day 2/30 of productivity
1/17/24
(shocker) i fell asleep early again, so this post is for yesterday. i was fairly productive, and managed to get quite a bit done.
yesterday i:
fixed a bug that had me stumped yesterday on my to-do list project
continued adding to the ui
began working on two new functions: one that strikes out the task, and one that deletes the task all together
got bored and decided to work on my chat application (argon)
began the welcome screen with animated widgets (labels and qpushbuttons)
there's probably more but that's all i can really recall. i haven't had my coffee yet

so, the big project i have been working on is a chat application that will be used for myself and a few select friends of mine. the name of this app is argon
i started working on the code for the prototype on january 9th of this year and i've made significant progress. the prototype is in customtkinter, but i've decided now that since this will be a large scale project, i should work with pyqt6. i have some experience with pyqt5, but not much with 6, so this will be a great learning experience for me ^_^
the prototype currently has
login / sign up features (connected to a sqlite3 database. NOTE: i made this choice just for the purpose of getting the project started. when it comes time for the app to be deployed, i will be using a postgresql database)
chat dashboard that shows the user all of their chats
a chat feature
not much because i've mainly been brainstorming and drafting what i want this to look like and how i want this to work. the prototype currently has 236 lines of code (with spacing and comments of course, so i imagine its around 205-215 in actuality). i am very excited to continue working on this project and share what i have eventually ^_^

day 1/30 of 30 days of productivity
1/16/24
it's 2:30 in the morning, but i woke up and wanted to bang out this post. today i was relatively productive! i spent the entire morning into the early afternoon from 8:45 am to about 1:30 pm coding, which is big for me as i am a chronic migraine sufferer.
today i:
scrolled tumblr for project ideas until stumbling across a project that inspired me. i will be tagging the person who's project gave me inspiration when i post my project
began my to do list project and got a big chunk of the functionality portion done
worked on the UI of the project
was able to conquer some of the major blocks i was having on my own
might not seem like a lot, but for me this was a good start to my productivity month (:

Being autistic feels like having to emulate brain hardware that most other people have. Being allistic is like having a social chip in the brain that handles converting thoughts into social communication and vice versa while being autistic is like using the CPU to essentially emulate what that social chip does in allistic people.
Skip this paragraph if you know about video codec hardware on GPUs. Similarly, some computers have hardware chips specifically meant for encoding and decoding specific video formats like H.264 (usually located in the GPU), while other computers might not have those chips built in meaning that encoding and decoding videos must be done “by hand” on the CPU. That means it usually takes longer but is also usually more configurable, meaning that the output quality of the CPU method can sometimes surpass the hardware chip’s output quality depending on the settings set for the CPU encoding.
In conclusion, video codec encoding and decoding for computers is to social encoding and decoding for autistic/allistic people.

100 days of productivity is a bit daunting for me, so i think i'm going to try to do the equivalent of a month!
i will log my progress every day for 30 days starting today ^_^ not including this post

reading your notes now and this story is so COOL! the lore is fantastic and the thought that went into this project is so evident. the plot is very compelling too!
welcome to my blog!
my name is axel. i am new to codeblr, but not new to tumblr. i am a college student studying computer science, but i started teaching myself how to code before academically studying cs. i have truly fallen in love with coding and it is one of my passions. i have been coding since march of 2023. my language of choice is python, but i have experience in html, css, and very little javascript. i am also currently learning java (slowly) alongside js.
on this account, expect to see posts about current projects i am working on, ideas i have, rambles, tips, and programming/coding resources i come across. right now i am working on gui projects, but i do occasionally use pygame.
outside of coding, i love playing videogames, writing, and i'm getting back into drawing.

wow! your story sounds so interesting! i would love to give it a read some time if you'd be willing (: and as for drawing from scratch, that's one of my new years resolutions as well. it can be hard but ultimately very rewarding in the end ^_^
