Savour taster plates of delicious homemade local food perfectly matched with Islay whisky.

As you eat and drink the best of Islay, we take you to see beautiful places and you listen to the sounds of the island…. You feel the wind on your skin, and smell the sea air. You’ll hear our songs and music, drink the best Islay whisky and eat delicious local food.

We collect you from Machrie Hotel  and chauffeur you to the four corners of the island during the course of the day, stopping every hour of so to experience some lovely food and drink. You will enjoy special, sometimes single cask, Islay Whiskies paired with home baking; shortbread, shearers’ cake; lobster, venison, tablet, broths, oysters, local lamb….

Porridge is a metaphor for life.... It depends how you make it...and how you eat it. So..I make it with half milk half water and salt. Strong flavour - not too thin and gruel like if made only with water, and not too sticky - when made with only milk. And it needs salt to leven it, otherwise no contrast so it is too bland. But when it's formed...I like double cream, fruit, nuts, sugar and whisky as adornments... Life is for living, to enjoy and experience, to indulge, and to be generous...to ones self and to others. This tumbled little jumble might not appear much on first glance...BUT...what we have here is the generosity of my friends in various Islay distilleries. First off we have a 30 YO #CaolIla...30 YO?? ! THANK YOU! - bloomin lovely...thin and intellectual..not what I expected. Next up we have #Ardbeg #Perpetuum...because I said to one of the great tour guides- 'I can't remember what it tastes like'- and Santa appeared with a wee dram.... Then we have a lovely Caol Ila Feis bottle from years back.... A wee Uigeadail and a fantastic #Bunnahabhain Brandy finish. Then a 11 YO Muscat wine finish... and tonight I am tasting them all... and saying #SLÀINTE! to all the great distillery workers. Sometimes we are too busy to have proper blethers...but I appreciate you all. Here's to Islay' s great distillery workers- the talkers- because...if you didn't talk about it...no one would know what the workers were making!
