She grinned and shook her head. “Sorry bud, my powers don’t extend that far. All I can do is give you a refill and hope for the best.” At his proposal to hang out, Bella felt torn. She wanted to as he was right but as she turned around and glanced at the clock, her heart sank. “My shift goes for another forty minutes. I’d love to hang but I don’t want you to have to stick around for that long.” At least, not for little old her.
Alec looked up at the girl, tilting his head a little before he shrugged a little. “I guess that’s all we really can do,” he said. He barely knew this girl, but for some reason he felt intrigued. Disappointed, he closed the menu before him. “I’ll just have to have another refill then,” Alec smiled, pushing it forward towards her. If he could pretend like he was alright- like the stress was lifted off his shoulders and he lived in some fairy tale where work didn’t exist and he didn’t have to do it, he’d at least need some sort of friendly face to help him. He had just the feeling the Bella could help. He flashed the girl a smile as he looked up at her once again. “Please.”

Jagan frowned, feeling sorry for the man before him. “My day has been pretty good, but I’m sorry yours isn’t! Maybe you should just go to bed and try the day all over again?” He chuckled at his poor attempt at lightening the mood. “Really, though, uh… Are the papers important? Could you make another copy of them?”
“That would be a good idea if it was water, which I wish was the case. In a perfect world this situation would all be able to work itself out and I could skip all the work and just be at peace already,” Alec muttered, shaking his head. He hated himself for coming off so helpless. He could always hear some sort of voice at the back of his head telling him it made him look weak. “Sorry sorry, I know you’re trying to help. Thanks, by the way,” he continued. “Work ever get you like this?”

cantdecidemyfate:
Melissa stares at the mildly distressed stranger and blinks a few times, as if he’d just asked her to loan him five-thousand dollars. “I’m sorry? What did you say? I was thinking about what I wanted for lunch.” Confused eyes traveled down to his hands, where she spotted the papers… all mangled and wet. They looked to be pretty important - perhaps a homework assignment? Or building blueprints - and it makes her scrunch her nose up in habit. “That looks a bit awful. Do you think a blowdryer would help? I have one back at my apartment.”
“I don’t think so,” Alec said, shaking his head. “I wish that was the case, then I wouldn’t be screwed. My boss gave me these papers this morning and I was supposed to have them nice and ready for him by tonight.” He weaved his hands through his hair, frustrated that he couldn’t do his job right. These days, he felt like he never really could, but he kept that to himself before he snapped himself back to reality. “Er, uh - I’m sorry, don’t let me get you down, miss. Thanks for the suggestion anyways. How are you this afternoon?”

bclladelgado:
She’d seen the catastrophe out of the corner of her eye and had made a beeline to Alec’s table before a drop of coffee had even hit the floor. With a cloth mopping up the mess, Bella eyed his papers mournfully before looking up at him. “A day is only what you make it.” she started before grimacing at how unhelpful that would be. “I’m sorry yours has been awful though.” Bella offered him a small smile, hoping that she could turn the situation around. “Is there anything I could do to help brighten the day?”
“Could you turn back time and not have let me spill all my coffee everywhere, Bells?” he asked, shaking his head a little before he looked up to see Bella’s familiar face. He meant it as a joke, but feared that it came off the wrong way. “Or you could grab a beer after you're done with your shift?” he corrected. He let out a small laugh as he played with his straw. “I feel like we haven't hung out in a while."”

laceyydarren:
Lacey was sitting nearby when she heard the stranger talking to himself. “Oh man, I’m so sorry. I’ve had so many days like that.” she said glancing over at him. “Sorry to eavesdrop…” she said softly realizing that she may have been rude.
“No, you weren’t eavesdropping. I’m actually glad you’re here. I’ve been feeling like I’m going crazy so a friendly face is always relieving,” Alec laughed. A small smile formed on his face as he looked up to see the girl speaking to him. “What about you? Is your day going any better?”

silasflakes:
“i hate summer,” silas whined, to nobody in particular. either someone would hear him and reply, or the complaining would make himself feel better. it didn’t really matter. what mattered was the fact his sleeveless shirt was slightly clinging to his sweaty skin. others might not be affected as badly, but silas didn’t tolerate any sort of warm weather well. this was the type of weather he’d lie around and complain about… well… everything in. thus, he needed to find a victim to do so. and, you know, a place to lay down. “i’m not made to live in these temperatures.”
“yeah, it’s ridiculous,” alec said as he approached the familiar boy. his hand ran through his hair as he sat down nearby. “for weather like this i should be on the beach with a cold one in my hand or something. if it was just a teensy bit cooler, it’d be just right.”

”am i the only one having a crappy day today? i accidentally spilled coffee all over my papers and i’m feeling pretty screwed,” alec asked aloud to no one in particular as he started to get up from his seat. he didn’t even know if anyone was listening to him, but all he longed for at the moment was a break from it all, some sort of distraction.
