Even if that is more psychological than a real major increase in interior size, I applaud.

it can be any shape it wants when it doesn't break the 55mph threshold. That's just physics!

Extra wide! I .never thought anyone would do it, but it sure sounds nice!
Wide One Corporation of Anaheim, California took Dodge Max vans in the early 1980s and widened them by 14 inches (note the dual windshield) and increased the interior headroom by 12 inches. www.powerpacknation.com

I know you've never use these shag and mahogany interiors to move fridges or lumber, but the things I imagine them containing are perhaps more vital to good living!

Fiat 127 Fiorino, 1977. The first generation of Fiat's small van was based on the second and third generation 127 whose bodywork it used up to the B-pillar (neatly demonstrated by the dashed rule in the ad). The 127 part of the name was dropped in the mid 80s when it became simply the Fiorino. Fun fact, the "Hi-Top" roof was fabricated for Fiat by Bertone
