'It wouldn't be work if we enjoyed it, haha.' Janus responds. He was rather curious about the person Virgil was outside of the game, but Virgil seemed to be pretty guarded about details of his life. Janus understood- the internet could be a dangerous place. But the fact that he spoke to Virgil nearly every day and truly knew nothing about him was odd.
'i'm happy now that we're playing, though' Janus assured. A window popped up on screen to confirm that all party members were ready to start a battle- Janus immediately confirmed.

Virgil sighed sitting down at his desk and turned on his computer. He just wanted to relax and play some games with his friend… hoping they were online. It had been a long day, and he just wanted it over by now. It had been… not really fun to say the least, with so many deadlines approaching and so much work he didn’t have done yet… and that jerk that kept bugging him. He was just done with the day.
He started up their usual game and sent a message to his friend seeing if they wanted to play a few rounds… then he waited for a response. Hoping they’d come online.
@on-the-virge-of-breaking
Janus had been playing this game since its beta stage. He chose to play as a female mage (he preferred the clothing options). He's made several online friends through playing, with Virgil being his closest. Despite playing with him for hours every week, he didn't know much about who Virgil was in real life. All he knew was that they were the same age, that they lived around the same area, and were both guys.
Janus booted up the game and opened up his messages, seeing Virgil had invited him to a game. 'Good evening love' He typed.

He nods and buries his hand back in Patton's hair, ruffling it. "Actually, this will be easier." He moves to sit behind Patton, resting his chin on his shoulder momentarily. "You can work while I play with your hair."
(🦋 if you're up to it! @pattxnsanders) Patton had been warned against this forest for as long as he could remember. The people of the village said it was cursed or something of that nature, but he didn't really believe it. After all, he heard the song that echoed from it at night since he was very young, and he doesn't think something "cursed" could sound so pretty. So here he is, sneaking off in the middle of the night to sneak a little peak at what's beyond the trees.
@pattxnsanders 🦋 When amongst themselves, the fae were peaceful, happy people. Trouble seemed to only follow when the fae got mixed up with humans. Janus' father had said long ago fae were hunted for their wings, so they hid their kingdoms away from humans. He'd heard stories of them, but had yet to meet a human himself.
Janus was sitting in the grass, resting his wings for a bit whilst he played a gentle melody on a pan flute. The prince was rather petite, and would measure around 4'10" when standing (albeit he usually hovered above the ground). For the time being, he was oblivious to the presence of the human who was encroaching on fae territory.

Janus gives a laugh. "That makes me feel better! I'm happy the feeling is mutual." He reaches out to ruffle Patton's hair. "I'm sorry for distracting you. You can work now, I promise i'll be quiet."

Janus twiddles his thumbs. Patton's nervousness is making him more nervous. "I- I think you're cute, and you're nice, and you like my music, and...I just want to know more about you."

Janus blushes, his wings giving a nervous flutter. "I...! Think I like you!" He blurts out, his blush only intensifying. "I've never had a crush before, so I'm not sure what to do..." He looks down at his hands.

"Hmm..I'm sure it'll turn out fine!" Janus didn't know much about sewing but he knew Patton was certainly skilled. He took a seat in the grass and pulled a small book from his bag. It was a poetry book- his favorite from the castle library. He figured since Patton would be working he should also bring something to do. "I'm happy you could meet me again..." He mumbles with a blush, glancing up at Patton.

"Oh-!" Janus quickly jumps up to help Patton, worried about him potentially dropping fabric. "There's my favorite human-" He cooes, tapping the tip of Patton's nose with a delighted hum. "Whatcha making tonight?" He asks, displaying great interest.

The next night Janus is waiting in the same clearing for Patton, wearing the jacket he had made. He appears to be lost in thought, idly tracing his thumb along his pan flute. His father had told him if he didn't find a partner soon, he'd arrange for him to marry the daughter of a family friend. Janus couldn't exactly tell his parents that he was interested in a human boy. He slumps his shoulders, feeling like he wanted to curl up as small as possible.

"Of course. I'd love to someday own lots of Patton originals!" Janus clasped his hands together in front of him. "I'm afraid i'll have to get going. I'll be waiting here tomorrow at the same time, if you're free." Janus bows his head as a parting gesture, then disappears back into the forest. It was rather difficult to sneak back into the castle without the royal guards noticing, but he managed somehow. He hangs up his new jacket and curls up in bed.

"I insist. This is about what I would've paid for a tailor to make me something from scratch." Janus defends. "You should buy yourself something with it! Maybe there's something you've had your eye on?" He suggests. He understood Patton liked to help his family, but passing along the money to them would likely only bring about questions that could lead to them discovering Janus. If Patton kept the money for himself then that would help keep his identity a secret. Besides, Patton worked hard! He deserved to have something nice in return.

"Are you kidding?" Janus flutters his wings, flying in a quick circle, his cheeks flushing yellow from excitement. "I love it! It fits perfectly, and you didn't even need to take my measurements..." He rubs his thumb and forefinger around the cuff of the sleeve, enjoying the smooth, cool feeling of the fabric. Janus then takes Patton's hand into his and leans down to plant a kiss upon his knuckles. In Patton's palm he's placed a handful of golden coins- payment for his jacket. He wasn't sure what sort of currency humans used but he figured Patton would have some use for gold. Perhaps it could be melted down and made into buttons.
"I'll wear it every day! Atleast until winter comes." Janus promises, positively beaming.

Janus nods, looking as if he's taking this down as a mental note. "I see. I'll keep that in mind." Janus' wings give a quick, excited flutter, and he lets out a laugh, seeming to be relieved. He had been able to confirm today that Patton was single and interested in men- that was all very convenient for him! How lucky he had been to be found by such a cute human.

"I don't mind, as long as we can still chat." Janus' hand brushes over Patton's, which causes his heart to seize for a moment. "S- So, hypothetically, if I wanted to court a human, are there certain traditions or rituals in your culture?" Janus glances aside, feeling a bit sheepish.
"In my kingdom, you might write poetry or music for someone you're interested in. It's common for couples to wear matching bracelets when they're dating- of course, the bracelets are traded for rings once a marriage occurs."

"You're a marvelous craftsman." Janus' watches his hands curiously. "You work fast and precisely. Your mother was right, i'm certain this is a gift." He catches himself smiling at the human. He was so enthralled by him! Janus could feel a crush budding. "Can I see you again tomorrow, Patton? It doesn't have to be every night, if you're busy..." Janus looks down sheepishly.

Janus listens to Patton, gradually becoming more and more flustered. Once Patton finishes speaking he leans in to kiss the human's forehead. "Thank you for putting me at ease. I've never outright told my parents about my preference, but something tells me my father wouldn't understand anyways." He looks at Patton's work for the first time (he'd been too distracted by Patton himself) and lets out an excited squeak. "The detail is incredible, Patton-" He praised.

"Well...there's a bit of a problem." Janus frowned. "My parents want me to marry a nice girl and have tons of kids. But i've never been drawn to women romantically. I'll either give in and live the life they want for me, or wind up a disappointing prince and son." He gave a heavy sigh, his wings drooping a bit. He then perks up a little at the realization Patton had complimented him. "Handsome? I'm happy you think so!"
