Super side blog for me to sporadically post about whumpMain Whumpees: Tim Drake (DC Comics) and Shawn Spencer (Psych) I have an unhealthy obsession with Psych 04x09 “Shawn Takes a Shot in the Dark” so expect to see a lot about that

The cultural impact that Psych 4x09, “Shawn Takes a Shot in the Dark” had on whump freaks who watched it really cannot be understated

That one tweet that’s like “oh that’s gore… that’s gore of my comfort character” but in the absolutely most positive sense u can imagine, with rainbows and dolphins in the sky etc.

Whumpee, limp, beaten, and half conscious bound up on the hard floor. Whumper kneeling down in front of them and grabbing whumpee's chin, pulling their face up to look at them without resistance as whumpee's head lolls and their eyes fail to fully focus.

a character fainting in the middle of being lectured by their captain for something they did wrong, both worrying them and explaining why they'd made the mistake in the first place, is soooooo good

I love when I find whump for niche characters. Like, that 20 chapter fic of this side character being kidnapped and tortured was unexpected, but I am very thankful for it nonetheless
#just thought about this kain fuery (fma) fic that i loved when I was like 13. I salute that author for their service 🫡#whump#whump community

fat whumpees
whumpees who aren't the skinniest little toothpicks alive
whumpees with flab
whumpees with thick thighs
whumpees with more fat than muscle
whumpees who lose weight while being whumped but then gain it back in recovery and it's seen as a completely good thing
we just need more whumpees that don't have the standard, typical, cliche "ideal" body type that society pushes onto us. because whumpees can come in many shapes and sizes.
i will never shut up about this because i hate the idea that people can only be helpless and deserving of rescue and victims and all that if they're skinny and little and tiny.

what's better:
being manhandled while conscious, spitting venomous words and cries for help as they easily wrangle your flailing limbs close to be hoisted along without breaking a sweat
OR
being manhandled while unconscious/sedated, knowing there's nothing you can do to stop them as they scoop you up or throw you over their shoulder, unable to fight the hold that doesn't even need to be tight since you're sure as hell not going anywhere

Guys, guys... There is nothing wrong with liking whump. I keep seeing it implied by people in the whump community that we like whump because something is wrong with us.
There is nothing wrong with whump and enjoying it. You can absolutely talk to your therapist or counselor about it, but if they're good at their job, their concern would be if you have shame around your enjoyment of it. (Because you're not hurting anybody.)
Which, there's a lot of shame being assumed in the stuff I'm seeing. It's not shameful. At all. Please stop projecting your shame onto the community as a whole. I am not ashamed for liking whump, and you shouldn't be either.
#liking whump isn’t something I’m gonna openly share to everyone I meet#but also I’ve gotten over a lot of my internal shame with it. there’s nothing wrong about me enjoying it

Underrated Hostage Tropes
1) The “You’ll do” hostage Whumper has come to target one of Caretaker’s loved ones, but finds Whumpee instead. “Not who I was looking for, but you’ll do.”
2) The ‘grabbed in the heat of battle’ hostage When Whumper grabs Whumpee and holds them at weapon-point, a furious battle slams to a halt.
3) The unaware hostage Whumpee trying desperately to act normal and not give the game away, knowing that Whumper can hurt an unsuspecting Caretaker any time they choose.
4) The ‘maybe I don’t hate you’ hostage Whumpee and Caretaker have been at each other’s throats from the second they met, only for Caretaker to be unexpectedly panicked when Whumpee is threatened.
5) The self-sacrificial hostage Whumpee holds themself hostage, knowing they have information that Whumper can’t afford to lose.
