caroline ran her fingers through her hair, flipping it to the side. really, going back to studying was just tedious work when she had such attractive company across from her. “you could always do an all-nighter the night before it’s due,” she suggested, her gaze wandering south of the girl’s face, landing finally on the books before her. “that might be what i end up doing, anyway. if he wanted a good paper, he should’ve assigned it a week ago.”
𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐍𝐎 𝐖𝐀𝐘 𝐈𝐍 𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐋 izzy was going to be able to be productive now. there was no denying it, this girl had absolutely zero game. her past.. blunders were evidence of it. adjusting her laptop as she attempted not to drop her papers all over the floor, she took the seat across from her. “ my employees might have something to say about that. “ she chuckled softly, not making the effort to open her computer where the spreadsheet was located. “ is it about something you’re passionate about ?? i always found that the words come out easier that way... “ she paused, trying to come back down to earth and function as a normal human being. where was the confident woman who made sure to learn all her regulars names ?? she really needed her right now. “ i-i’m izzy, by the way.. “

despite izzy’s words, caroline still found herself closing more books than she was strictly done with. under the table, she crossed her ankles. “i don’t think i’m a huge fan of that idea,” she replied, looking up from her organization for the first time since inviting the other over. “but i do think we should get what we have to do done before we allow ourselves to get distracted.
𝐎𝐅 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐒𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐆𝐈𝐑𝐋 𝐖𝐇𝐎'𝐒 space she just invaded just so happened to be super pretty to top it all off. just fucking great. why did izzy have to have such horrible luck ?? she was stressed enough as it was. “ shit- i guess you’re right... “ she took a deep breath to keep herself from rambling. “ i should have done this days ago, jesus. “ she looked up, realizing that she hadn’t even gotten the girl’s name, but now she was too nervous to ask. the other girl wanted to get her work done and so did she.

“let’s do it, then,” lola replied, more life to her voice than there had been moments ago. bass thumping through her body while alcohol ran through her veins, just the thought made this day seem less horrible. “this isn’t really club attire,” she gestured to her outfit, more suited for work than play, “so i’ve definitely gotta change.” her head shook in response to the question. “kinda, but i don’t really wanna talk about it. it’s nothing major though. no one died or anything.”
𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐍𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐀 𝐋𝐄𝐓 𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐀 𝐒𝐎𝐅𝐓 laugh as the other girl motioned to her clothes. “ i’m not exactly in club attire either.. imagine me walking in wearing a power suit. that totally screams life of the party. “ she listened attentively as the other girl spoke about her situation, completely understanding the whole situation. “ i totally get it, you have nothing to be worried about. we’ll just go and i’ll show you a good time, yeah ?? how does that sound ?? “

𝐈𝐙𝐙𝐘 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐘 𝐓𝐎 𝐒𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐌 and the day had barely begun. she had taken the early shift this morning, which meant she opened the shop at five thirty in the morning. the people who closed last night had left the shop in horrible shape and she had opened with a trainee, who no matter how many times she had shown them how to work the appliances, they would cause the rest of the baristas to be backed up. of course she understood asking questions, but it pissed her off when the same question was asked every five minutes. she was trying to keep her composure as she got ready to turn to face the next customer, but it was proving to be extremely difficult. plastering a smile on her face, she leaned against the counter. “ hey !! how can i help you ?? “

𝐈𝐙𝐙𝐘 𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐃 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐂𝐊 of papers close to her chest as she eyed the room for a seat. she spent quite a bit of time here when it came time to create the schedules for the week. due to her lack of impulse control, she often walked out with a book or two, depending on how she was feeling. she didn’t even notice the other girl at first, just that the one chair in front of her was the only empty seat in the joint. when she did, however, she was immediately apologetic about invading the girl’s space. “ dude, you’re totally fine. do what you gotta do. i just have some scheduling to do. you can pretend i’m not even here. “
caroline was tucked away in a corner of the small bookstore cafe, oblivious to the world as she compiled sources for her paper. it was only when her eyes grew tired that she bothered to look up, noting the fact that the only empty seat in the cafe was across from her. when the other’s gaze met hers, she instinctively started containing her tornado of papers.
“sorry about the mess,” she started, “you can join if you don’t mind. i just need to get this done.” annoyance laced her last sentence, triggered more by the professor that had assigned the paper than anything else. “who just assigns a six page paper and says ‘oh, by the way, it’s due in two days’? like, what?”

𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐍𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐀 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇 quite a bit over the past few days. it was almost like it had become routine. she’d sit down at her desk and almost like clockwork, the phone would begin to ring off the hook. everyone seemed to want something from her. she knew the office would require a lot from her, but she never expected anything like this.
lola was a familiar face she enjoyed seeing every time she walked into the bakery, she always made her smile. she had made a tradition out of it, treating herself at least once a week. today was one such day. “ oh goodness darlin’, the two of us in a club together ?? now that’s something we gotta make happen asap. ” she put down the piece of muffin she was about to bite into. “ something got ya down ?? “
it was her younger sister’s birthday; the fact alone had put lola in a sour mood when she awoke. once upon a time, they’d been close, but their relationship cracked when lola left. over time, their contact lessened, until it came to a brutal stop when her sister had said her parents had caught her. lola hadn’t even realized it was a secret, though now she realized what a mistake that was.
she rested her head in her hand and lifted her gaze to the person in the seat beside her. red’s normally felt like home, but lola needed the thought-drowning sound of a club right now. “wanna ditch this popsicle stand and go dancing?” she asked the other, falsely bright eyed.

𝐈𝐙𝐙𝐘 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃𝐍'𝐓 𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐏 𝐁𝐔𝐓 be slightly be taken aback by the random question. it wasn’t every day that the topic of conversation during her shift was mythical creatures. “ you going for fantasy or scifi ?? those two creatures give me two completely different vibes. “ she smiled politely, gesturing to the empty mug. “ another cup ?? “
“Which do you think is scarier?” Maddie asked, slumped over her laptop at Greer’’s Coffee. “A fire breathing dragon or a sea monster that hunts by sound? I’m stuck and I need something scary or my next book is gonna suck.”

★.⁙⁓ nina dobrev, female, she/her, pansexual. ★.⁙⁓ Introducing Autumn Valley’s very own MAGNOLIA FRAZEE! She is a THIRTY year old DEPUTY MAYOR and a TAURUS. MAGNOLIA can be found at GREER’S COFFEE and their favorite autumn activity is DRINKING APPLE CIDER BY THE FIRE.
and here’s baby number two !! come give my southern belle some love.
magnolia was adopted into one of the richest families in georgia. her dads had struck it big in the design world, designing clothes for some of the most well-known names in hollywood. eric and sebastian had the kind of minds everyone in the fashion world wanted to figure out.
eric and sebastian knew that everything they did was for their only daughter. they spoiled her relentlessly and they never wanted her to ask for a single thing.
she was always very well liked wherever she went and had little trouble making friends.
she went through a heavy rotation of boarding schools beginning when she hit thirteen due to her high intellect. no school ever really seemed to fit her.
her dad’s moved up to autumn valley for a change of scenery. whenever magnolia came home, she would fall in love with the town all over again. she quickly realized that when she had her own place, she wanted it to be here.
she eventually found her place sophomore year at an elite boarding school in new york city. she graduated at the top of her class and went on to pursue a career in politics before getting her law certification.
she did hit a snag in law school, however, that came in the form of two pink lines. she had been seeing a guy casually at the time and he FOR SURE was not in the right place to have a baby. this made magnolia’s decision very easy -- she was going to take care of her little bundle of joy all by herself.
magnolia considered dropping out of law school at first, but knew that if she finished she could take better care of herself and her daughter.
just as she had planned, she moved to autumn valley for good and opened up her own practice. it wasn’t very long before she was elected into the deputy mayor position.
she enjoys her job, but there’s times when she misses practicing.
erica is her entire life. she believes that her baby daughter teaches her more every day than she ever could.
she’s a bit of a flirt and knows she’s got plenty of charm to spare. she’s very unlikely to commit to her flings though, only when someone truly gets her attention.
she’s honestly a total sweetie and wants nothing but goodness for everyone, but she will kick your ass without question if you make her mad.
she doesn’t like to admit it, but she does want someone to take care of her every now and then. she likes to think she’s a big bad player but is actually a huge hopeless romantic.
she has a bit of the sickly-sweet southern drawl when you talk to her.
come give her lovin !! i would love to see some exes, fwb, workplace allies, etc. !!
