(POST LOUIS)
Having only had sporadic releases over the last several years, art-rockers Post Louis had dropped out of our field of vision... that is until they popped up this week with their newest release, Stress Fractures. Managing to capture some major post-hardcore feeling, we can’t help but hear traces of the great At the Drive-In and its many spin-offs. At the same time nostalgic and modern, we love it and can’t take it off repeat. Makes us regret letting them drop off our radar.

When I first hear this song on Lido’s Diplo & Friends mix I tried for weeks to figure out who it was, where did it come from, why I couldn’t get it out of my head... Then when Lido posted that his management was pissed that he had played some unreleased songs in the mix I was excited by the possibility that the song was still yet to come. Well, here we are, almost a year later and BAM! Santell (“the light skinned Tyrese”) and Lido have teamed up to create a nostalgic yet new RnB sensation. Part of the upcoming The Passion Project EP, the song perfectly hits all those 90′s RnB notes and leaves us wanting more. Take a listen and stay tuned for what is certain to be a noise-making EP release.

We first heard about 19Hundred from their amazing house remix of Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain”. Now, the mysterious producer (or rather their record label) has released a promo of a new original and it lives up to the genius of that first remix. “Oh Boy (Feat. DAZE)” is an excellent club thumper with house instrumentals and pop vocals, but it also works perfectly for that end of summer barbecue. There’s not much information available about the artist other than a web address that leads to a cryptic and silent video of a woman covering her face slowly turning to face the camera. This mystery is very likely intentional though as 19Hundred is quoted by Soundplate Records as wanting to “bring back the wonder and mystery to music...” “Oh Boy” is set to be released October 30th so we might just have to wait until then to learn more about the artists. Until then we’ll keep our eyes and ears open for new information and music from 19Hundred... stay tuned!

Coming off of what has been one of the fastest rises in history, SG Lewis announced Friday the US release of his Shivers EP. Out on Republic Records the EP contains the hit “Warm” featured on HBO’s Ballers. The single received over 100,000 shazams when it played at the end of Episode 7 of HBO’s sports drama on August 2 and has since racked up multiple millions of streams on spotify. The other songs on the EP are nothing to scoff at though and with each new song the London (via Reading) based artist releases he’s further solidifying his spot on my list of the year’s best new artists. Definitely one to watch!
Pick up the Shivers EP on iTunes at the link above.

The production heart of what has become an amazing full band, Jungle, have taken those production roots and applied them to Mapei’s two-year-old breakout, “Don’t Wait”. Created to be released as a bonus track on an upcoming “deluxe” version of Mapei’s 2014 album, the remix combines familiar Jungle sounds with Mapei’s sterling vocals to do just what is needed to bump the song into 2015. With the video exclusive to The FADER you’ll have to hop over through the link to check it out.

Native Instruments announced today its newest DJ controller the TRAKTOR KONTROL S5. Native Instruments’ first piece of TRAKTOR hardware released since the debut of Stems, the S5 is something like a Stems-ready upgrade to the five-year-old KONTROL S4 or an entry-level version of the S8. Either way, knowing Native Instruments, it’ll be a quality piece of kit for DJ’s looking for a portable system that provides everything you need to do pro work right out of the box.

After a year of silence, Khushi is back. The London-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist says he took time, “to evolve the style of my music and make more room for experimenting and trying to carve out a new sound.”  His new track Stories is certainly something different, but without losing the Khushi feel of old. He tells The FADER the track is inspired by, “the feeling you might get when starting out on an adventure with someone you fancy, when the boundaries are undrawn, and you’re making up your story as you go along.” We’re certainly feeling it. Here’s looking forward to more new music from him soon to come.
