Jesus, I still get so annoyed by the “trans women have periods!” statement because honest to god, cramps and headaches are not menstruation. I don’t have cramps, I don’t have any headaches or moodswings, and my digestion isn’t terribly more impacted by my menstruation than when I drink too much coffee. But I menstruate. My uterus sheds its lining and I bleed. That’s all there is to it. The discomfort a woman experiences during her menstruation varies by the individual herself. I know women who can’t function on their periods without taking several doses of ibuprofen. But it’s not the pain that defines menstruation, it’s the shedding of the uterine lining. When I suffered from an eating disorder, I went several months without menstruating. And no-one would have told me “oh, you’re still having a period! You just aren’t bleeding!” because the absence of your period is a common female experience. Whether through pregnancy or an underlying condition, menstruation still is the shedding of the uterine lining and when the uterine lining isn’t shedding, you’re not menstruating.

No one is saying that in order to be a biological female, you “have to menstruate”. Pregnant women don’t menstruate. Menopausal women don’t menstruate. Women with PCOS might not menstruate. Breastfeeding women might not menstruate. Women with a too low body weight might not menstruate. Women who go through hormone replacement therapy might not menstruate. But menstruation is an exclusively female experience and just because you’re pissy one week of the month, doesn’t mean you’re experiencing it! Stop being so godawfully misogynistic and fetishizing our biological reality.

i go insane about this quest at least three times a week. the fact that the wizard's subconscious conjured up not only a version of ambrose hellbent on destroying them (which has its own insane implications for both them and mellori), but a version of malistaire that is gentle and helpful. a version of him that maybe, whether they're aware of it or not, they wanted in their life (ESPECIALLY if you have a death wizard.) a version of him that perhaps they can piece together somewhat through cyrus. a version of him that is the antithesis of the malistaire they knew because if he hadn't turned into what he was, they wouldn't have been sent out on their first of many harrowing journeys.

the fact that this version of him still exists somewhere in their memory during empyrea makes me cry. it's heavily implied that the wizard is an adult by that point in time, and they're still, in their own way, grieving a man they didn't know but were sent to destroy as a teenager. grieving a man driven mad by his own grief. i'd say we were so robbed of this malistaire and the young wizard, but we weren't, because it was never going to be that way. without them existing as they do, there's no story, and that's what makes w101 such a tragedy at the end of the day

why do TIMs think they're excempt from sexual dimorphism? like, dude, it's your bone structure. it's the adam's apple you're failing to hide under that choker. it's your brow bone and your big nose and your strong chin.

and i don't want to hear anyone coming at me with that, "women can have those features too!" because here's the thing: i know they can. I DO. i have a strong brow bone, chin and a wide nose. and yet no one has ever mistaken me for male. because i'm FEMALE.

what i ask is, "why do you care so much?". why do TIMs define themselves by worrying so damn much about what other people think if they're "living true to themselves"? this is what i will never, ever understand.

my girlfriend identified as trans for years, went on hormones, did the whole damn dance and still, constantly, was worried about if she was "masculine" enough. and now that she's detransitioning, she never mentions other people's opinions of her. she doesn't care if people see her as a man or a woman or whatever the fuck because she knows what she is. and i feel the same way - maybe i have these strong, typically "masculine" features, but i know what i am. because it's in my pants. it's in my blood.

but i can't count the amount of times i've seen trans-identifying people ask this question of, "how does one look at me and still say (s)he?"

it just reeks of insecurity. please go to therapy.

Homestuck Beyond Canon may as well be Jade torture porn with how they have the balls to shoot/kill her. Even if she does survive because of god tier conditional immortality, it's still the fact the writers wanted to dramatically make it look like Jade was killed and deserved it for having an affair with Rose. And of course, new troll OC is a fan of Vriska. As if we need more Vriska bias in this that the visual novel hasn't already beaten us to death with. At this point, I am concerned for James Roach's health that he should cancel the sequel for good. It's not worth the stress or pain over this. Same for Hiveswap. Hiatus my ass. Just cancel it and focus on yourselves. If the team wants to make money from Homestuck, then just do the base webcomic stuff. Epilogues and HS2/Beyond Canon are not and never will be part of it. Continue to make merch. Just don't make new projects and let people decide how the series ended.
