   “ ow. ” said for probably the twentieth time during this whole process alone. well, there's dark hedgehog's answer. he'd been trying to allocate that restlessness towards bouncing his leg when he could / especially to distract himself from any pain when injury was being treated / but even that didn't seem to satisfy blue hedgehog's ever present need to move. he'd squirm, or quills would flare in tandem with anything that particularly stung, or just try to take a peek at what shadow would be doing — only to look away the moment it'd get to be too much to look at. all done involuntarily, despite best efforts to remain still like instructed.

   it's not the first time he's heard that, but the comment is ( thankfully ) being kept in his head. “ sorry, can't help it. ” there's sincerity in whirl's voice, sheepish look forming on his face. this was a scenario blue hedgehog had tried to argue wasn't something the other had to do / but shadow's stubbornness on the topic won out in the end, clearly. it's probably better he did, in all honesty — he certainly knew more about what to do than whirl did ( with the added bonus of sparing tails from seeing him so injured and inevitably scaring him to near death ) .

   the only downside to it all was the fact wound was bad enough to prevent him from doing much of anything, leading to that need to move and do something growing worse and worse every passing day. it's not that he didn't want to spend so much time with shadow ( he well and truly did / appreciation for everything hybrid's done being more than whirl could ever put into words ) , but they both would've most certainly preferred it under different circumstances than this. at the very least, despite everything, he's still in a better shape than he was when it all started, alive and well.

   “ yeah, but 't's not that bad. ” couldn't possibly be as bad as when he'd gotten the wound in the first place / nor the first couple times it'd be cleaned and bandaged all over again. whirl can hardly remember any of what happened to begin with anyway, everything being a foggy blur — likely a result of all the pain and blood loss being so torrentially overwhelming.

   some things do shine through, however in bits and pieces ... the searing feeling of flesh being torn and the monumental pain that came with it / firm hands demanding his attention with even firmer instructions ( the worried look on shadow's faced burned into his memory ) / shadow leaving and coming back / his struggle to remain conscious ... emerald eyes are suddenly blinking him back to reality.

   “ i'll li — ” whirl pauses. let's think about our choice of words a little more carefully, and try to actually be reassuring. “ i'll be fine. ”

whirl's handwriting is incredibly loose and quick ! definitely legible, but i can definitely see it being hard to read if he's really fast with it x)

1am and i can’t sleep ( i love insomnia ) so i’m thinkin abt void whirl bc what else am i gonna do

inherits the behavior of the nega wisps so he’s instinctual and volatile. v violent and will attack anything nearby that moves within an instant. extremely unstable and destructive. fighting is Very ill advised

whirls there but also isn’t. sometimes responds and is aware, sometimes isn’t there at all, extremely context / scenario dependent

can speak but his speech is a lil broken. extremely simplified way of speaking and will OFTEN repeat himself or whatever he hears ( ex: if he or someone else says smth and he’s Aware enough, he’ll pick a word or phrase n say it over n over ) . his voice is Very distorted and more than likely will unnerve anyone hearing it

doesn’t remember anything he does when in this state

can be triggered into this state by extreme negative emotions or his energy being corrupted in some capacity. admittedly its a lot easier to trigger it through corruption

the best ways of getting him Out of this state are: helping him calm down n come to his senses ( good luck ) , burn him out of energy so he’s forced to revert back ( good luck ) , or a secret third thing i haven’t thought of ( good luck )

   hedgehog pauses once question breaks the air / the active petting of the chao resting on his chest now shifting to just an idle action. huh. obviously it wasn't something that really crossed whirl's mind before — if it ever really did, it was something he quickly brushed off and moved on from ( like most things ) . knowing he was so far behind, that things were going so differently / guess it did really make his own zone feel so small in the grand scheme of things, especially when compared to strive's in particular.

   “ yeah, i guess so. ” finally spoken after a moment ( though it felt like an eternity with the way he seemed to zone out ) , gaze shifting skyward as he does so. “ never really thought 'bout it all that much. ”
