having now reflected on tropes for several days, i've whipped up this poll instead of agonizing over perfecting the categories (so just roll with me here).

“What is up with all these unhinged anons recently” Well I am sorry but there is nothing “unhinged” about calling people out for chasing clout by writing fic just so they can get attention and validation and then having you and all their other friends rec the same authors over and over again, trying to get as many kudos as possible by breaking up their fic into like 20 chapters or adding to the same universe bc people are subscribed already and refusing to read fic by new authors. You just don’t want to admit it bc you’re in their little circle.

I've been following your blog for some time and I think you don't genuinely enjoy writing anymore and you're just seeking validation. It's incredibly obvious, that's why you came off anon on ao3 and yet still didn't get the validation you wanted. That's why it takes you forever to write anything, why you constantly doubt yourself, why you need your friends promoting INYD everywhere. It's honestly kind of pathetic.

And yeah, the reason your huge AU isn't on top is that it's simply not the best-written series out there. It started good enough and just degraded over the course. There's no passion, no soul anymore. The concept is nice in theory but the execution is not good, and that's just the truth. John and Paul are incredibly OOC, and whatever it's a fic, but you seem to forget that.

Sure, you can put words on a page but that doesn't make you a good writer. Just obnoxious how you need bloggers to promote your AU as if it's some kind of masterpiece. Too bad people are not reading it on their own, huh?

Hi anon. I deliberated over whether to reply to this but, assuming it was sent by a person and not a new and sophisticated spambot, I decided to reply this one time.

This was a pretty unpleasant (and quite bizarre!) message to wake up to but I imagine you intended that when you sent it. I wonder why you did? I think it's all too easy in the world of the internet, where we can hide behind pseuds and anon, to forget that all of us are real people with real lives and feelings. I'm not going to respond directly to the things you said because you are free to dislike any fic (and author) you want and for any reason you want. What's not ok is to try to bait or inflict cruelty on another person because of those feelings and I truly hope you'll think twice about doing that in future. There's too much of that in the world at the moment as it is, let's not add it to our little Beatles corner of the internet. Go forth and may you find many wonderful fics more to your liking than mine.
