you know what i think is really interesting.. since east high did a production of batb a couple years before and ej used to get all the leads he was definitely the beast….. and now he’s gaston and he’s totally fine with it. not only did he want a supporting role this go around but he’s totally okay seeing his former rival play the lead. help i love ej caswell so much his development is *chefs kiss* he deserves the world

i’m gonna be honest with you… i didn’t expect them to go above and beyond with ej’s character development. i thought him stepping down for the part of troy and buying gina the plane ticket was the only selfless act he’d do. but this season he continues to be better. he gets sweeter and selfless more and more as the show goes on.

ej caswell has my entire heart and soul. literally my comfort character 🥺💜

with the new information about Lily, i'd love to see EJ develop a friendship with her in the upcoming seasons- since he's gone through something similar, he'd be the best to help her learn that social media isn't everything like she's been taught to think

no but legit i know people i’ve talked to are INTENT on her just being a villain but- lily’s clearly capable of being mean but she’s also imo clearly a jesse st. james so what i’m just better type rather than the i will bully all of you type? and i think that giving her a backstory is a viable option bc- she’s got the potential to bounce off ricky really well

she’s got a social media obsessed mother and like- that does explain a lot. miss girl has NEVER heard of the golden rule before and she’s like ??? what do you mean we have nothing in common we’re the leads of our respective shows? her identity is formed through what she DOES and her follower count is the only thing that gets her positive attention from her mother so no wonder she pushes herself up to try to be at the top… it doesn’t matter so much how you treat people as how you’re viewed cue popular from wicked…

she KNOWS no one likes her and she sees ricky being actually admired in his spot and she’s like wait you can be on top AND have friends… it’s so foreign to her and i’m excited to see what they do with it.

his confusion over what to do with her is EXCELLENT though like- she’s a strange duck and her little “you’re a good soul ricky. hug emoji! okay!” was the cutest thing ever okay… she’s baby

there’s something so refreshing abt big red not having “big”, lofty goals, but instead just wanting to be content. i feel like we have so much representation of ppl having big dreams that seeing those that just want to be happy with friends and family is so rare in media? and i think it’s so important that big red doesn’t necessarily want such big things. it fits him perfectly and i adore him.

while i agree Cogsworth could've been played by Seb, i think it would've been interesting if Gina was cast as Cogsworth. Lumiere and Cogsworth's personalities fit well with the early subplot of Carlos and Gina's disagreements (we could've had version 2 of the Ricky and EJ basketball scene)

plus, seeing them bicker but still value their friendship on stage makes a nice circle of their relationship in season 2!
