After the recent scrape of Ao3 I feel like now is a good time to say a few things

Authors: Limit your works to registered users only, you are going to see a drop in activity which is going to suck a lot but it's 10x better than having your work stolen and used to train AI. Please take care of your precious work

Readers: If you aren't registered, it's to get registered. You've probably been lurking on ao3 for at least a little while, and if you want to be able to properly interact with your favourite works then the best thing to do is get registered. This way authors can feel supported and you can still interact with your favourite works. It's important the authors and readers help each other out here

Registered Readers: It is important, now more than ever, that you comment and kudos on works that you enjoy. Even it was just one line. Hit that fucking kudos button. One of my favorite things about mxtx couples being put in a modern/no magic AU setting is how absolutely unhinged their actions would be considered

Hualian consists of some guy that was famous as a child/young adult before falling off hard and some guy that idolized him as a 10 year old only to start stalking and pining for him from afar for years afterwards. The stalker manages to score a friendship with this guy, constantly hangs around him and helps him, and once his red flags are discovered the guy is so chill about it. Even into it

Wangxian starts off more normal. Two guys that are sort of frenemies in high school with one being the suppressed good boy type and the other being your typical troublemaker. The troublemaker goes from being a bad influence to a straight up war criminal even if he’s lowkey in the right for it. Whenever he gets out of jail he goes right back to doing war crimes and instead of stopping him, the good boy protects and even joins him in his war crimes

Bingqiu is this teenager with a massive crush on his fresh out of college, no idea what he’s doing, teacher who was never really supposed to be a teacher, he just ended up here. Everything is chill until the week of final exams he gets expelled from school or something because of this teacher and goes through the worst trauma of his life trying to pull his life back together and survive. Years later he’s the equivalent of a gang leader and meets his teacher, who’s now terrified of him. He starts stalking him and trying to get with him because man he really just wants to be called a good boy

No. 6 Zine is now accepting mod applications for our new project, "Encore No. 6"! This will be a free, digital zine inspired by the upcoming No. 6 musical. If you are interested in being a moderator or a graphic/layout designer, please fill out the form below before August 15th.

In honour of the recent announcement of a Japanese No. 6 musical, we are thinking of putting together a free, digital zine called Encore No. 6! The concept behind the zine is simply to take inspiration from the idea of a No. 6 musical, however that speaks to you.

Anyone who wants to participate, regardless of experience, will be guaranteed a spot in this zine. All kinds of digital fanworks are welcome, including (but not limited to!) illustrations, comics, fanfiction, poetry/song lyrics, cosplay photography, craft photography, and more.

Everyone, we can fix Hamlet and Romeo & Juliet if we just switch the leads.

Romeo wakes up in Hamlet's body and meets the ghost of "his" father telling him to kill his uncle. So if course Romeo just fucking does it, because he never considers consequences, and then gets onto more important shit, like romancing Ophelia, political fallout be damned! But given that he's the son of the murdered king, he'd probably end up on top.

Hamlet wakes up as Romeo and is told that he can't marry the love of his life because his family hates her family. Instead of killing Tybalt and getting Merucio murdered, he's planning elaborate meet-cutes for the two warring families. He's putting on plays about blood feuds and how to overcome them. He either succeeds in bringing the families together or bores Juliet enough with his indecision that the glow wears off and she moves on; both positive options. Everybody lives.

Not to say don't use the book because it does have valuable information but the way weir is taken as a "leading expert" in "Palestinian costume" when her writing is just so sterile and academic is one of the ways that museums and academia manufacture consent for genocide by implying that people have already been erased and long gone. No actually she is not a leading expert, Palestinian women who practice tatreez are the experts and its so weird to me that this random person is considered a LEADING expert on my culture lol.

Here's a list of books and resources from tatreez and tea if you want to learn about history of tatreez. These include Palestinian and nonPalestinian sources, though, and weir is inevitably on this list because of how valuable her book is.

Would especially recommend Wafa Ghnaim's (the owner of tatreez and tea) book because she does a great job of narrating history that we need to see more of in academia:

literally ignore it. stop pushing. go do something else, enjoy your life, fill it with other things, do what brings you joy in the moment if you can.

go to the gym, take a walk to touch grass and look at dogs and smell flowers, cook dinner, watch tv with your friends, talk about your feelings as needed with ppl you trust, take a drive and blast your music, do the chores you need to do, the job hunting slog you need to do, read books that aren't for research, stop cordoning off your brain for The Craft or The Draft or whatever the fuck

forget about the project, stop thinking about it for as long as it takes to be excited again.

I want to write a book called “your character dies in the woods” that details all the pitfalls and dangers of being out on the road & in the wild for people without outdoors/wilderness experience bc I cannot keep reading narratives brush over life threatening conditions like nothing is happening.

I just read a book by one of my favorite authors whose plots are essentially airtight, but the MC was walking on a country road on a cold winter night and she was knocked down and fell into a drainage ditch covered in ice, broke through and got covered in icy mud and water.

Then she had a “miserable” 3 more miles to walk to the inn.

Babes she would not MAKE it to that inn.
