scarf update: officially longer than my dining table and the end is in sight! By which I mean I still have a good 30cm (possibly more) to go which will take me about 2 or 3 more weeks lmao

(i still have to wash this and twist the fringe but shhh. pretend it's all the way done.)
glamour shot of my finished wrap!! this one was woven on my 16" rigid heddle loom using a single cake of Scheepjes Whirl gradient yarn - part of it for the warp and part for the weft (and plenty left over, even. i should've made the warp longer)
it's mostly plain weave with some leno twists added in:
and wow it turned out so colorful and pretty,,,, i'm proud

Finished fractal! 196 yds of merino, dyed by an indie dyer. This is my last work of Tour de Fleece and I’m so proud I got it done! This was spun on my Turkish/crossarm spindle and plied on my kick spindle

I'm not gonna think about how long it took me to get the second sock done (second sock syndrome +cycling season+too warm inside to think about touching wool) but it is done! Fun exercise, though I found the way the heel and toe were constructed very annoying (would rather do the alternate slip/knit approach than juggle strands from the inside and outside of the ball).

Right, that reminds me
I'm on sleeve #2 already!
You can see that the first minty section on the sleeve #1 was where I spliced 2 skeins
And the sleeve ended in yellow... Which I initially didn't care about and just went on to use the rest of the skein. And I knit more than 20 rows before taking a look at my other 2 skeins and seeing one that STARTED IN BLUE (from the centre pull)
So I unraveled the back half-row and the amount of sleeve that I had. And it. Looks. PERFECT!! And I'd even say the mint band is starting at about the same height! :0
(also look at it - when this skein is over, the half-skein left from the first sleeve will continue it perfectly!!! Neat, right??) (yes I caked the half-skein because that was the best way to deal with the unruly ramen left after the unraveling of the bit of sleeve I had)
Downside: so far it's been slow going, probably because I've been needing NO THOUGHTS ALLOWED time, but knitting leaves head too free to not think, so I've been experiencing. The Horrors while trying to knit. Oh well, nothing special, so here's to next week being better

Shawl Thing!
Just bound this off yesterday! I initially tried to block it on our dining room table, my usual spot, but quickly realized it would be too big, so moved it outside to our patio.
Pattern is the Shetland Garden Faroese Shawl by Sivia Harding. I did it in Aran weight instead of fingering weight, as I wanted it to be like a giant lacy blanket when it was done. I think I succeeded!

Making friends with the new wheel.
The bobbin comfortably holds 120g
I could probably push it to 150g at least.
Plying was not as comfortable as I'm used to - had to make a lot of tension adjustments, and the hooks are on the right arm of both flyers (standard and bulky), so when spinning counter clockwise the yarn was getting wrapped odd.
I'm not mad about it though.
I didn't like the fiber - some random wool sent by the previous owner. I figured spinning something difficult would give me a better feel for the wheel
It spun like a dream regardless.
The result is a lovely skein of chain plied fingering weight that I actually like more than anticipated.
I'll math the yardage later
Edit - 360m

WIP Wednesday!
It has been…so dang long lol.
But I am still here! Haven’t touched this project in over like. A year 😅 Messed up the edge panels a bit (thought the edging was 3 sts, but about 10 rows later found it was supposed to be 4. Stitches were fudged and it looks fine. But still! Lol)
