery and attire at whichever industry event she attended. What sort of watch was it? You might have to track her to her favourite diving spot, and identify it before she sinks below the surface. Perhaps she can be found snoring gently in some mud-pit, surrounded by Royalty.

Which Patek Philippe watch would you recommend as my first purchase and why?
Patek Philippe watches of any type are very good, this brand is not about cost-effective, but about taste!
"No one can own Patek Philippe, just keep it for the next generation." —— Patek Philippe's classic slogan
Patek Philippe: the symbol of nobility
Every Patek Philippe watch is a super luxury. For more than a hundred years, Patek Philippe has always believed in the philosophy of high-quality products and abided by the production principle of "heavy quality, light weight and slow working". There is only one theme, that is, the pursuit of perfection. It pursues limited production, with an annual output of only 50,000. For more than a century and a half, Patek Philippe has produced a very limited number of watches (only 600,000), which is not equal to the annual output of a fashion watch, and only sold in the world's top stores.
Antoine Norbert de Patek, the founder of Patek Philippe, was a Polish revolutionary against Russian rule in 1831. After the failure of the Polish Revolution, he fled to France and settled in Geneva, Switzerland. He began to work in clocks and watches. In 1839, he opened Balda Watch Company. In 1844, Anthony Baida and Francois Czapek met at an exhibition in Paris. At that time, Jane Feili had designed a pocket watch with a thin case and no traditional key for chain and adjustment. This kind of pocket watch was ignored at the exhibition, but Anthony Baida was deeply attracted by his new design. After some conversation, they immediately reached the intention of cooperation. In this way, Jane Fei joined Baida Company. In 1851, Baida Company was formally renamed Baida Feili Company.

What's it like to own a Rolex watch?
I’m always worried about the scratches my watches can get but this is not the case with the Rolex. The 904L steel used is the toughest I have ever experienced. I own other watches that ended up having many scratches after the first few days even though I’m very cautious when wearing them. This just won’t happen with a Rolex (see an other story here : Marc Montagne's answer to How tough is Rolex?). Owning a Rolex is the guarantee of owning a watch that will never let you down. You just don’t hear any horror stories involving after sales with Rolex whereas other brands (and even big names in watchmaking) are precisely known for such stories. Scary. Unlike other brands that communicate on the number of movements they have been making since their inception, Rolex pride themselves of using just a few movements across their whole line that they have been constantly mastering and improving ever since. There’s also a saying stating that “wherever you are in the world, if you have nothing left, you will always be able to trade your Rolex for a plane ticket to go back home”. Though I was lucky of never having to reach such an extent, I know that this is true as the value of Rolex is known worldwide and never really depreciates. You can be sure that all your Rolexes will still be worth something. There’s not many brand where the same can be said. And then, owning a Rolex comes with a duty of knowing the Rolex story, it’s founder’s, the values of the company and so on. Getting this knowledge will make you even prouder of your watch and is maybe the best part of owning one. You will end up with an even greater appreciation of the brand, the watch on your wrist and probably will be looking to acquire a vintage Rolex. Don’t say that you haven’t been warned! Of course, there will still be some people recognizing the watch and asking you if it’s a fake or some girls hitting on you after having snipped what’s on your wrist but that’s actually a good detector for people you want to avoid and you’ll also encounter other watch freaks whose company are far more enjoyable!
