Mokuba offered a small smile in return, reaching out to carefully take the taller man’s hand. It was going to be slightly odd playing the other role in dancing but it might be sort of nice to allow someone to lead.
“As do you.”
His free hand reaching up to rest against his bicep, being a little too short to comfortable rest it on Rosenkreuz’s shoulder.
Christian began to lead a simple waltz. Princess or not, she was clearly very young, and the difference in their heights made a simpler dance the best option for the situation. As they danced, he found there was something strangely familiar about her -- something warm, kind, and reliable that he couldn’t quite place. He had felt it earlier before as well. (Probably what made him approach the princess in the first place.)
When the song ended, Christian smiled once more. “I dare say that was the best dance I’ve had all night. I envy your courtesans.”

Mokuba tensed slightly the moment the man bowed in front of him. It hadn’t even been 10 minutes, or at least it didn’t feel like that much time had passed before being approached for a dance. Right– princess. A reminder that he had to keep up the persona.
“Ah– It would be my honor kind sir.”
He gave a small curtsy, allowing the rose to be placed in his hair.
He gently placed the rose in the young princess’s hair. Tucked safely by her mask, he smiled kindly at the result. Once more he extended his hand to her, this time for the dance. “You look splendid, your majesty. Shall we?”

He’s just going to you know– walk right into the ball dressed as a princess, specifically Princess Adena. He’s small enough and got enough help from the maid that no one should be the wiser who he is.
“Ahh~! Your majesty!” He gives the princess a large, sweeping bow. “If I may be so bold, might you honor me with a dance?” He holds out his hand after he bows, offering up a white rose for her hair.

“Are you looking to use monsters as energy sources for your rituals?” It was a fair question for how much the energy had been emphasized upon. The unasked offer was tempting, a little too tempting. He’s sure that any other creature that heard heart tugging story would be throwing out their support by now… It felt suspicious, but that was more than his natural distrust of a new face.
He was never one to ignore it, and he wasn’t going to start now. His emotions would get the best of him in most situations, but this was far too important for him to accept something so costly. Energy was needed, he understood, but how much from every willing soul? To be left weak around those Gandora didn’t trust sounded like a free ticket to an early grave.
Of course he wanted the best for his fellow monsters, but its wishful thinking that old grudges would be put aside for a human that none of them were connected to…
“I will need some sort of proof of your claims and plans. If you can show me other monsters who are willing to do as you request, I will consider leading my power to aid you as well.”
“You are as wise as you are fair, lord Gandora. I know in my heart that my beloved angels would be my first and most loyal allies in this quest. However...”
He takes a knee to face the dragon.
“I fear I have yet to find them in this world of yours. Navigation is of the utmost difficulty for one who does not belong here, and I cannot do it with the ease of someone of your power.” He hated to ask the dragon for a second favor, and so decided against addressing it directly.
“As for the means of powering the Ritual... In a way, yes. I need monsters willing to lend their energy to ‘charging’ items with magical power to be stored and released during the ritual itself. My studies have found that this kind of magical energy does naturally recover over time, but... you would be depleted of it initially afterwords.. Hmm hmm, think of it like being tired after fighting, exercising, or running for a long time. You become tired, and then recover in time.”

Rosenkreuz certainly knew how to pull on heartstrings and emotions since the dragon could feel the quiet bitterness rising from deep within him. Feelings he had long since buried underneath time and idleness. Comrades in arms and those he dared to call friends among the humans had been ripped from him and then to be cast out of his very home. Fresh anger flashed behind the thick cover of emotions, but thanks to them, he only breathed out a heavy sigh.
Gandora refocused, having left a heavy silence in his trip down a memory lane.
“You want to correct the wrong that was dealt to us…? Just how do you plan on doing such a feat?” There was a noticeable lack of brashness in his tone, only leaving behind his genuineness.
“It requires a massive amount of energy and magic. The magic that was contained in those cards so many years ago are utterly gone. Destroyed during that awful separation. Similar containers to house that much magical energy must be created. Some from this world, and some from the old world. There’s just not enough raw magic to invoke to complete the ritual that I’ve created. I also need to create a ritual circle here and in an equivalent place in the old world. I’ve been working on this ritual for a long, long time... But I need help in gathering enough energy to create similar magical containers.”
‘Magical batteries’, he would call them himself. But Christian didn’t know how familiar Gandora was with the modern world anymore, so he decided to forego the comparison.

His silted eyes widened just a fraction at the confession. That would explain most of the confusion on his own part. Though he didn’t quite relax, Gandora was obviously less interested in being overly intimidating, mostly since it wouldn’t have the reaction he wanted.
“You have my attention, but speak quickly since you won’t have it forever, Christian Rosenkreuz.”
“Long ago, Duel Spirits and mankind were connected and lived among each other as kindred souls. Soulmates, if you’ll excuse the phrasing. I’m sure you recall those days. What I’ve been searching for, been researching for centuries, is a way to break the curse that sealed duel spirits away from the world. I was there the day it happened. I watched my partners, and those of my brothers and sisters in arms disappear... I felt the absence of a part of myself searing hot through my very being. A pain that mankind now does not know or understand how to live without. I’m sure you felt it too, if you were there. I want to heal that pain, lord Gandora.”

An odd form of test, but so be it. He’s already given him his time, there’s no real reason to stop now. Golden orbs narrowed as Gandora lowered his head once more. There was a normal inhale then followed by a much deeper one. There was definitely other scents on him so there stands a good chance he could be on his way home…
He blew down onto him before retracting completely, sitting at his full height. “What are you doing here? Who are you? Clearly you’re not a lost soul that just so happened to find this place. You obviously know what I am.”
Christian smiled.
“That’s right, I know what you are, and I am certainly not lost. My name is Christan Rosenkreuz. And I am the last living human who can recall the last time when you and your ilk walked the Earth beside us.”
Christian bowed deeply – some habits die hard, but this one at least seemed appropriate for the situation. He spoke once more upon his return to neutral.
“I have searched long and hard for a way to come here. I implore you to not turn me away. ”

There was pause as the human not only did not falter, but had the nerve to reach above the razor sharp bones to touch him. Either that stupid bravery or this one truly believed that he was in no harm’s way…
Which was true, he’ll begrudgingly admit to himself but not yet out loud. He snarled as he shook loose from gently tough and swapped his relaxed gaze to a forceful glare.
“How would someone like you know what I want? You are nothing more that an unfamiliar human that wandered too far from home. Maybe I am the type of dragon that learned to love the taste of human flesh.”
“Well, why don’t you smell me and see for yourself? I do believe you’ll find that I’m on my way home instead of venturing from it.” Strange words, to be sure. Christian was banking on the scent of his partners from long ago still being intact. He’d want to explain his plan to the powerful dragon in front of him, but now was certainly not the time -- trust first. The plan would fail if he didn’t have a plethora of duel spirits on his side.

Christian calmly stared back at Gandora. In a moment’s time, a gentle smile curled upon his cheeks.
“Because we both want the same thing; our happiness springs forth from the same pool.”
He reaches a hand out to the dragon’s maw and rests it on Gandora’s nose.
“I also believe you know I’m about as threatening to you as I am tasty. That is to say, not at all.”

Test Run starter call
Looking to do a sort of soft opening. I want to do a test run of sorts with this character before making a promo and really promoting the blog a lot. So please like this post for a starter call! I'll probably only do a couple threads, but this will also likely be the only time this account will be open to threads with non-mutuals.

A tradition
In peacetime, the ruler grows their hair long. In war, they cut it short. A ruler with long hair is held in great esteem, for defending the peace. The traditional declaration of war is for the ruler to send their cut-off hair to the enemy ruler. The statement carries greater weight the longer the hair: to receive long hair says that you have angered one who is slow to anger, that you have incurred a wrath not easily woken.
