A friend recently asked me “ How are you doing, new city, new people , new job🌻?”. I said that I was finally starting to feel like I am settling in. I said Pretoria is too big- like the USA- we miss the small town, communal feel of Zim. Even the embassy here is massive, people spread out, that it’s hard to get to know people - but somehow we are figuring it out. I ended with- I just hope we are alert and awake to what we are supposed to learn from here- we know it’s not a coincidence that we are here.
This Queen/ Sister said to me- “I am glad you are settling in😘! One thing about taking longer to root is the connection to each other as a family. You become about each other more like being protective of each other because it’s taking longer to ground. Maybe it is about knowing each other more- you and yours without too many distractions. Big cities can be fun, lots of family time out of the house doing this and that. It’s ok sometimes not to know people🫣😉 There can be a lightness to it, to rest and be about you and yours only. South Africa is truly a short gem place , but can be fantastic for the short term.
I am so blessed to have such a wise and loving friend in my life that God can speak through- one that is fully invested in me and mine and makes sure I don’t miss it! She knows that my relationship with George and my children is most important to me so she regularly calls me to order without trying! Her way of being is of love, connection and unity.
Here is to us! To being intentional in building strong bonds, stronger attachments (yes, attachments) that will lead to each one of us living our most authentic lives! I thank God for us each and everyday and I pray that His favour will be upon us for a thousand generations! #Blessed!
