STARTER FOR:@weshyland
LOCATION:tennis court
“You have a very shitty backhand, man,” he says with a chuckle as he puts the ball in play. “Since you are my friend, I’ll teach you how to correct that free of charge.” He smiles at him, softly returning the ball to his side of the court. “By the way, did you get tickets for the game?” Nick really wasn’t much into baseball, or any other sport but he’d been to a few games with Wes and they all had been enjoyable experiences, plus it’s not like he had anything better to do on a Wednesday night.
-
From across the net, he flipped off his friend before laughing. “Thank you, Mr. Federer, how considerate of you.” Granted, tennis was not his kind of sport. He had always been very clumsy with anything that required props such as a racquet, it felt unnatural. “I did, but if you’re gonna be a dick and root for the away team I’m not taking you. In fact, if you want to go, you must dress like a Yankees fan,” he said before trying to put the ball back in play but just smashing it against the net. “This sport is stupid, let’s take a break please.”

Cross legged on the sidewalk Ellie sat, weaving petals together, a half eaten pb&j on the paper plate beside of her. The garden was her favorite place, it reminded her the most of home. She spent most of her free time there, just taking in the beauty of all the plants. Startled by the sound of someone approaching, she was quick to explain, irrationally worried about the consequence of making flower crowns with property that didn’t belong to her, “I wasn’t picking them! They’d already fell off.”
-
Wes disliked having lunch at the dining room, he didn’t like spending his break inside a room so he often would eat his lunch at the garden. There, in his favorite bench, he saw someone playing with the petals and as she noticed his presence he made sure to feign a stoic expression as if he was about to reprimand her. “I’m afraid that’s not a good excuse and I’m gonna have to take you to country club jail,” he said before breaking out a smile. “That looks very nice, you gave them a better use than just leaving them on the floor.”

Watching the maintenance team paint over a bouquet of roses she’d put onto one of the shed walls the night prior. On her way home from her shift, she spotted a couple of lights out, and it was the perfect time to strike. Now, it was all gone. “You know, they should have kept that. Adds some personality into the place.” No one had to know that it was her.
“Wow, they really waste no time,” he says with a shake of his head as he looks at the workers painting over what seemed to be a bouquet of roses. “You know people around here don’t really like anything with a personality but I’m sure you will still try to find ways to redecorate this place.”

birthday: 3:55 am, march 3rd, 1998

wesley was born to an investor and a fashion journalist in new york city. however, shortly after his birth the couple decided to give their son a more suburban lifestyle and they moved to greenwich, ct.
his childhood was the typical suburban experience and overall, he had a very united family. his little sister arrived when he was three.
when he was six, his mother enrolled him in swimming lessons and from the start his trainers knew he was a natural and had talent to even try to go pro.
wesley’s childhood and early adolescence had the same routine: school and then practice. however, as he started to grow up, he also began craving being a “normal” teen and being able to go out with his friends and play football at school.
on one side he craved normalcy but on the other side he also craved for olympic glory.
as a student, wes was a good student but far from extraordinary. he did good enough to be on the swimming team.
all his work seemed to have paid off when he qualified for the rio olympics. to add to his success, he obtained a full scholarship to stanford to swim for their team.
just two months before the olympics, wesley went out with a few friends to celebrate the birthday of one of his friends. throughout the night he watched how his friends got drunk but he didn’t drink at all.
tw car accident at around 3am, wesley decided to give a ride home to one of his drunk friends. a very careful driver, wes expected to be home in 45 minutes but that didn’t happen. he took his eyes off the road for two seconds to lower the volume and next thing he knew they were about to crash into another car. to avoid a collision, he had to swerve out of the way and encroach on the slope by the road, but unfortunately, the car toppled over and there he was stuck beneath it.
tw death he regained consciousness back in the hospital, he had a broken arm and a broken leg but the biggest hit of it all was that the friend he was with had passed away.
the grieving parents sued wesley, but the case didn’t really go too far as he proved that he wasn’t under the influence and that the accident hadn’t been caused by negligence.
his life changed drastically after that. he missed the olympics and pretty much spent most of his days in his room, playing video games and reading.
he lost his scholarship to stanford as he couldn’t swim competitively anymore.
after two years of physical and mental therapy, wesley started to taking back control of his life. he applied for university in new york and was accepted into fordham university where he studies sports journalism
he also took a part time job at highlands country club as a pool cleaner. even if he doesn’t need the money, wesley has always liked being financially independent.

he hasn’t really swam competitively since the accident. in a way, he’s afraid of failure and not having the same form as before.
big sports fan. his dad used to take him to every yankees game. he’s a ny knicks, ny yankees, ny rangers and ny giants are his favorite teams.
he actually can speak german, his mother is german and in order to communicate to his grandparents he had to learn. they used to spend the summers in hamburg.
he grew up wealthy, his father works for goldman sachs but he’s actually very humble about it and doesn’t mention it. (typical boy who says “i’m not rich, my parents are rich.”
his mom worked for several years writing for vogue and she currently writes for vanity fair. he loves fashion, and he has very good and trendy style. if anything, his wealth is shown through his clothes.
