Princess Doll Evening Stars Coordinate Yikes, I haven’t updated my blog in such a long time! Unfortunately (or fortunately?), my current work schedule makes it so I’m not home during the day, and I can rarely get good lighting for photos. Luckily, I got off somewhat early this afternoon, so I had a chance to put together a coordinate post.
While browsing a recent issue of Kera magazine, I caught sight of this beautiful JSK from Japanese indie brand Princess Doll. My lovely shopping service (Tokyo Pirates) told me that the name of the dress roughly translated to “Night Star Pile Up on Me Dress” (!?) or maybe “Covered with Evening Stars.” But what’s in a name? I adore constellation prints and I adore town prints, so this dress was absolute LOVE at first sight!
Items in this coord:
Princess Doll わたしにつもる星の夜ワンピース (Covered with Evening Stars JSK)
Taobao Dear Celine Princess Sleeve Chiffon Blouse
Taobao 7Bufa T-Strap Shoes in Cream
Taobao Mu Fish Starry Night Tights
Taobao KIRAKIRA Navy Hairclip
Brown Beret (handmade by myself—details here)

Hi! I'm a big fan of ur work! & I was wondering if you could give some pointers on how to sell prints and take commission at a convention. This is my friends first time selling his art & I wanna help him the best I can & I thought I'd ask a pro! !~
Thank you! I’ve only done seven cons in this past year (my first year doing this sort of thing) but here’s what I’ve picked up:
• talk to people who come to your table! make sure to be friendly and outgoing! unless someone is disrespectful, then by all means pick a fight
• never talk yourself or your work down. this is always true, but it’s especially true while you’re with potential customers or industry pros!! JUST DON’T DO IT, NOT NOW NOT EVER
• don’t take more commissions than you can handle. I actually prefer not to do commissions at cons, but when I do offer them I only like to do $5 pen sketch commissions on notecards, because that’s the least stressful thing for me to work on, and I can draw a lot of them without burning out.
• don’t overstock on prints– while you might be able to sell extras online later, they get heavy fast and it’s often easier to reprint more if you really have to. 5-15 copies per print is a good amount to start with
• it’s nice (but not necessary) to have other wares aside from prints. I prefer books and zines, but other people have had success with stickers, bookmarks, acrylic charms, buttons, bags, clothing– with the internet how it is now, you have just about anything you want custom-made! take advantage!!
• drink lots of water, eat well, take vitamins, and get plenty of rest! this will keep you from getting sick during and after the con.
• don’t bring a cash box for your money. they’re ungainly, heavy, and more likely to get stolen than a small zipper bag.
• bring stuff to do in case business is slow! gameboy, sketchbook, light novel– whatever can keep you occupied.
• it’s ideal to have a table partner– either another artist who you’re splitting with, or a friend you’ve roped into being your assistant for the weekend. FYI, splitting with another artist doesn’t seem to affect my sales at all.
• get out from behind your table at least once and check out the other vendors! odds are, you’ll make some friends~

Yeah, once my queue finishes I'll be leaving this blog. Just don't care about tumblr anymore.
Still will be posting things on my art blog, but that's it.

This post is me acknowleging that some people go onto tumblr to escape the real world and to soothe themselves after stressful experiences, so if they block or ignore social justice and news stories so that their decompression isn’t interrupted with yet more stress, it is not only no one’s business but it makes perfect sense.
Never judge people for not reblogging something.
