"Suicide isn't the only way you can lose someone to depression."⠀
Okay. I cried. And I smiled too. But I really did cry. A lot of moments were crafted so beautifully that it felt like it was happening right in front of me. I could relate to Darius on so many different levels, and it felt like the book was speaking to me. Telling me that it was alright, you are enough, it's okay to not be okay.❤️⠀
Darius is a half Persian, living in America. He takes a trip with his family to Iran to see his grandparents and the rest of the family, as his Grandfather's health deteriorates. It's the first time that he is going to Iran, and once there, he meets Sohrab, with whom he strikes a special bond. ⠀
The beautiful friendship between Darius and Sohrab was amazing to watch as it unfolded. And throughout the book, I felt like I was there travelling through the streets of Iran, drinking tea and eating Persian delicacies. My google search is bursting with all things Persian. And the book made me so hungry, that I started watching recipes on making different Persian dishes.🍀⠀
And that's exactly how a good book should be. This is a must read. I would highly recommend it!✨⠀ Book from @tbb_box

It's okay to feel broken sometimes. To feel that you don't have it all together right now. To feel lost, to feel like you are slipping. Yes, there will be days, when you feel like you are not in control and that the world around you is moving too fast or too slow, regardless of where you stand. And it can be a scary place, you might not have someone around you who tells you that it happens sometimes and that it’s okay. When you feel like you are losing it, like you are not able to hold on, reach out. Yes, it’s difficult to take that first step. But that little step could be life-changing. To open up to others is more of an admission to yourself that you are not okay, that you need help. And that's definitely okay.🍀⠀ ⠀
We all have our days and moments, the highs and lows. It is only when we stick together, comforting each other that we finally find peace in ourselves as well. We are designed to coexist, which is exactly why the best way to heal is to come together and find relief in each other. ✨⠀
Reach out, when you feel like you need help. Give yourself a break, tell yourself that it's okay.⠀
To not be okay.💫⠀

"You are all the colours in one, at full brightness." ✨⠀
I had put this book on hold for a long time. I didn't want to go back to YA, it can get a little addictive :) Reading high school romances with its cute dialogues, moments and stuff. I love to get lost in it sometimes, but then I get really lazy to get back to some serious reading. When I heard the Netflix movie is releasing, I knew that I HAD to read it before I watch it.✨⠀
The story is about a girl named Violet, who recently lost her sister in an accident and has difficulty moving on with her life. She finds herself at the ledge of the school bell tower, almost ready to jump. And there she finds Theodore Finch, who helps her to get off the ledge. What follows is how Finch tries to get Violet back upon her feet, back to how she was again. And just as the novel states - 'As Violet's world grows, Finch's begins to shrink'. As the book progresses, we see how Violet starts healing and Finch getting more mentally ill day by day.⠀
And just like everyone, I fell in love with Theodore Finch. He was witty, deep and romantic. And yes, I cried reading the book. I have heard mixed reviews on this book, saying how it romanticized mental illness. But I'll tell you what I did understand. It's not a book that deals with exactly what happens in the minds of people who go through mental illness or is suicidal. To me it felt like it kinda dealt with how to cope with the pain of losing someone, who you didn't expect to lose so soon and then moving forward in your life.🌻⠀
All in all, its a very quick read, with some beautiful lines and phrases. It did look like it was designed to be a movie, I think it will be a good one. If you loved 'The Fault in Our Stars', then this one is for you. ❤️⠀

It's okay to take a break sometimes, especially when you feel like the stuff going on around you is tiring you down. Relax, do something you love - read a book, dance, sing. Spend time with the people you feel comfortable with. Go on a trip, it doesn't have to be somewhere far, just somewhere where you can spend some quality 'me' time. Because it is necessary to give your mind a vacation once in a while. If today is getting too much for you to deal with - go ahead and take a break.🌻⠀

This was such a short and beautiful read. Always has and will be a fan of Gabo. The title is pretty much the plot of the whole book. There is a young man who is murdered and almost everyone around him knew it was going to happen, yet no one stops the unfortunate event from happening. ⠀

Next time you meet an old friend, make sure the first thing that comes out of your mouth after ‘Hi’ is not how much weight they have lost or gained, or how tired they look. Let’s shut out that negativity. Your friend might have put on some weight from the last time you saw him/her, and you might, as in human nature, feel the strong sense of urgency to point it out and know the reason. But please don’t. You are meeting them after a long time, you have no idea what they are or did go through since you last met them. And hence, have no say in commenting on their life. But what you ‘should’ say, is something that they ‘want’ to hear from you. ✨⠀
Tell them they look nice, that they look happy or that it’s good to connect with them after such a long time. Ask them about their family and their current life. But make sure you pay close attention to how they respond. The moment you feel that you might have hit the wrong note, make sure to change the subject to something else, something positive. An old happy memory, of mutual friends or the stuff you did together. If they get comfortable enough to tell you any of their problems, ‘never’, unless asked for, provide ‘solutions’ or point out what they did wrong. Your friend wants to be glad that they met you today, not regret it.🌻⠀
Let them know about your life, but never make them feel like you are living it better than them. It’s not a competition. We all have our own paths to take and for some, it takes time. Be kind. And it will come back to you.🍀⠀
If you want to be surrounded with as much positivity as possible, first, you need to be a source yourself.✨⠀

I was reading this beautiful piece of work by Milan Kundera. It's amazing how true this is and how we never thought of our fears this way. All the phobias we have are not of the actual fear of it, but our fear of not being able to defend ourselves from it.⠀
I am scared of the dark. Pretty laughable for some people. But I do get scared of darkness. It's not that intense as of now, and I am trying really hard to get over it. And now I realise, what I am really scared of is not what could happen to me in the dark, but the weakness I feel and the fear of not being able to defend myself if something does happen.⠀
It's the same case with my fear of deep waters (Guess I am scared of too many things). Whenever I see a large swimming pool, I have this strong feeling of falling, as if the water is pulling me into it, even when I am just standing at the edge, not even touching the water. And I get scared of what will eventually happen if I 'do' fall. That feeling of drowning already takes over me, just by the smell of the pool.⠀
It's okay to be scared. We all have our own demons to fight. And we cannot compare the sizes of our demons. My demon might look like a puppy to you, just like yours would look like one to me. We all are scared of something or some feeling. It's okay. It really is.✨⠀

The world expects us to always have a plan. To always know what is next. You work hard to reach that first checkpoint and they are already pushing you towards the next. They don’t let you feel the small victories. They keep urging you to quickly make it forward, and it makes you feel like the first one didn’t mean anything.⠀
Stop. Take a deep breath. Bask in the glory of that first victory. Cause that is what will encourage you to keep going forward. Shut out the world. Just for a moment.⠀
I know it’s easier said than done. So, we’ll take it slow. Let’s get there together. Baby steps.🌟⠀
And for the first step, let us not let the world decide our checkpoints. Whenever you feel like you are being coerced to do something – let it be to get a job, get married or have kids, take a moment to ask yourself what is it that 'you' need. In your current state of mind, will reaching this ‘checkpoint’ make you happy? If not, take a break to think what your next step should be. Create your own checkpoint. And strive hard to get there.⠀
Always remember to do things that make you happy. I know sometimes it is difficult to face your loved ones and say, ‘No. Not now.’ But remember – you are important too. ✨⠀
