Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G First Impressions: Slick Looks and Low Weight #GadgetsAndDevices #Technology #Science #Gadgets #Devices #Android #iOS #Windows #Gizmos #ScienceAndTechnology #Mobile #SmartDevice The avalanche of budget and mid-range 5G smartphones continues, and this time, the feature marks a first for Oppo's F series. The new Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G is a successor to the F17 Pro (Review) which we got last year, and the main attraction is MediaTek's 5G-capable Dimensity 800U SoC. This has proven to be a very popular chip for smartphones priced under Rs. 30,000, offering good gaming performance and power efficiency. The Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G, available for Rs. 25,990, is one of two models that Oppo has launched, the other being the F19 Pro, priced at Rs. 21,490. Today, we'll be taking our first look at the F19 Pro+ 5G, after having spent a few hours with it. As a successor to the Oppo F17 Pro, the new Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G has retained two features that I quite liked from the previous model — the slimness and low weight. The F19 Pro+ 5G measures just 7.8mm thick and weighs only 173g. This makes it incredibly light and easy to carry around, which I really appreciate. Oppo has gone with more subtle colours this time around, with silver and black as the two options. The rear panel does pick up fingerprints but these aren't very apparent thanks to its matte finish. There's a little 5G logo in the camera module to emphasise its support. The chrome-plated frame is glossy but the rounded design offers good grip. Oppo says it has used a total of eight antennas placed all around frame in order to maximise signal strength no matter which way you hold the phone. The build quality so far seems sturdy. All the buttons are ergonomically placed and have good tactile feedback. Oppo has kept the headphone jack too. The Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G has a triple-slot tray for two Nano-SIMs and a microSD card. The Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G features a 4,310mAh battery and supports 50W fast charging The display looks great, delivering sharp visuals and a healthy maximum brightness. The 6.4-inch AMOLED panel has a full-HD+ resolution and an in-display fingerprint sensor, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. What would have made this display perfect though, would have been a high refresh rate, which sadly isn't present. Still, Oppo's custom Color OS UI feels fairly fluid. It's also the latest version that's based on Android 11. The functionality is familiar as we recently saw it in action on the Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G too. Oppo is launching the F19 Pro+ 5G in a single configuration, with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The phone has a 4,310mAh battery and support for 50W fast charging. Oppo says the battery can be fully charged from empty in about 48 minutes, which is a claim I'll be sure to verify in the full review. The Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G introduces a macro camera, which was missing in the F17 Pro Last but not least, we have five camera sensors on the phone. On paper at least, these don't seem to be too different from what the F17 Pro came with. At the back, there's still a 48-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 2-megapixel monochrome camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. In the front, there's a 16-megapixel selfie camera. One big (or rather, small) difference is the inclusion of a macro camera, which was absent in the previous model. Oppo is talking up some new AI video features, such as better low-light recordings and better quality when shooting backlit subjects. I'll have to test these capabilities to know if they're worth the hype, and I'm hoping for the best since the cameras on the F17 Pro failed to really impress me. Oppo has moved away from its “selfie-expert” marketing for the F series, and with the F19 Pro+ 5G, the focus has shifted towards providing a better video experience. So far, the Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G looks like a good enough upgrade over the Oppo F17 Pro, with 5G being the main driving force. Stay tuned for the full review coming soon. Twitter Reportedly Working on ‘Undo Send’ Timer for Tweets #GadgetsAndDevices #Technology #Science #Gadgets #Devices #Android #iOS #Windows #Gizmos #ScienceAndTechnology #Mobile #SmartDevice Twitter is reportedly working on an ‘Undo Send' timer for tweets. This feature was spotted by Jane Manchun Wong, who has found many features in Twitter and other platforms through reverse engineering. The feature will give users a chance to cancel a tweet even after hitting the send button, in case you've spotted a typo or some other mistake at the last moment. This timer will begin as soon as you hit tweet and doesn't seem to last for too long. There is no clarity on when Twitter plans to roll this out as this seems to be in the development stage as of now. This comes days after Twitter rolled out Spaces, a Clubhouse-style audio chat rooms feature, for Android users globally. Reverse engineering expert Jane Manchun Wong has dug into the code and spotted that Twitter is working on this new feature that will let users unpublish their tweets for a specified time limit. If the user publishes a tweet with grammatical errors, or wrong links, they could use this feature to reverse their action of tweeting. This ‘Undo Send' timer will start as soon as users press ‘Tweet' and will last for a very short time. If the timer expires, users have the option of deleting their tweet and starting from scratch. Based on the video shared by Wong, it seems like this feature will only work for tweets, and not for direct messages. Twitter could introduce it across platform when it launches it for users. Wong is well-known for spotting work-in progress features and she has earlier reported that Twitter is also working on an option that will let users decide whether to view or filter graphic media sent to them via direct messages or DMs. Just a few days ago, Twitter Spaces was rolled out for Android users globally as part of its wider testing process. For now, Android users will not be able to host spaces, but they will be able to join and talk in spaces, with hosting coming soon. At its annual Analyst Day keynote, Twitter announced a bunch of upcoming features including Super Follows which will allow creators to make money through the platform via subscriptions. It is also bringing a new features called Communities that will let users create groups around specific interests like cats, plants, social justice, and more. The company is additionally working on Safety Mode to automatically block and limit interaction with spammy accounts, and a new Birdwatch feature that looks to significantly help in curbing the spread of misinformation on social media. by Technological Updates

All the games will be available for PlayStation 5 but only a few are expected to be released on PlayStation 4 as well. Sony had announced in February 2021 that it is working on a new VR headset for Playstation 5 but it won't be released in 2021. The announcement, made on the PlayStation blog yesterday, mentioned the release of the aforementioned. Most of these games are being released on the promise of having a better gameplay experience, when Sony launches the next generation PSVR headset sometime in the future. Doom 3: VR Edition Doom 3 VR is the only game that has a specific release date – March 29. It is one of the two games on the list that will be available for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 with backwards compatibility. After the Fall After the Fall is a co-op post-apocalyptic survival game developed by Vertigo Games. It is one of the few games that will have a cross-platform multiplayer mode for up to four players, or you can play solo with AI companions. The game is expected to hit the shelves in summer this year. I Expect You To Die 2: The Spy And The Liar I Expect You To Die 2: The Spy And The Liar is a spy thriller where one can live out their James Bond fantasy to an extent. YouTube Removes Five Myanmar Military-Run TV Channels From Platform After Coup #GadgetsAndDevices #Technology #Science #Gadgets #Devices #Android #iOS #Windows #Gizmos #ScienceAndTechnology #Mobile #SmartDevice Alphabet's YouTube has removed five channels of Myanmar's military-run television networks hosted on its platform in the wake of the coup in the Southeast Asian country. "We have terminated a number of channels and removed several videos from YouTube in accordance with our community guidelines and applicable laws," a YouTube spokeswoman said in a statement in response to a Reuters question. The channels taken down include the state network, MRTV, (Myanma Radio and Television) as well as the military-owned Myawaddy Media, MWD Variety, and MWD Myanmar, YouTube said. Their removal comes during the bloodiest week so far of anti-coup protests, with 38 people killed on Wednesday, according to the United Nations, as security forces tried to crush rallies and used live rounds in some areas. The army seized power on February 1, alleging mass fraud in the November election won by Aung San Suu Kyi's government. The election commission said the vote was fair, but the military has used media to make its case and justify the takeover. MRTV pages were banned by Facebook in February, while it had previously barred Myawaddy in 2018 when it banned army chief Min Aung Hlaing - now the military ruler - and more than a dozen other senior officers and organisations on the platform. Facebook has now banned all pages linked to Myanmar's army - and was itself banned by the junta in February. Other social media platforms are also grappling with how to moderate military content and a proliferation of hate speech and misinformation in Myanmar. Reuters reported on Thursday that Myanmar soldiers and police were using TikTok to deliver death threats to protesters. Researchers have said that after the Facebook ban the military was trying to build its presence on other platforms. YouTube had faced criticism from researchers and civil society groups for a comparatively hands-off approach during Myanmar's November 8 vote. A Reuters review found dozens of channels hosted on YouTube that had promoted election misinformation while posing either as news outlets or political programmes. Google said in December it had terminated 34 YouTube channels following investigation into coordinated influence operations linked to Myanmar. Tandav Row: Amazon Prime Video India Head Aparna Purohit Granted Protection From Arrest by Supreme Court #GadgetsAndDevices #Technology #Science #Gadgets #Devices #Android #iOS #Windows #Gizmos #ScienceAndTechnology #Mobile #SmartDevice The Supreme Court Friday said the Centre's guidelines on regulating social media do not have any provision for taking appropriate action against digital platforms showing inappropriate content. It also granted protection from arrest to Amazon Prime Video's India head Aparna Purohit in FIRs lodged over Web series Tandav. A bench comprising justices Ashok Bhushan and R S Reddy also issued notice to the Uttar Pradesh government on Purohit's plea for anticipatory bail in FIRs on Tandav series. The apex court observed that the Centre's regulations on social media are mere guidelines and do not have provision for any action against digital platforms. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre, said the government will consider appropriate steps and any regulation or legislation on it will be placed before court. The apex court also directed Purohit to make Centre as a party to her plea. Tandav is a nine-episode political thriller starring Bollywood A-listers Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub. Purohit has been accused of inappropriate depiction of Uttar Pradesh police personnel, Hindu deities and an adverse portrayal of a character playing the prime minister in the web series. The top court had on Thursday observed that some over-the-top (OTT) platforms at times show pornographic contents and there should be a mechanism to screen such programmes. It had asked the Centre to place its guidelines on regulating social media. Mehta had said he would be placing on records the Information Technology (Guidelines for intermediaries and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Purohit, had on Thursday termed the FIRs against her as “shocking” saying that this woman is an employee of Amazon and she is neither a producer nor an actor but still she has been made an accused in around 10 cases relating to the web series across the country. Earlier, the apex court, on January 27, had declined to grant interim protection from any coercive action to Ali Abbas Zafar, Director of the Web series, Purohit, producer Himanshu Mehra, the show's writer Gaurav Solanki and actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub. It had said that they may seek bail from courts concerned in the FIRs lodged in connection with the web series. Now, Purohit has appealed to the top court against the Allahabad High Court's February 25 order declining anticipatory bail to her. A single judge bench of the High Court had said that Purohit had not been “vigilant and has acted irresponsibly making her open to criminal prosecution in permitting streaming of a movie which is against the fundamental rights of the majority of citizens of this country and therefore, her fundamental right of life and liberty cannot be protected by grant of anticipatory bail to her in the exercise of discretionary powers of this court.” While rejecting the plea, the high court had said that the applicant was earlier granted interim protection from arrest by another bench in a similar case but she was not cooperating with the investigation. The high court had observed, "Western filmmakers have refrained from ridiculing Lord Jesus or the Prophet but Hindi filmmakers have done this repeatedly and are still doing this most unabashedly with Hindu gods and goddesses." "This tendency on the part of the Hindi film industry is growing and if not curbed in time, it may have disastrous consequences for the Indian social, religious and communal order,” the high court had observed. On January 19, 2021, an FIR was lodged on the complaint of one Balbir Azad of Raunija village under Rabupura police station of Greater Noida. In the complaint, Azad alleged that the show depicted Uttar Pradesh and its police in a poor light. The complaint further alleged that the web series had deliberately denigrated Hindu gods and goddesses. Several other FIRs have also been lodged in states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Bihar and Delhi. Is Samsung Galaxy F62 the best phone under Rs. 25,000? Samsung, Mastercard Announce Biometric Card With Fingerprint Scanner for Secure Transactions #GadgetsAndDevices #Technology #Science #Gadgets #Devices #Android #iOS #Windows #Gizmos #ScienceAndTechnology #Mobile #SmartDevice Samsung and Mastercard have agreed to collaborate on making card payments even more secure. They are going to incorporate a fingerprint sensor into Samsung Cards to reduce contact points at in-store payment terminals. Although this appears to be similar to Mastercard's Biometric Payment Card that was showcased a few years ago, the new cards will use a more secure chipset from Samsung's System LSI business. These new biometric cards can be used at any Mastercard chip or POS terminal. Samsung said in a press release that the biometric cards will “integrate several key discrete chips, streamlining the overall component design and enabling more efficient development.” Earlier, MasterCard showcased a similar technology in September 2017 at the first Mastercard Innovation Forum in India. “Drawing from our strong security solution background in various applications such as passports, credit cards, and mobile devices, we will work with Mastercard and Samsung Card to create an environment where consumers can use payment card services with an added peace of mind," said Harry Cho, Vice President, Samsung Electronics. Samsung will be introducing the card later this year but will initially only offer it South Korea through its Samsung Card vertical. Samsung Card is a leading credit card business in the country and will begin gradually adopting the technology with corporate credit cards that have more international transactions. “We have big data expertise and have set the standard in domestic market for digital transformation and fraud detection system (FDS).” said Hanjoo Yoo, Vice President, Planning Communication, Samsung Card. “Leveraging these experiences, we will deliver a powerful solution to enhance payment experiences in close partnership with Samsung Electronics and Mastercard.” Samsung hasn't announced any details on the card's global availability yet. WandaVision Episode 9 Recap: The Scarlet Witch Rises #GadgetsAndDevices #Technology #Science #Gadgets #Devices #Android #iOS #Windows #Gizmos #ScienceAndTechnology #Mobile #SmartDevice WandaVision episode 9 — out on Friday March 5 on Disney+ and Disney+ Hotstar — wraps the Marvel Cinematic Universe series in predictable yet satisfying fashion. I think that's the best thing I can say about the WandaVision series finale. Spoilers follow. It doesn't go anywhere truly unexpected, but it delivers an ending that neatly ties up matters for mostly everyone, in a manner that's in keeping with who they are. The outcome for the (Westview) Vision vs (White) Vision battle — Paul Bettany had been trolling all of us, the “surprise actor” turned out to be himself — was perhaps the most logical. WandaVision episode 9 also packs an emotional pay-off for Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) that I can live with. As to their twin children, it's revealed at the very end that they are sticking around. It reeks of franchise-thinking, though I'm sure Marvel will justify it narratively via the multiverse. If the last couple of lines don't make much sense to you, then that's because you've likely missed the post-credits scene at the tail end of the WandaVision episode 9 credits. I mean, come on, this is a Marvel property — of course, there's going to be more than one last thing at the very end. Yes, there was also a mid-credits scene, but you knew that, right? Also see WandaVision Episode 8 Recap: Ghosts of Wanda Maximoff's Past WandaVision episode 9 — appropriately titled “The Series Finale”, directed by Matt Shakman, and written by creator Jac Schaeffer — wasn't too big on the plot, as all it had to do was tie all the loose ends. It did that for most of them, though one seemed like a gag, as if Marvel was having a laugh at our expense. I'm talking about Pietro Maximoff's true identity, which we'll get to in a minute. But that was a sideshow really. There were two big confrontations that the WandaVision finale had to depict: Wanda vs Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn), and the aforementioned Vision vs Vision. WandaVision episode 9 side-lined everyone else, including Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), Agent Woo (Randall Park), Dr. Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings), and the newest villain SWORD Director Hayward (Josh Stamberg). It began right where we left off in WandaVision episode 8 (no, not the post-credits scene), with Agatha threatening Wanda as she held magical nooses around the necks of her boys Tommy (Jett Klyne) and Billy (Julian Hilliard). Wanda warns Agatha that she's free to use her powers outside her lair — where Agatha's runes prevented her from doing so — but Agatha doesn't mind. In fact, that's exactly what she wants. Agatha lets the kids go, and they are told to run into the house by their mother, before the two witches start duking it out. The villain reveals that she can absorb Wanda's powers, making her more powerful while Wanda gets weaker. Her hand turns black as if all the life has been sucked out of it, just as Agatha did to her mother and coven of witches in 1697 Salem. Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness in WandaVision episode 9 Photo Credit: Disney/Marvel Studios Wanda throws a car at Agatha and smashes her into a nearby house, but when she checks, Agatha's body is missing. She turns around to find the White Vision on the porch, and she weirdly falls for the ruse. She believes the real Vision has returned, right up to the moment where he caresses her head before he starts to crush it. Thankfully for Wanda, the Westview Vision shows up and throws him into a RV that explodes, kick starting the second major conflict on WandaVision episode 9. The White Vision is naturally quite powerful — it's the Vision you know from earlier movies, after all — and he walks away from the burning wreckage unharmed. As the Westview Vision goes after him, Agatha apparates out of the blue and heads for the town centre, forcing Wanda to follow her. In the middle of Westview, Agatha reminds Wanda of the evil she has unleashed, notes that she's more powerful than the “Sorcerer Supreme” — the first reference to Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) we've had all season on WandaVision — and claims that it's her destiny (it says so in a witch book called the Darkhold) as the Scarlet Witch to destroy the world. Wanda says that it's not who she is, only for Agatha to remind her of how she's trapped hundreds of ordinary folks inside the Hex — all of whom have lives and peo... by Technological Updates

Thousands of Android, iOS Apps Expose User Data Due to Cloud Misconfigurations: Zimperium #GadgetsAndDevices #Technology #Science #Gadgets #Devices #Android #iOS #Windows #Gizmos #ScienceAndTechnology #Mobile #SmartDevice Thousands of Android and iOS apps exposed user data due to commonly found cloud misconfigurations, according to a mobile security firm. The issues could allow malicious attackers to exploit the leaked information. The researchers found misconfiguration problems on apps using popular public cloud services such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. Among other apps, a mobile wallet developed by a Fortune 500 company was spotted exposing session and payment information of users that could lead to fraud. The researchers at Zimperium conducted an automated analysis of more than 1.3 million Android and iOS apps in which they found misconfiguration problems on 14 percent of the total testing base. In a blog post, the company noted that it detected apps that leak the entire cloud infrastructure scripts and definitions including SSH keys. “Other types of configurations are Web server config files, installation files, and even passwords to payment kiosks,” the company said in the post. The apps were found to expose personally identifiable information (PII) including profile pictures, personal details, and medical test data. Some apps even enabled fraud or exposed intellectual property (IP) data and internal systems. Apps exposing PII included some medical and social media apps as well as a major game app and a fitness app. Major city transportation, online retailer, and gambling apps were also noticed enabling fraud. Further, major music, news service, mobile payments wallet, airport, hardware developer, and Asian government travel apps were found to expose IP and system details. Zimperium, however, didn't reveal the exact name of the apps exposing data. “During our review, we encountered several apps relying on both Google and Amazon storage that was accessible without any security. In one example, the information we were able to obtain included profile pictures and other PII information,” Zimperium said. The researchers also found that in some cases, the misconfigurations allowed hackers to even change or overwrite data that could bring further disruption for end users. Wired reported that a total of 11,877 Android apps and 6,608 iOS apps were exposing users' sensitive information through common cloud misconfigurations. The researchers contacted some app developers about the exposures, though many apps were found to have still exposed data. The response from most of the app developers reached out was also minimal. Cloud service providers such as Amazon, Google, and Microsoft do provide ways to protect data from being exposed. However, it is the ultimate responsibility of developers and the companies that offer apps to use appropriate configurations to ensure safety of their users. “Once you've closed off your cloud service to unauthorised external access, the next thing you can do is to use a service that assesses your secure software development lifecycle as part of your standard development process,” Zimperium said. Importantly, Zimperium is one of the three mobile security companies that are a part of Google's App Defense Alliance initiative, that is aimed to offer automated app scanning for Google Play. Wired reported that Zimperium researchers used the same set of tools it uses for the App Defense Alliance programme to investigate cloud misconfigurations. However, instead of looking for accidental exposures, the company uses the tools for Google Play to find potentially malicious functionality. Indian Wearable Market Grew 144.3 Percent YoY in 2020, With Earwear Taking 83.6 Percent Market Share: IDC #GadgetsAndDevices #Technology #Science #Gadgets #Devices #Android #iOS #Windows #Gizmos #ScienceAndTechnology #Mobile #SmartDevice Indian wearable market grew 144.3 percent year-over-year (YoY) in 2020 making India the only country in the top 20 to have triple digit growth, according to market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC). The company tracks both smartwatches and wristbands, as well as earphones in this category. The data shows that in 2020, Truly Wireless Stereo (TWS) earphones saw a tenfold increase with shipments totaling 11.3 million units in 2020. Consumers also upgraded from wristbands to watches, leading to record annual shipments in the category. India was among the top 20 countries to see the most growth in the wearable segment in 2020. It was the only country that had triple digit growth of 144.3 percent compared to the previous year according to data by IDC. There were 36.4 million wearable unit shipments by the end of 2020. These include wristbands, watches (basic watches and smartwatches), and earwear. Thanks to affordable launches, Earwear device shipments grew three times as much in 2020 compared to the previous year. This was also fueled by virtual meetings and e-learning requirements. TWS earphone shipments grew by 11.3 million units in 2020. In Q4 last year, 15.2 million units of wearables were shipped by vendors which was a 198.2 percent growth YoY. In terms of watches shipments, more than 1.3 million units were shipped in the last quarter of 2020 which was the first time watch shipments crossed one million, as per the data. Overall wristband shipments declined YoY as watches became more popular and more affordable. Xiaomi continued to capture the maximum market share for wristbands at 46.7 percent. Realme had 12.3 percent market share in wristbands in 2020. Watches saw 139.3 percent YoY growth with 2.6-million unit shipments in 2020. The watch category was dominated by Noise at 24.5 percent market share in 2020 and Realme took second place with 15.7 percent market share. When it comes to smartwatches, the report states Apple continued to lead the segment with 51 percent share in 2020. Coming to earwear, 30.4 million units were shipped in 2020 which accounts for 83.6 percent of the overall wearable market in India. boAt lead both headphone and TWS segment with around 33 percent and 24.6 percent market share respectively. Realme had 13.5 percent market share in TWS segment last year. IDC considers both basic watches and smartwatches under its ‘watch' category Basic watches have a microprocessor, digitally processing data, have wireless connectivity, but do not run third-party applications. Smartwatches meet all four requirements and traditional analog/ digital watches are excluded. Devices considered under ‘earwear' must offer functionality beyond just audio like a smart assistant, audio experience enhancement, health and fitness tracking, or language translation. WandaVision Episode 9: 2 Post-Credits Scenes, Explained #GadgetsAndDevices #Technology #Science #Gadgets #Devices #Android #iOS #Windows #Gizmos #ScienceAndTechnology #Mobile #SmartDevice WandaVision episode 9 brought two post-credits scenes in the series finale, doubling the count we had during the Marvel TV show's entire run, after getting one apiece in WandaVision episode 7 and WandaVision episode 8. Both the scenes during the WandaVision episode 9 credits set up upcoming movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Four. While one of them is more direct in its connection, the other one is its polar opposite. The only way you'd know that it sets up a MCU movie is if you've been following Marvel news (or read my WandaVision episode 9 recap). Otherwise, you might be led to believe that we're getting WandaVision season 2. Also see WandaVision Episode 9 Recap: The Scarlet Witch Rises Spoilers ahead for WandaVision episode 9 “The Series Finale”. WandaVision episode 9 mid-credits scene The first scene during the WandaVision episode 9 credits appears after we get the title card. It picks up where we left off in the Westview town centre, with FBI Agent Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) coordinating the investigation now that Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) has departed the New Jersey town for good. He turns around to be greeted by Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), suggesting this is only a little time after the end of WandaVision episode 9, when Wanda flew away as the police pulled in. Woo wonders about Darcy Lewis' (Kat Dennings) whereabouts and is told by Monica that she thinks “debriefs are for the weak”. Monica then notes that they can thank Darcy for the arrest of SWORD's (acting) director Tyler Hayward (Josh Stamberg), who if you'll remember, slowly went full crazy — from monitoring Wanda, then resurrecting Vision as a weapon, and eventually firing at Wanda's kids in the WandaVision series finale. Darcy had hacked into Hayward's servers earlier in the season, so the evidence she collected has clearly helped bring him down. Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau in WandaVision episode 9 Photo Credit: Disney/Marvel Studios Just then, a female FBI agent (Lori Livingston) shows up and tells Monica that they are looking for her in the theatre. Except there doesn't seem to be anyone actually waiting for her in the theatre. “I was sent by an old friend of your mother,” the female FBI agent says, as she reveals herself to be a member of the shapeshifting alien race Skrull — we first met them on Captain Marvel . Is she talking about Talos (Ben Mendelsohn)? I think so. The agent then adds that “he” would like to meet Monica, and when asked where, points up to suggest outer space. This is naturally a set up for Captain Marvel 2. Parris is officially part of the cast, alongside Brie Larson as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel, and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel who is set to get her own Disney+ series later in 2021. WandaVision episode 9's mid-credits scene suggests that Mendelsohn might be part of Captain Marvel 2 as well. We'll have to wait till November 2022 — that's when Captain Marvel 2 comes out — to discover where this leads. WandaVision episode 9 post-credits scene The second WandaVision episode 9 post-credits scene is at the tail end of the credits, after the Dolby Vision and Panavision logos. We open in a mountain range somewhere, far off from any kind of civilisation. Pull in to a remote cabin in the middle of nowhere, with Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) dressed in plain clothes and sitting on the porch. She turns around and heads in to refill her mug from the whistling kettle, but the camera moves past her and heads into another room. There, we are met with the Scarlet Witch (Olsen), who is floating in mid-air and poring through the Darkhold — that's the book Agatha mentioned during WandaVision episode 9. What's going on? Has she learned how to clone herself/ her mind? But that's not all. The Scarlet Witch is then interrupted by the screams of her twin boys Tommy and Billy, who are pleading for help. Wait, they are still around? How does that work? The answer will likely come in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, of which Olsen is officially a part of. This might seem ripe for a WandaVision season 2, but Marvel has already revealed that WandaVision would set up the Doctor Strange sequel — and that it has no plans for a season 2. WandaVision Review: Marvel’s Endgame Boom Made This Experiment Possible #GadgetsAndDevices #Technology #Science #Gadgets #Devices #Android #iOS #Windows #Gizmos #ScienceAndTechnology #Mobile #SmartDevice WandaVision, Marvel Studios' first ever TV series, inspired by decades of American sitcoms, was one of the funniest entries yet. But it was also one of its saddest. At its heart, WandaVision was about its protagonist, Wanda Maximoff/ Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), navigating a deep and personal loss. Wanda might be an Avenger and have superhuman abilities, but her heart is still human. Spoilers ahead. And she's led the most heart-wrenching of lives, as WandaVision reiterated, having literally lost everyone she has ever cared for: her parents Iryna (Ilana Kohanchi) and Olek Maximoff (Daniyar), her only brother Pietro Maximoff (Aaron-Taylor Johnson, not Evan Peters), her lover Vision (Paul Bettany), and her — real? — twin boys, Tommy (Jett Klyne) and Billy (Julian Hilliard). The Marvel Cinematic Universe series' central conceit, in how most of WandaVision's episodes were modelled after sitcoms, was a way for Wanda to grapple with her emotions. As we see in WandaVision episode 8, a young Wanda (Michaela Russell) grew up on American sitcoms in Sokovia, before her parents were wiped out in a bombing. That she (and her younger brother) managed to survive in a conflict-riddled nation no doubt left them with lifelong scars, but for Wanda, the misery continued as she lost Pietro when the Avengers tried to stop Ultron (James Spader) — in Avengers: Age of Ultron. In the aftermath, Wanda found a new connection in Vision, someone who was as alone in the world as her. But then she lost Vision too during the events of Avengers: Infinity War. Not just once, but twice — it's actually thrice now after WandaVision episode 9. To keep the Mind Stone — the yellow gem embedded in Vision's forehead that gives him life — away from Thanos (Josh Brolin), a sobbing and broken Wanda agreed to “destroy” her lover. But all that pain was for nothing, as the big purple brute reversed time and took it anyway, killing Vision for a second time in the process, all while Wanda watched helplessly. And before she could even begin to process his death, Wanda was wiped away in Thanos' Snap, along with half of the universe. As Wanda returned to the land of the living after the Blip — WandaVision is set just a few weeks after the events of Avengers: Endgame — it was the first time that she was able to properly grieve. Paul Bettany as Vision, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff in WandaVision Photo Credit: Disney/Marvel Studios Grief is usually the first act of a story, more so for the likes of Marvel that are in the business of making action epics for the big screen. In Guardians of the Galaxy , after losing his mother, a young Peter Quill is transported across the stars and becomes Star-Lord. In Star Wars: A New Hope, after losing his guardians, Luke Skywalker throws himself into a galactic conflict and trains to be a Jedi. The protagonists, propelled by the loss, launch themselves into an adventure. Grief is the catalyst, not a destination. But not so for WandaVision. Moreover, its longform nature allowed WandaVision to explore a character's inner life like never before. No other MCU property has had this amount of time to navigate how a Marvel superhero is feeling. Even the three-hour Endgame had to get on with its plot after a point. Of course, it helps when you've a talent like Olsen. The 32-year-old has never had the space in Marvel films previously — she's always been the supporting player, across two Avengers films (Age of Ultron and Infinity War) and Captain America: Civil War, in addition to a cameo in Endgame — but here on WandaVision, Olsen showcases what she's truly capable of. Olsen kept up with the demands the sitcom beats asked of her, even as they changed every episode. And though the dramatic beats were more akin to what she's done before in the MCU, there were scenes on WandaVision episode 8 that allowed her to dig deep into Wanda's emotions. And she delivered. Through its five-hour-plus runtime, Olsen proved that she is a terrific actress. A non-exhaustive list of WandaVision's sitcom inspirations Episodes 1 and 2: Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, I Love Lucy, and The Dick Van Dyke Show Episode 3: The Brady Bunch, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and The Courtship of Eddie's Father Episode 5: Family Ties, Full House, Growing Pains, Step by St... by Technological Updates
