I love Endless Monday. The most I've talked about it has been over on my Blue Sky account, and searching on there sucks so I want to have some record of it here somewhere more "permanent."
The reasons I love it are so deeply personal that I'm not sure I could ever get across why it affected me so much. I tried my best to explain it in a Steam review I wrote, and the night that I started playing it I had a public crashing out in a random Discord server. The first 10 minutes of the game hit me so hard.
It appeals to a very specific kind of person, with a very specific set of life experiences, and I happen to be the bullseye of that target. It's a perfect balance of whimsy and reality that keeps you on your toes with the most charming cast of characters I've seen in a long time.

No way, random Endless Monday reference in the wild!
I haven't written about it here on Tumblr, but I think Endless Monday has become one of my favorite games of all time. I was absolutely obsessed with it for about a month, and I still think about it daily.

Endless Monday-commission featuring the worst desktop buddy: Tiny Tiger-chan.

The most important thing of all was having someone watching this moment. If someone is watching, then I'm sure it will become history.
Related to my last post, and Apocalypse Hotel in general, I think about this line from Girls Last Tour a lot.
I can't believe I wrote that whole post before watching episode 11 of Apocalypse Hotel. I don't think there was a minute my eyes were dry that entire episode. What a ride it's been.
#shoujo shuumatsu ryokou#girls last tour#this was the episode that cemented this as one of my favorite shows of all time#i might be able to say that for both shows#apocalypse hotel

As the episodes have gone by of Apocalypse Hotel, I've been thinking a lot about what this means and where it has to go. Yachiyo will eventually break down in an irreparable way, leaving Ponko and whoever her crew will be by that point, to run the hotel.
Despite that, what's so heartening about it is that this hotel, and the people it's touched, have become humanity's legacy. Ponko by this point is very well-versed in human customs and culture. She grew up here, and has just as much right as any human to call herself an "Earthling." She loves and respects what humanity was, as seen through the lens of Yachiyo, who was just doing her job to be a welcoming host to whoever finds themselves on her doorstep.
Hundreds of years after the humans left, after hundreds of years of Yachiyo and Ponko maintaining the hotel, it's become a somewhat popular backwater destination for a host of aliens. For these visitors, the Gingarou Hotel is a window into an entire world, culture, and civilization, inherited by, and preserved by, an alien who loves her newfound home.
#apocalypse hotel#;_;#ponko deciding to host an earth style wedding really stuck with me#its beautifully optimistic despite the circumstances

Oh my god this thing is so damn cool. I'm so impressed by what necessarily has to happen to make this thing able to transform the way it does.
It also further convinces me that there's no way to build this in reality. There's way too many moving parts, but it's not just moving parts. The amount of vibrations and stuff these things will get, how "loose" and flexible the whole aircraft would be, is just beyond me.
Even if it just stayed in fighter mode the whole time, I just can't imagine the interactions between the different discrete parts that all have to "grab" onto each other and somehow not shake themselves to pieces from the engines or buffeting or G forces or whatever.
What an amazing design though holy cow. I'm not sure if the VF-0 is my favorite Valkyrie, but I do think its fighter mode is the most photogenic of all the Valkyrie designs.
#valkyrie#macross#macross zero#transformable#toy#hi metal#now im wondering about the aerodynamics of it too

Made a slightly irresponsible purchase today.
A huge anime warehouse store opened up in my city. It is massive considering the kinds of things they sell (lots of figures, keychains, plushies, random anime merch, etc.) and cross checking the prices in there versus what I find online it's shockingly well priced, to the point where I kinda wonder how they stay in business.
Anyway, I came across this Hi-Metal VF-0S and well, considering the date, I think it's okay for me to spoil myself a tiny bit.
In order to transform between all 3 modes, this thing is insanely double and even triple jointed in some places. To be fair, I don't have any experience with any of the other transformable toys, but I am crazy impressed. It's a bit finicky and considering how small some of these pieces can be it does make a me a little nervous given how much force you sometimes need, but so far so good.
I'll probably leave it in GERWALK for a while because it's my favorite mode. I've always thought it was one of the most unique things about Macross and it just feels so versatile. I've always kinda thought you could get away with a Valkyrie having only a fighter and GERWALK mode since Battroid and GERWALK have a decent amount of overlap in role while the engineering jump between Fighter to GERWALK is a lot smaller than Fighter to Battroid, but I digress! This thing is awesome!

I love Azu so much.
This goes up through episode 5, which is as far as I've seen. This show has been a huge surprise, tackling topics in a much more serious way than I ever expected. It's an amazingly dense show too, with every episode warranting a rewatch to try and catch all the little details. They are all very flawed people and I love to see it.
Azu is also my favorite character by a long ways. She's angry and hates everything and everybody and especially herself. She's so much fun. In the entirety of the first five episodes, she has genuinely smiled once. The two times where she smugly smiled while making fun of somebody don't count.

I was rewatching that goofy "Odd One Out" short from Halo Legends (2010), animated by Toei, which mostly riffs on Dragonball and some other shounen, but my jaw dropped when I saw this.
There is no way that 2010 me could have ever noticed this, and I bet you could count on your hands, the number of Halo fans in 2010 that would have understood what this was referencing. Such a fun thing for Toei to sneak in there.

Just rewatched Star Wars Episode III in the theaters. It's been many years since I last watched this movie. I watched it when it came out, I clearly remember crying at a lot of parts because I was squarely in the target demographic to think it was the best movie I'd ever seen.
Upon rewatch, I have thoughts!
I genuinely had no idea how often I quote this movie. Multiple, "So that's where I got it from!" moments for me.
The passage of time in this movie is kind of weird. There's a lot of pretty huge but not very clear time skips.
Because of the former, and because how much stuff happens, I think this easily could have been two separate movies.
I didn't cry, but I still think the final Anakin vs Obi-Wan fight is awesome. Yes, it's indulgent. No, I don't care.
The absolutely phenomenal score is hard carrying this whole movie. Some really awful dialogue can kinda work because the score is selling the intended emotions.
Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan similarly kinda carries the movie by being both very funny and very charming despite everything.
I said, "Oh wow I remember this map in Battlefront 2!" so many times I lost count.

She's supposed to be a CAT?! WHAT?!
So I knew going in this character was going to be the mid-season Cure, but based on her design I always assumed she was a mouse or something. I mean, just look at her!
When they showed Mao in the episode I knew she was going to be related to this conspicuous blue character that appears in the OP, but I thought since Mao was cat themed (I guess not just themed, she's a literal space cat) it was going to be a thing where like Mao is the cat chasing down the mouse thief or something like that.
Honestly if it weren't for the -nyaa sentence enhancers and the fact that she's actually called "Blue Cat", then I would think the whole cat thing was just another part of the ruse. Unless... they're setting up another twist with her? Probably not, I don't know.
Anyway on the episode itself, I'm kinda curious how she seems to know so much about the Precure business. Star Twinkle starting with episode 10 has been one great episode after another. I love Lala. Elena's family is hilarious and wholesome. The movie director thing caught me completely off guard and was a great episode. So much love for this season so far.

Holy kino.
Episode 23 was the episode where I started watching Sky Precure weekly, only missing a handful of episodes afterwards. I actually had very little context to what was happening here, just that it looked really cool. With context... one of the all time Precure highs for me. I said it before but this rewatch is totally affirming my love for Sky Precure. It's actually better than I remember.
It's a really good Mashiro episode too, even though she's not the main character of it. With her personality, it's rare that you see her visibly angry, and it's so satisfying when she drops all the niceties and just goes for it. Most of the time though, she's this super sweet and supportive little cinnamon roll. Occasionally, she weaponizes that.
She knows Sora the best out of all of them. She knew exactly what to say, and how to say it, to get Sora out of her funk. What she wrote was the sweetest most perfect thing she could have possibly said that's also kind of passive aggressive in a way that would definitely kick Sora's ass and make her realize she's being a big dummy.
The letter, and that moment, were fantastic. I love Mashiro, but she gets the short end of the stick when it comes to focus episodes, so when she gets these "hero" moments I'm always so excited.
Oh yeah, and I keep forgetting to say this, but I think Sky Precure's soundtrack is underrated. I love how bombastic and heroic (hah) it is for key moments, but also the "quiet time" songs they use with the little leitmotifs the series develops.

Hahahaha oh my god both this account name and the reblog!
She really shouldn't have been that low. I genuinely think I got her mixed up with one of the moon assholes and that's how it managed to be a three way tie, because I SPECIFICALLY made sure to tie the two moon princesses at the bottom!
So I just went back to check the image they used on the website and oh my god know exactly how this happened now! I 100% thought she was Yorihime every time I saw that image 🤣
Sannyo was framed! I'm sorry Sannyo!
After 13 hours and 23 minutes of on and off going through the 700 choices you have to go through to fill the whole list, it's finally done!
Some pretty surprising results! At the same time though, I can see how it happened. Top 3 was always going to be Youmu, Sanae, and Reimu, only question was the order. In the end, Youmu is still my number one, even if I think Sanae is a more interesting character.
I was kind of shocked to see Nazrin at number 4. I've always liked her (UFO bias), but I was never a huge fan of her or anything. I think what happened is that there was a while where I was using Nazrin for a bunch of placeholder textures, plus just seeing a lot of Nazrin art randomly get posted. I guess it comes down to exposure. Plus like, "A Tiny, Tiny, Clever Commander" is just such an adorable name. I also have a headcanon(?) where Nazrin is the one that actually does the work while her boss Shou takes all the credit and I love stuff like that.
Shion is a newcomer. I really love her simple design and how she's just always kind of miserable. Also her super toxic relationship with Tenshi is hilarious.
The entire Moriya family makes top 10 this year, not a big surprise, but like Sanae my appreciation for them has grown with time.
#sannyo appreciation posts#sannyo#god this is so funny#touhou#this wouldnt have happened with zun art
