Old fashioned whump, the sort you might find in a classic novel. Bear in mind that I am a minor!†

Bleeding heavily…panicking…knowing they can’t panic…shakily taking a flask of some strong spirit…almost spilling it as they’re trembling so much…sipping some of it…trying to calm themself down…standing up…putting away the flask…clearing their throat…mounting their horse…hand over the wound to staunch the blood…riding back to the rest of the team…
Actually, I should just write the scene.

Thoroughly obsessed with a whumpee who’s absolutely done with being patronised.
They hate how everyone seems to walk on eggshells around them. They hate how everyone seems to treat them like a child.
They hate it, but they’re too weak to complain.

The worst thing about formal English is that it offers these wonderful suffixes, then only lets you use them in prescribed circumstances. I should be able to describe things as meatful or leftly or falsewise without departing from the formal register if I darn well please.

Trying (and failing) to find the words to explain why, for me, whump somewhat goes hand in hand with religion.

Reminder that your whump doesn’t need to be totally medically accurate!
Let that whumpee faint from blood loss and recover without need for a blood transfusion.
Let that whumpee get stabbed, only to recover and get back to business within a week.
Let that whumpee become ill for plot convenience, and let that whumpee get better in any span of time for plot convenience.
Medical accuracy is excellent, of course, and if you enjoy writing it, then by all means continue! But it’s not necessary, and if you feel as though it’s taking the fun out of writing whump then you’re not obligated to stick to it. As long as you’re not disrespecting anybody or spreading misinformation, write that whumpee who suffers severe internal damage, only to recover without medical intervention.

When they…
Get thrown against a wall, causing them to faint
Shakily get to their feet, only to fall back down as they try to walk
Ask for something just before they faint, especially if they trail off whilst speaking (“Sorry, could you quickly fetch me a… *plonk*)
Are too weak to stand unassited
Feel themselves starting to pass out, so they grab onto the nearest person for support

weak in the knees for situations where a stoic whumpee allows someone to help them. they don't say a word of acceptance but they don't protest either. Too injured to say no and too tired to deny they need it. Just grudgingly letting a gentle hand guide them to a bed or to wrap a wound. Then a quiet, "thank you." in between sharp breathing as they try not to break down in front of someone else. Love love love shielded vulnerability

Christianity in hurt/comfort…Christianity in hurt/comfort…Christianity in hurt/comfort…Christianity in-
Honestly I have so many ideas. So, so many ideas.
Are there any other hurt/comfort writers who are Christians out there?

Terribly squeamish character in a historical setting becomes unwell and awfully feverish, meaning that a physician has to come and bleed them. Since they’re already semi-delirious, this is not a fun situation.
