I saw this step-by step tutorial of how to Gird Your Loins and it needed to be readjusted.

This set of two bookmarks features one bookmark that is covered in yellow flowers and leaves, and another that has magenta flowers and leaves. They are hand painted with gouache and acrylic paint onto kraft chipboard and have twine tassels. They measure about 7 and ¼" tall by 2" wide.You can find them here in my shop.

Guardians of Las

Scyanatha Dubhgelach:  A lithe, pale-skinned woman, with hair the colour of blood and dark red eyes. She stands tall at 6 feet, and looks deceptively fragile. She has two tattoos: a Ginfaxi stave at the base of her neck, and a string of Ogham runes spelling “sgiath”, “wolf”/“peaceable”, along her spine in between her shoulder blades. Both tattoos are extremely faded with the latter being currently illegible. Her arms are littered with many small and nearly invisible scars from cuts and other small wounds received during battles or training, and she has a large scar from the right side of her neck down to the middle of her sternum, the result of an attempt on her life.

I’m dabbling in aesthetic making and a friend posed a color challenge. Make aesthetics based on only a few colors, the first being white, cream, gold and grey. It was harder than I imagined. But a fun challenge and what better subjects than my favorite team from my absolute favorite book?

Guardians of Las

Mohammed Idle (Seth Stormbringer):  Three things can always be observed when Seth appears before someone for the first time: First of all his skin is a rich, dark chocolate. Next, he’s tall (6′0), with a medium, athletic build. Third: his eyes, brows and hair are all a shocking, burning shade of amber orange.

His smile is bright and radiant as the sun, his features soft and gentle. One ear is pierced and he wears a cuff with linked earring that swings jauntily whenever he shakes his head.

Across his back he carries a double-headed axe, secured with a careful network of brown leather straps.. Largely unarmored, the leather bands that connect to his tan breeches are more decoration and intimidation, than anything else.

This is a man who dressed with every intention of stopping someone before they could test the resistance of his Half-blood flesh. His breeches are fitted from the thigh down, the snugness about his rear another token piece of fan-service, marking him either a showoff or a slave to fashion.

When on duty his footwear is doe-skinned, calf-length boots, held in place by laces that crossed over themselves multiple times knotted with sideways, off-balanced, bows.

Concept Art: Culvers

Hal Culvers of Don is a half-blood arachne. He took over the position of High Elder from his sister, Silvia, when she went missing some years ago. He is around forty years of age and looks it, but this detail hasn’t stopped him from becoming the Order sex symbol. There’s a saying among the Acolytes that you aren’t one of them until you’ve had a crush on Culvers. The second tallest man among the High Elders, Culvers never goes by his first name. He has greying hair and silver eyes and is often seen with at least one spider about his person. Strong and solid, he dresses in a variety of plaid shirts and plain trousers, only changing his style when his shirts are in the laundry – when he’ll dig out his plaid trousers instead – or he has to wear official Order robes.

I saw your disability post! I want to say that I'm so glad you included PTSD, I know people who suffer from it and I don't see it getting much attention in fantasy books. I also love that you decided to include dysgraphia! My little brother has that, I had never heard about it before he was diagnosed, so it's cool to see it included in a high fantasy series. Next payday I am definitely picking up your book! 🤗

PTSD is something very close to my heart, both of my parents have it. I wanted the characters to be a realistic representation of the lives they live and the experiences they have - PTSD is far more common than people may realise and highlighting it and normalising the people who have it, to not erase or “cure” them was so important to me.

I didn’t know about dysgraphia either until @guardians-of-las-vyxen introduced the character to me. Having characters with experiences that are under represented in fantasy was a huge factor in choosing who would be part of the main cast. I intentionally opted for the majority to be from marginalized groups.

I couldn’t be more happy that the series has been able to catch your attention. It’s my greatest hope that the fan base will continue to grow and that I’ll be able to expand its reach further, so the people who really need protagonists who they can relate to, can have them. I dream of the day where stories like Illthdar are mainstream, and I have every faith that they will with so much support.

Six Sentence Sunday

Here is an excerpt from Chapter 1 of my wip Kerridon

The industrial part of Kerridon, affectionately named the slums, was a distract overtaken by factories. The air here was always grey and so too was everything else, even the people. Raggers, that’s what the dwellers of the slums were called. Most of them were bent in the back from 16 hours days, with missing teeth and protruding bones. The factories didn’t pay well, but it was the only option they had. Raggers weren’t permitted in the wealthier districts of the city, the prims and poseys didn’t like the look of them.

Curse of the New Lands

 Fusion story time! This is one I’ve been wanting to write for a while now, and I’ve finally figured out how I want to tackle it!

 It’s made up of this prompt by @thewholekitandkabobble, this prompt by @humdrummoloch, these 1,2,3 prompts by @scandy-inspo, these 1,2 by @givethispromptatry, and these 1,2,3,4,5 by @thependragonwritersguild.

 Okay, some warnings, this is an angstier piece with deaths, a battle, and an ancient being that is done putting up with mortals’ crap. As usual, I didn’t go into a lot of detail on the gore, but there is blood and some wounds mentioned.

Happy Storyteller Saturday! In your WIPs what aspects of each OTP(s) personalities make the relationships work in the end?

Ji-hoon/Yueliang: Ji-hoon is a moody bastard, but he’s a decent guy when he’s given room to show it. Yueliang is supportive, but not gullible. She brings out the good in him and he grounds her when she’s being reckless, so they balance each other really well. They’re also both smart in different areas, so they’ve got some good complementary traits happening too.

Ambrose/Vera: Ambrose is a lil troll, who has poor impulse control and loves messing with people. Vera is the most sensible and practical, so she keeps him from doing something stupid like losing another limb and he makes her a lil bit more adventurous. They’ve also got smarts in different areas, so they fill a space in each other’s knowledge, but they both also crave knowledge, so sharing is a fun exercise.

Shun/Sarnai: Shun’s dogged perseverance gets shit done for Sarnai when she hits a wall, plus he likes succeeding when others fail. Sarnai is sneaky and devious, so together they’re very hard to beat when they get focused on a goal. They’ve both also got quick fire banter that bounces off each other, so their sense of humour and way of thinking is similar too.

Mohammed/Sorcha: Both have personality and charm for days, so together they’re an explosive and irresistible combination. They could super heat a room with their flirting. Mo’s also very compassionate while Sorcha can be a little bit harsh, so he softens her edges and she sharpens his.

Tadamasa/Aurora: Tada’s jaded and acts like he’s a decade older than he is, so Aurora’s youthful sense of fun cuts through his moodiness and lightens his up. He’s sensible, so keeps Aurora a little more grounded than she’d be on her own. He’s bookish and well read, and Aurora is more instinctive and empathetic with how she approaches things, so they’ve got both angles covered.

Yoshihiro/Ina: Yoshi’s pompous and a know-it-all, but he doesn’t know as much as Ina, and she’s got a better bedside manner than him, so she’s balancing out his annoying traits like the top doc she is. He’s an educator – kinda – and she’s a doctor, so they’re both smart and like being right, too, so their clashes and disagreements are fun, but they’re both smart enough to know how to resolve conflict too.

Calum/Glenn: Smart, practical Calum and smarter, more practical Glenn. She’s basically showing him he’s not the peak of the mountain and he’s showing her there’s nothing wrong with someone having your back for no reason besides they want to. He’s got a good set of skills and he’s actually nice, so for Glenn who feels like she doesn’t deserve nice, it’s a reminder she’s not a bad person.

Yes! I suppose my most known set of siblings would be the Allaway Siblings (Salem, Vyxen and Mason) as they feature in the new novel, Illthdar Guardians of Las written by the most lovely Rachel Garcia!

They are also in my fanfiction of that series, Kerridon. Which is ... not going well.

So far, the Kerridon rewrite has been nothing but self-doubt and indecision and bad feelings. I want it to be good but I’m struggling to get it there.

It's STS! In your Brotherhood series, can the relationships be nailed down to specific events where one OC was like 'yes, this person. I like them LOTS' or would it be an accumulation of events? I understand each would be different but does any one happen more than the other? Can i get any examples for the fluffy feels?

I haven’t got to nitty gritty with anybody yet, so everything’s kinda vague on those details and I expect them to change when I reach that point because of the extra characters and how things develop.

I’ve got an outlined scene for Divinely Volatile where there’s a confession, which I can still use, but it’s not gonna go exactly how I imagined it because there’s not enough emotional development from Ji-hoon and Yueliang to justify it. If I keep it the way it is it’ll be so ooc it’ll ruin the whole thing.There’s been breadcrumbs from both of them through the chapters where they’ve noticed each other in a romantic way, but then ignored it or backtracked or got side tracked by something more important than romance, but when the big moment comes it’ll be a definite Oh… I hope. It’s likely gonna be Ji-hoon more than Yueliang because she’s more aware of him and part of her narrative is the pressure to find someone, so she won’t be as surprised she likes him, but Ji-hoon’s just gonna be floored lool
