Just an Idea I had for you (It's about Lampwick in bad end of Real Boy: They All Lived Happily Ever After)

Imagine that Lampwick is turned into a Puppet and his purpose is to protect Sir Carlo (like a Guard since Lampwick previously worked as a Bodyguard where you meantion it hid background)

Little they (Carlo and Geppetto) din'it know is that Lampwick's Ergo slowly awakens in order to break free but still... he can't as he remains like "mindless" Puppet who follows Carlo's command (orders, please correct me)

After all, Lampwick will get revenge on ridding both of them in order to be free...

I not ironically had this idea for the bad ending in LOP! But Wick’s fate is kind of worse in my head : he is turned as a watchdog ( as you mentioned like a bodyguard ) but his faith is to become really depressed and scared of Fake Carlo to the point of acting more out of fear. He is not turned into a puppet but he is still human, just acting in a vegetative state when left alone to think and relive in his mind everyone getting slaughtered by Fake Carlo at the hotel. Everytime he rebels he gets punished physically and this makes him behave.

But tbh I like your idea to reset him mentally by turning him into a mindless puppet. I really think that a sort of feral animal-human like puppet would be so fitting just for him to forget being human before being turned into a what he is. Fake Carlo would pretty much keep him on a leash only to remind him that he is a mere tool nothing more. Looking at F!Carlo’s face might remind of Wick of someone dear to him maybe….
