“ you’re telling me, i’m surprised he hasn’t had a heart attack in one of these booths by now “ she rubbed her temple turning her face in a knot. she could almost taste it. whitney slid over the counter and shuffled over to the booth. “whew..”, she plopped down with a sigh, reaching in taking a piece of the cookie. “ oh these? “ she held the cookie up and shook her head huffing out a laugh. “ i actually have no idea how these are made it’s like this secret family recipe that my dad will leave to me in his will and yada yada yah..” she shrugs “ honestly my whole life i just remember popping them in the oven, my parents always handled the gritty stuff..” she roamed off finally popping the piece in her mouth. “mmm..”, holding a finger up, “ but no, the taste never gets old. the quesadillas though, now i remember those being the best thing ever discovered when i was younger! but you see nothing tastes the same nowadays anyways. even koolaid jammers have less sugar in them now. “

savannah’s eyes widen in disbelief, but narrow out again as she crinkles her nose. “six espresso shots is… excessive,” she remarks. “hyper is pretty much my baseline and all of the sugar in this probably doesn’t help, but i’d be on a whole different level of crazy if i got espresso involved. and that much of it? forget about it.” she takes a hearty sip of her coffee, giving a little cheer when whitney agrees to join her. “i’m gonna go grab us a booth,” she says, skipping off. when she’s settled at the table, she fishes her cookie out of it’s bag and breaks it in half. “do you even like these things?” she inquires. “i feel like nothing’s ever as good when you know how it’s made. like i love peanut butter and jelly, right? but making a bajillion a day at the day camp made them less appealing to me somehow, i swear. and our quesadillas too. when i was a camper i thought they were phenomenal, but now that i know they’re just shredded taco cheese microwaved on a tortilla, they don’t taste as awesome.”

“ no lie, you almost got me. “ she admitted waving her finger. “ you’d be insane to order anything hot in this weather honestly.” she gave a small sigh of relief at the thought of someone not being phased by the hype. “ right! i’m glad someone gets it. these big corporations don’t care about customer individuality or needs. just their paychecks. i’m just like what do they provide that we can’t? ” whitney shook her head with a huff pulling out a famous spriggs cookie, wrapping it nicely. “ for you, a cookie on the house. ” sliding it across the counter with a warm smile. “ for being a loyal customer. “

shaking her head with a small laugh she leaned over the counter. “ actually believe it or not i’ve made way worse sounding orders, one guy takes 6 expresso shots every day! ” whitney exclaimed before fake gagging. she’d ducked slightly under the counter searching for a cleaning towel as she continued to ramble. “ but hey if they like it i love it.” she perked up from under the counter, pleased by the offer. “ you had me at break. i can actually take off now. ” she replied, already untying her apron.
whitneydiaries:
“ order 531, vanilla iced coffee!” she she shouted across the counter, sounding off her bell twice. hours here had seemed so long around the town ever since the pavilion and all those hot shot business started popping up around town. she’d seen several of her regulars on snapchat down at the grey area just living it up and was happy to see a familiar face as the frequenter approached. “ ahh, should’ve known this one was you! ” she beamed placing the cup on the counter and taking the order marker, “ well, here you go vanilla iced coffee just how you like it, thanks for shopping local ! “
“extra cream, extra sugar and extra pump of vanilla should’ve tipped you off, yeah,” savannah grins, snatching up her coffee and puncturing the lid with a straw. “i’ve gotta be the only person in this town gross enough to consume this,” pausing for a sip, she hums her appreciation. “perfect as always.” just as she’s about to turn away, an idea comes to her. “hey, when’s your break?” she asks. “the kitchen sink cookie i just bought is literally, like, the size of my face. we could split it.”

"I uh..I don’t know..” whitney’s head was low as she tried to avoid being noticed by any peers. “Gwen, right?” she paused looking around. “to tell you the truth i’m not even supposed to be here.”,she whispered. “i just walked by the other day and it smelled soo good!” she sighed admittedly, shaking her head. “maybe this pavilion thing wasn’t such a bad idea after all.” her friends would be so down her throat if they heard her say that. she’d been so actively protesting all week. what with being the spriggs’ daughter and all she was just glad to take a break and dip her foot into the gentrification just a little. “I’m sure one steak won’t hurt..” she thought aloud.
“ i’m going on my break ! ” gwen chimed as she exited the boutique heading towards downtown for a bite to eat. before the expansion began the only places she could grab a decent lunch was the spriggs cafe or the diner, but now there were so many new places to try out. she spotted a small line forming outside what seemed to be a new steakhouse chain opening up in the pavilion and immediately went to check it out. “ you think this place will be any good ? ” she asked the person closest to her that seemed to be also watching the line get longer. “ i’d kill for some proper barbecue in this town. ”
