I’ve never said anything about skam but this is downright bullshit. To be honest and give solid arguments I only watched skam france season 6,7 and 9.
First of all, loved the idea of giving the hero of season 6 (Maya) her own season for 3 reasons: Person of colour, a queer main and someone who is perfectly imperfect.
But, how could you mess up her season this much? Starting with a break up, ok happens. Her grandma having the Alzheimer’s disease? Happens. Her not being able to cope with it and hooking up with ‘random’ girl(s)? Happens. Her friends not being able to comfort her? Happens.
All this would be fine if it was the first time. But these things happened on skam before and they were solved within the season. With maya it feels like we’ve seen her in bed, hooking up, crying and that’s it.
I know that’s what depression and anxiety is like, but they never gave a damn about it before (just a reminder, Elliot is supposed to be bipolar) when it comes to continuity. So why now? Because it gave the perfect excuse to give the fan fave another ep (no hating on flavie or Lola) and maya was just hanging there. So yes, (maybe) Lola doesn’t love maya in a romantic way anymore but this is just crap.
Nothing has been solved except for la mif finally cleaning the flat and them being concerned. Lola being concerned? Well, what are you going to do about it? Maya needs professional help and someone, at least max should’ve seen it, as he’s her best friend..
At this moment I just feel like everything is rushed. I was a true mayla believer but right now I’ll be happy when she doesn’t end up with June (because she was running away from her feelings)…
