A loaf of bread. Not just any bread; fresh bread. When was the last time he’d chowed down on some fresh bread? He mostly got the scraps.

Mako, however, was chary. His brows knitted.

“What do you want?” No one simply waltzed about offering free fresh bread to just anyone. At least, not around where he normally lurked. When someone presented something, a smile painted upon their lips, a twinkle in their eye, they typically pulled it back at the last second with a ‘but-’ or an ‘if-’.

Mako didn’t trust this.

an omnium was secured, secretly, in the amazon rainforest closest to Ecuador. its manufacturing occurred close to the start of the “inactivation” of prominent omniums over three decades ago, due to evidence of fraud in Omnica, in which select members opted to continue working on the project despite political actions and wanted to maintain the presence of omniums and productions of omnics due to the benefits they personally reaped from omnic support and utilisation. due to the omnium’s security protocols detecting things that were harmless ecosystem vs things that were threats (e.g. hostile humans), it gathered massive intel upon the natural wildlife including life cycles, outward appearances, behavioural patterns, bodily structures, etc.

the omnium’s self-improving algorithm made an active decision to swap from purely humanoid designs to mixed designs (humanoid and animal or insectoid), something which may be deemed a “glitch” by their creators. it was something that arose shortly after it began losing communication streams with other omniums, and then began to gradually incline towards antagonism towards humanity.

an example of an omnic created in these later batches is Magi, seen above. based on the moth known colloquially as The Magician, but more scientifically as Monarcha Magicaria, seen here:

Magi possesses various hovering capabilities, equipped with the intention of security of the omnium from human trespassers. They would scale the forestation shrouding the omnium, then strike and rain bullets from above.

                 HE PROBABLY ISN’T ALLOWED OUT THIS FAR, but when you can’t feel the terrain under your feet, it would make sense to end up lost. Perhaps this is why Moira had insisted on having an escort for him– and this is perhaps the best reason to keep an eye on him.

He doesn’t really remember how he got this far, but upon finding himself under street lamps and other bright, jarring neon lights. When he does finally take notice to his surroundings, SIGMA’S made very aware of his displacement– but….  he doesn’t find it particularly troubling.

                    It seems a bit early to determine whether or not he’s “on his own” now, but for the time being, he tries to keep to the shadows, though gets distracted by all the different lights. It’s unfortunate, to have all this light pollution to block out the wonders that lay so tantalizing above the Earth– but the wonderful colors seem just as inviting for the first time. 

It’s when he’s trying to retrace his steps  ( OR LACK THEREOF )  that he drifts into the alleyways, trying to remember if he’d passed through one or the other and muttering in Dutch under his breath. While his jumpsuit keeps him fairly warm, he’s still very old, and if that weren’t bad enough, he’s made painfully aware of his lack of footwear, and the chill in the air makes his extremities go numb. 

                     The large, behemoth of a man some ways up the alley was nearly overlooked; in such moody light, he nearly blended in with the rest of the junk down there, and while his gruff, certainly threatening warning makes SIGMA briefly reconsider, he’s yet to encounter someone that wasn’t affiliated with TALON, which, ultimately, is what prompts him to tentatively approach.

“– Hoi.“ SIEBREN tentatively waves his hand, cocking his head to the side as he looks him over a couple times.

                     “Are you quite all right? Why are you….”

He momentarily rolls his wrist, trying to determine what he was doing.

                     “– sitting out here?” 

What a cretin. 

Mako, while disguised beneath the murky shadows, slowly plucked the hog-shaped mask that hung from his side. Dark eyes swept across the worn, leathery veil; the blackness scored with grey and crusted red, scarred from the many battles that Mako -- no, Roadhog -- had flung himself into.

He pulled the mask over his face, securing the straps towards his nape, and turned to face the intruder.

“Are you deaf?”

His big, meaty hands clenched, forming fists.

“Back. Off.”

Even as anger filled his blood and blurred his vision, he was able to note one thing; this man, this idiot was floating. A floating fool. Great. Probably meant he’d been infused with some sort of power which, honestly, hardly surprised Mako in the slightest. The world had gone to shit; what was a hovering person to the rest of the maniacs in society?

" How've you been, big guy?" Junkrat beamed," Haven't been causin' to much mayhem without me, right?"

Mako stared down at Jamison, the sound of his heaving breath barely audible through the thick, leathery mask. Even the mere fact that he was staring was thoroughly veiled; the glass fitted into his mask was tinted very heavily, to the point of his eyes being obscured wholly behind black. It was only by the grace that he had to tilt his head downcast that made it apparent that he was even looking at the other man.

“You wish,” he said, gruff and curt. Mako wasn’t the chattiest man about, which put him and Jamison on opposite sides of the conversational spectrum. “It’s not me you should be worrying about. You better be staying out of trouble.”

Mako stared down at the man; he himself bore an imposing figure, both vertically and horizontally, and he often found people shying away from him rather than engage in any sense of the word. The fact that this man had the gall to strike up a conversation prompted a pause from the bulking Australian.

“Good to know my reputation gets ‘round,” he said, voice a deep, thick rumble from behind his mask. Even if he wasn’t in Australia anymore and didn’t theoretically need the mask nor the inhalers to further counteract the viscous, blanketing radiation, he still kept it on. “What do you want?”

I only started having an active and good time in the rpc after having a few supportive people. The opinions towards multis and ocs is difficult to navigate, but once you find those baes it’s worth it. Also, mood at the fallout one. And TES. We used to be so open and active. Idk what happened. Anyway, before I stray too long, it’s been great having you.

Oh, shoot, I forgot to say you're one of the supportive people. I haven't seen anyone I vibed with as much in some time tbh.

can i just say how lovely and welcoming the overwatch rpc has been??? although i have seen some, admittedly dubious, perceptions towards ocs, y’all have otherwise welcomed me with open arms and my heart weeps happy tears

my last few times in tumblr rpcs (elder scrolls and fallout), i’ve found it’s VERY hard to strike up plotting and friendships and people tend to be more reclusive. meanwhile here i almost feel like people are leaping at the opportunity.

i’m admittedly quite anxious and borderline paranoid of others (my medication can’t stem ALL my symptoms of my schizophrenia and so i sorta have this?? baseline paranoia?? trust me it’s not as bad and influential as it once was during my episodes but i know it’s there), so i do tend to take a backseat towards flinging myself into interactions, but honestly? this is so lovely and motivating and i adore u all ✨

Mako stared.

“Huh,” he began, his gaze lingering on the… plump mouse? Oversized rodent? Although a talking hamster wasn’t exactly too far gone in any stretch of imagination, it was still startling to witness. It wasn’t exactly something you saw everyday. “You have, have yuh? That’s, uh, interesting.”

His eyes, however, flitted over the mech that the hamster sat in, crowning, with little paws flexing over the various buttons and controls splayed in front.

It was all very familiar.
