If you don’t find the favorable-indifferent-averse model useful for describing how you feel towards romance and/or sex, you don’t have to use it.
Additionally, you don’t have to be statically and rigidly in one of these three categories. Your feelings can be situation dependent. They could also shift over time.
These terms are there if you need it, to be applied in whatever way you see fit.

Does anyone have any good books with adult aspec characters in them? I'm brainstorming Christmas gifts for my sister and she's gray ace and I really want to give her books that represent that part of her, but aside from Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle and How to Sell Your Blood and Fall in Love by D.N. Bryn all the other books with aspec characters I can think of are YA and she's in her thirties so id like older characters.
So, any recommendations?

Two facts which can coexist:
1. Sex scenes in movies and television can have legitimate artistic value and shouldn’t be discounted just because they’re sexual. Dismissing ALL sex scenes as meaningless slop is a sign that you have some very sex-negative attitudes that you need to work on.
2. Mainstream media is heavily saturated with sexual content, much of which is poorly written, poorly executed, and included not for the purpose of enhancing a story, but because “sex sells.” These types of sex scenes aren’t always necessary and can in fact be incredibly alienating for sex repulsed asexual adults, who may want to be able to enjoy art too without having to relegate themselves exclusively to the realm of media made for children.
It’s possible to acknowledge both that sex is an important part of many people’s lives which deserves to be represented in art and media AND that the sheer inescapability of sex in adult media is a symptom of allonormativity which can be harmful and isolating for many asexual people. Not every criticism of sex-centric attitudes in our society is meant to shame people for liking or enjoying sex.
