I'm so excited for Alice in Borderland to come back. Season 2 ended in a way where i felt it was ok to end, but I'm down to for another season. I hope to rewatch the first two seasons before this one starts.

My TIFF50 Picks:
Carolina Caroline With the soulful appeal of the Jonathan Edwards song that shares its name, Carolina Caroline is a sweet, slick road movie about a woman yearning to find herself. Finding love instead, she starts robbing banks.
Obsession When a hopeless romantic makes a wish that his long-time crush falls in love with him, a sinister enchantment ensues in writer-director Curry Barker’s freaky and frightening feature debut.
Noviembre Based on the 1985 Palace of Justice siege, Noviembre blends gripping fiction and striking archival footage to deliver a tense, haunting reflection on conviction, chaos, and the enduring wounds of one of Colombia’s darkest days.
Steal Away Director Clement Virgo returns with a bold, mesmerizing, and erotically charged thriller that's part fairy tale, part fever dream.
Sirât A winner of this year’s Cannes Competition Jury Prize, Sirât is at once a visceral and metaphysical excursion, in which a man desperately searches for his missing daughter amid a roving raver community in the harsh southern deserts of Morocco.
Couture Anchored by a memorable performance from Oscar winner Angelina Jolie, this compelling new film from Alice Winocour (TIFF ’22’s Paris Memories), set in the Parisian fashion industry, weaves multiple threads of women and girls from Ukraine, France, and Sudan, in the lead up to a fashion show.
Eternity Set in the afterlife, this stirring drama from director David Freyne (TIFF ’17’s The Cured) features Elizabeth Olsen (TIFF ’24’s The Assessment) and Miles Teller (Whiplash) as souls in transit — and a troubled love triangle.
Mārama Far from home and haunted by visions, a Māori woman uncovers gruesome secrets inside an English manor. A bold, unsettling gothic tale of identity, memory, and colonial reckoning.
Adulthood Family ties are pushed to the limit in this devilishly comic neo-noir from actor-director Alex Winter. Starring Kaya Scodelario (The Maze Runner) and Josh Gad (Frozen), Adulthood follows a pair of grown-up siblings forced to cover their tracks after making a grisly discovery.
I've been attending TIFF since 2011. Generally when I'm deciding on which films to choose, I try to not pick the most mainstream or the biggest films there as they would be the most popular movies everyone else is clawing to see and I know I will see it eventually. I try not to pick films that have a release date relatively soon, however I have picked two that star some of my faves and I'd like to experience their performances on the big screen with a crowd and of course the chance to see them in person (ie. Eternity and Adulthood). I tend to lean toward more medium/small films. I try to pick more genre films that lean towards horror, thriller, or sci-fi and fantasy. I love the Midnight Madness category, but I'm not in love with all of their selections this year and only one I want to see fit in on the dates I plan to go. I spontaneously picked a Cannes alumni, as my original picks in that timeframe were unavailable, so I know this will be a good one and it's set during a rave, so edm vibes will suit me. I'm always looking for a hidden gem and I hope one of these really blows me away.

Currently at the TV on the Radio and I see a guy in the front row wearing a Wolf Parade tee. Once upon a time they were my top two favourite bands. So I think we should be bffs.

I saw Olivia Dean on Friday night. I had a terrible seat, a support beam was directly in front of me, but the seat next to me was vacant so I tried my best to get a better view from switching/leaning around the seats. Her voice was beautiful.

I hate job hunting. It took me a while to start again this time around. I now like to do the applications near end of day. Last job hunt, I had a few call me back like an hour later and that kinda freaked me out for some reason. Anyway, I get an email about a video interview like 2 hours later, which I would need to reschedule because I'm out of town that day, but still. Argh. Is this automated? What are their hours, and do I want to work somewhere past regular business hours? This is too fast for me.

Ugh Pete Campbell is such a fucking creep. And yes, I'm currently (re)watching that episode where he exchanges a dress for his neighbour's au pair and thinks he's entitled to see it on her rme.

Namib Web-Footed Geckos (Pachydactylus rangei), displaying biofluorescence, family Gekkonidae, Namibia
“Biofluorescence occurs when higher energy wavelengths of light (e.g., ultra-violet or blue light) are absorbed and subsequently reemitted at lower energy wavelengths in living organisms, resulting in a glow with brilliant fluorescent colors including blues, greens, and reds…” (Find out more)

I finished my playthrough of The Alters over the weekend, and I quite enjoyed the game. 11 Bit def excel at making challenging survival games; This War of Mine is an all-timer for me. I didn't think the game was too hard, but I found everything coming together as the sun was rising. I did have to save scum a few times, especially in Act 2. I ran into a bug/glitch where it stopped saving every morning and if I died and if I died due to rebellion or something, I would lose many hours of gameplay.
I got the good corporation ending, where I saved the alters. However, I didn't make more than one Rapidium Ark because I didn't see the point as it took up so much space in the ship. Apparently, if you made multiple ones, it improves your relationship with Lucas who can help remote steer the rescue ship at the end, but I always thought he and Maxwell were sketchy so I didn't bother, and I didn't help the food shortage back on Earth. That is something I would change on a second playthrough. I would also try out some new Alters. I wanted to make the Shrink to help with the mental health of the crew, but couldn't figure out how to. Another thing I would change would be finding the rebel base earlier and convince them to come back. Anyway, I would recommend this game to anyone interested in survival or base-building games.
